Chapter 2 - Knowing her better

The room is a small square room, not enough for a condo toilet. It was painted in wild animal blood and some dried skin of some wild animals like crocodiles and tigers. The shaman went in and waited for a while before reciting some incantations and a sudden breeze blew before the feminine dummy in her front blinked twice as she immediately left the room.

"Hey boys, I have got good news, the gods decided to help you out" the shaman said on coming out of the chamber.

"So does that mean you have gotten the answer to our questions?" Malcom asked, looking for a positive answer.

"Don't be in a hurry boy, the patient dog eats the fattest bone. I still have to perform some rituals to get to the answers to your questions.

After a while, the shaman gave the answer to their questions, but it was already late into the night this time.

"Yes, the three artifacts are now discovered, but they are guided within the extraordinary realms and I don't think that is possible if you ever want to live long. Do you think you can ever face these tasks, boys?" the shaman asked, with a sympathetic look on her face.

"Yes, bring it on, and we know what to do about it in a jiffy" Malcom said, more confident than ever.

"The three artifacts are as follows

1. The golden chalice hidden within the temple of the moon goddess.

2. The Emerald Idol guarded by the fierce jaguar clan.

3. The Starlight Crystal concealed within the ancient observatory of the sun

"Do you still think it is ever going to be easy?" the shaman asked again.

"We never said this is going to be easy. Thanks for helping us. We really appreciate your help. Then I think it is time to go now", Ryan said, urging all to stand up as they decided to take their leave.

"Young men, don't you think it is too late to leave now? Many wild beasts roam here at this time of the night. Besides what use is, meeting blood in front of my place tomorrow morning" the shaman said, a bit concerned about them

"Well, we could have been happy to stay here, but we feel a little insecure here" Malcom spoke out his mind after hearing some wild bird chirping and taking what the shaman said into consideration.

"You don't have to be scared youngsters you stay at that room over there" she said pointing at a room by the right side of the hut

The crew all went into the room provided to accommodate them and, to their surprise, it was a big spacious room full of all the luxury, and they wondered if this was what they had called a hut the whole time.

"Wow, this place looks a lot different" Gordon, the youngest of the crew said, looking out through the window.

Little boy, don't get too carried away. This might not be what it seems to be.

"Malcom, stop calling me a little boy. Are you not just a year older than me?" Gordon asked, with his happy expression changing to a sad one in no time.

"You still have a small brain, so you would be just a little boy if not for your strong smelling ability and your skill for figuring out things faster. I wouldn't have brought you with us but, anyway, you are still a vital member of the crew, so get it together and be more serious, you are now a man". Malcom patted his head playfully.

*The next day*

The boys are all set early in the morning to continue their mission to find the artifacts to bring back to their lost city.

"Hey kids, you are leaving so early in the morning. Have you found something to eat in the fridge in the room where you slept?" the shaman asked, smiling at the boys.

"I know you are just teasing us. You wouldn't expect us to eat from the fridge in that room that we don't even know if everything there is just created by your shamanism powers" Ryan said telling her what is on their mind and his words made the woman produce a little tear from her eye but when asked why she cried she told the boys it is beyond their understanding.

"Well, I will just tell you all this stuff is not created by supernatural powers, they are just prepared by me and there is nothing bad in it, but it is fine if you don't want to eat at my place" the woman said a while after cleaning her face.

After that, they all went outside and were ready to continue their journey as they noticed footsteps behind them. They decided to pay no attention, so the predator could come closer before they launch an attack. Some were scarred, while Malcom ordered them not to look back until he said so. The boys decided to move to their right side into the forest to lead the stalker into a closed place to launch their attack after noticing that the figure was no more than one. Then Malcom ordered the crew to get ready to pull out their guns from their pockets, suspecting that it could be

A wolf or any wild beast, as they removed their guns, prepared to open fire. They noticed it was the shaman that was behind them all this time that had made them scared all this while.

"Why are you following us, ma I think we pathways when we left your house?" Ryan asked the woman curious about why she had been following them the whole time

''The gods told me that this mission can be achieved only if I am here with you, but they didn't make it known to me that there would be a hundred percent chance''. The shaman lied.

"Well, we are ready to risk our lives for this mission so we don't need you with all due respect, ma" Malcom, being genuinely respectful.

"I have grown fund of you boys overtime, and it is dangerous going alone, can you let be by your side and I will try my best to protect you from extraordinary creatures," the shaman said.

"Don't you think it is dangerous for us? We don't want you to risk your life, to save us, so go back to your hut and help people just the way you helped us. That is your call", Ryan said, urging her to go back.

"I made the decision to come with you guys. It is actually not the gods that sent me to follow you. The reason why is that you remind me of my son "Karl" and I don't want to lose someone like him again ", the shaman said sadly.

"We only remind you of him, and we are not him, so let's see you off, and we will continue our journey", Malcom said, showing a little sympathy, and continued, "what really happened to your son? Why are we the ones to be blamed for your loss?" Malcom said, looking at the shaman straight in the eyes.

"I don't want to talk about this. Okay, it makes me really sad, and I said I wouldn't tell anyone about him anymore", the shaman said with tears soaked in her eyes.

She didn't seem to be a bad woman, the boy said in sign language. They had to learn this because it can be useful in a situation where they don't want anyone to know what they were talking about.
