Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine

Justina's Point Of View

"You okay?" Dawn asked as she entered my room.

I sat upright and flashed her a tight warm smile. "Yes, I am."

"Sure?"

"Hm, I will be. Don't worry."

"Okay, just wanted to check up on you, I'll be heading out. Take care of yourself."

"Yeah, you too."

Immediately after she left, I laid back on the bed and put on my headphones, listening to relaxing songs to calm my brain and help me sleep properly.

I found myself sinking into a peaceful slumber, the warmth of the blankets cocooning me as my mind drifted into dreams. Time seemed to slow down, and the worries of the day faded away as sleep embraced me like a comforting hug. Letting go of the day's stresses and allowing myself to recharge for later.

A few hours Later.

I woke up feeling a bit relaxed but extremely hungry. "Damn, my tummy hurts," I mumbled as I gently rubbed it trying to soothe it.

Taking a quick shower just to freshen up and clear my mind, I threw on a pair of sweatpants and a grey hoodie.

I looked at the mirror and sighed deeply, thanks to the pregnancy I was getting a bit fat, and my face was getting rounder but my eyes- the eye bags were here to stay. I packed my hair into a bun and left my room heading for the kitchen.

"So... I don't feel like eating something sweet... Spicy probably?" My fingers traced through the cupboards as I stood there staring at different opinions to pick from.

"If it's spicy, then noodles it is."

After 20 minutes, I was done cooking and sat on the kitchen counter quietly and peacefully eating my noodles. Not so long after, Dawn came back home from work looking a bit distressed.

"You okay?"

"No!" She groaned and slumped on the couch. "Some people are just annoying!"

The noise of my feet dragging the floor echoed as I lazily walked towards her. "Want some?" I asked as I sat close to her.

"No, I just need a walk or a run. I'm stressed."

"Mind I follow? I also feel somehow stuffed."

She took a long pause before replying to me. "Hm, just stay close okay?"

"Sure, thanks."

She nodded and went to her room, after some minutes she came out looking more refreshed and relaxed.

"You ready?"

"Yeah, I am."

The cool evening air was refreshing, and the gentle walk helped clear our minds and invigorate our spirits. As we strolled along, each of us an headphones on.

Upon returning home, we teamed up in the kitchen to prepare dinner. The clicking of pots and pans, the aroma of spices filling the air, and the shared task of cooking created a send of camaraderie and warmth.

"Thanks for following me, even though we hardly said anything to each other, your company was enough." Dawn smiled.

"No please don't.... You're always there for me. Plus I didn't do anything." I used my left hand which was clean to rub her back.

"Yeah."

We sat down to a homemade meal, savoring each bite and the comfort of a good meal.

Suddenly my stomach turned again, this time more painfully. "Sorry, I need to leave."

"Why?"

Before I could reply, I threw up on the floor gasping desperately for air. For a moment my breath seized and became hard to breathe, the smell of my puke turned my stomach even more as I kept on vomiting.

Dawn rushed to my side and lifted my face. "You okay?"

"Yeah yeah, I'm good. It was just a slight stomachache."

"Sure? You don't look good, you look pale."

"I'm fine," I removed her hand from my face and got up. "I just need to bath again, but before that let me clean that mess up."

"I will, don't worry."

"Dawn please no- let me. I'm pregnant, not useless."

Her eyes said no but she knew I wasn't going to stop, I hated how I always depended on her. It has to stop especially now that I'm starting to realise myself and connect with my past.

I grabbed a mop, bucket, and a rag. Gently cleaned up the mess I made while Dawn cleared the plates and washed the dishes.

"Okay, I'm done!" I yelled from the living room hoping she would hear me.

"Okay!" She yelled back in response.

With a deep breath, I pulled off my clothes and stepped into the bathroom, letting the cool water calm me down and wash the stain of vomit from me. I gently scrubbed my body while my mind drifted into wonders.

The vibrating of my phone from the bed snapped me out of my thoughts. I rushed up and left the bathroom, wrapping a towel around my chest, I wiped my hands with another towel and carried my phone.

"Oh, it's Nora."

Without wasting time, I dialed her number. She picked up almost immediately.

"Hi! How are you doing?!"

"I'm fine, you?"

"I'm very much okay, how have you been?"

"Uhhh.... Okay?"

"Sorry, I just wanted to hear from you."

"No, it's alright. Thank you."

"Your thank yous are way too much," She joked. "But you're welcome."

We talked for an hour or so, Mid our conversation Dawn walked in but left when she realized I was on the phone.

"Goodnight baby, sleep tight."

"You too ma."

I ended the call with a smile on my lips, j was happy.... I could finally say "ma or mom"

As I was about to sleep, which I doubt could happen so soon because I already slept earlier.

I just lay on my bed staring at the ceiling while I hummed under my breath.

"No, this won't work." I groaned as I stood up from bed. It's been an hour but my eyes are still freaking up.

Maybe a glass of water or tea would relax me? I don't even feel sleepy anyways.

I stepped out of my room and walked to the kitchen, I screamed when I saw blood stains on the floor.

"What the"
