The grand ballroom of Nathan's mansion glittered under the golden chandeliers, the air buzzing with laughter, clinking glasses, and the strong scents of different packs. This charity event was meant to strengthen alliances, to show unity among us.it was also a way to rause funds fir the werewolf community that didn't really have enough to go by. This event was solely based on the Alpha's decision across every territory.
Yet, despite the glamour and pretence that they had going around, I felt suffocated.
I forced a smile as Nathan guided me through the crowd, his presence steady beside me. His touch on my lower back was protective, grounding. The warmth of his palm was a silent reminder that I wasn't alone. That here, in his home, I was safe.
Or so I thought.
The moment I saw him, the air in my lungs ran cold, making it difficult for me to breathe.
