Justina's Point Of View
"What the heck happened here?!" I shrieked as I stared at the blood stains.
"Sorry, that was me," Dawn came in using a cloth to wrap her index finger as she used the other hand to mop the floor. "I wanted to eat some vegetables, but by accident, I cut myself, sorry I startled you."
"No no, it's fine. Let me assist." I took the mop from her and cleaned up the mess then helped her with the injury, luckily for her it wasn't that deep but she bled a lot.
"It's alright now, I think? Feel any pain?"
She wriggled her finger. "Nope, it's all good. Thanks again."
"Sure no problem."
I helped her chop the vegetables which at first she refused but had no other choice since her finger was injured. After I was done, she thanked me and went back to her room while I went back to mine finally being able to sleep.
The next day
In the early morning light, the sound of the alarm clock woke up. "Annoying clock," I hissed as I switched it off, stretching my hands forward I yawned.
"Morning!" Dawn chirped as she entered my room. "Get up lazy head, it's time for breakfast, and then off to work!"
What got her all worked up?
"Sure sure, I'm coming." I yawned again louder this time.
"How are you feeling though? You okay?"
"Yes, I'm feeling okay. Just a bit tired. I need to get ready for work."
"I understand, let me know if you need help with anything. Are you craving anything specific for breakfast?"
I took a long pause as I thought about it. "Uh... No, but something spicy."
"Okay, I'll prepare something then. "
"Wait-" I stopped her, and she turned over her shoulder to look at me.
"Anything?"
"Your hand is injured. Let me help instead."
She looked down at her finger and frowned. "I'm fine Tina, I am."
"No, you aren't let me assist you."
"Ugh.. " she groaned. "Fine."
I prepared two different meals as my appetite and taste buds kept changing, today I'd want something spicy then the next... It's all tiring.
After Breakfast, we both left the house and departed, the walk to work was quite short as I walked fast so I'd beat time.
"And I'm early on the dot!" I sighed when I checked my phone and it was 7:55 am. Just 5 minutes earlier.
"Good morning." Mr Miller greeted me as he entered.
"Good morning sir, "I smiled.
"Well, I see you're early, let me not disturb you. Carry on."
"Sure."
After work, I went to a fountain and sat there waiting for my mom, within minutes I saw her walking towards me with a bright smile on her face as her arms were open wide.
"Hey," I hugged her patting her back. "How are you?"
"Happy now that I've seen you!"
"Hmhm."
She told me more about my past and how she was able to keep track of me even though she was far away, slowly I found myself trusting her more because it just clicked. She is my mother, it only made sense but what didn't was.....
"Remember when you said Jasper wasn't my mate?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
I whined internally remembering me and jasper but I shook the feeling off. "I'm just curious how? And why?"
"Tina, there's a lot more, maybe you both felt a sparkle or something but it was never meant to be, it just happened."
It was hard swallowing the truth especially when it was being slapped at your face. Maybe she's right because if he ever loved me he wouldn't have cheated on me with my freaking so-called best friend.... Maybe it was all a mistake.
"Oh cheer up child," She rubbed my cheek gently with her thumb. "It's not the end, there's still someone."
"Someone? Who could that be?"
"Whoever your heart picks from now on."
"But what if my heart makes another mistake?"
She smiled and moved closer. "It won't, I promise you. The next guy you would see is your mate. Tina."
"Okay," I pressed my lips together. "I hope so."
It seemed hard to believe but I have to stay positive right?
On my way back home I saw a small wolf walking towards me, I stretched my arm forward and gently pat the wolf's head.
"You're a kid ugh?" The little cub curled up to me and lay on my feet as I caressed it.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw a woman walking towards us with a frown on her lips.
"Is that your mother?" I asked the wolf who raised its head and started howling softly.
"Bailey, here now!" The woman yelled and the wolf ran towards her, she picked it up and kissed its head before walking away. The wolf turned back to look at me with a human-like smile.
In a way, that made me smile. I rubbed my belly which was quite obvious now, watching the mother and her cub gave me hope, maybe I could be happy, maybe I could give this cub a life and not just me.
"What are you doing squatting there?"
I raised my head and saw Dawn looking down at me with curiosity plastered on her face.
"Nothing just saw something beautiful, that's all."
"Okay."
She helped me get up and took my bag from me. "So how was meeting your mom?"
"It still feels strange to call her that but- it was nice," I replied, straightening up a smile.
"Hm, sure?"
"Yeah she didn't say much this time, then I may meet my mate and all.." I chuckled and shook my head. "But I doubt it."
Dawn stopped walking and looked at me. "Why?"
"I don't know." I shrugged. "I don't see it happening."
"Tina, you just left that good-for-nothing guy a few months ago, it's not magic... I mean you're a witch but still... "
I laughed as her face lit up in embarrassment. "I get you, it won't happen all of a sudden but when? And more importantly who?!"
"That's left for you to find out. You never know what the future holds."
