Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Time

Ji-Hoon and Saem entered the oldest section of the library. The bookshelves, taller and shrouded in an aura of antiquity, seemed to whisper ancient secrets. A dim light filtered through the windows, creating shadows that danced on the walls.

Ji-Hoon said quietly, "This place gives me goosebumps, Saem. Do you feel that energy? As if the books were alive and watching us."

Saem nodded. "It's as if the library has a soul of its own. And I think that soul is sick."

They stopped in front of a bookshelf filled with journals. Ji-Hoon pulled one out at random and opened it. The pages were covered in a strange black substance that spread rapidly, erasing the words.

"Look at this! It's rotting before our eyes!" Ji-Hoon exclaimed in alarm.

"And it's not the only one. Remember the one we found yesterday in the history section. The names were fading away," Saem added.

The two friends exchanged a worried glance. They moved away from that bookshelf and began examining other journals. One after another, they discovered that the corruption was spreading at an alarming speed.

"We have to inform the librarian immediately. This is much more serious than we thought," Ji-Hoon said.

"What if it's already too late? What if the entire library is doomed?" Saem asked in a trembling voice.

Ji-Hoon placed a hand on Saem's shoulder. "We can't give up. We have to find a solution. For the library, for history, and for all those whose memories are in danger."

As they walked deeper into the library, the feeling of unease increased. The shadows grew darker and the books seemed to whisper incomprehensible messages. Ji-Hoon and Saem felt increasingly small and vulnerable in the face of the vastness of the library and the threat looming over it.

Ji-Hoon and Saem arrived at a brighter, tidier space compared to the ancient records section. The shelves here were filled with more recent journals, and a large panoramic window offered a view of the city.

Young-Chul, seeing them, asked in surprise, "What brings you guys here? You guys are usually busy with the older records."

"Director Young-Chul, we have a serious problem. The old records are being corrupted. Names are being erased and memories are disappearing," Ji-Hoon reported bluntly.

Young-Chul took off his monocle and examined it closely. His eyes filled with concern. "Are you sure? That's impossible. According to the laws of the library, once a soul passes into the spiritual realm, its record becomes immutable."

Ji-Hoon showed him the twenty corrupted diaries. "Look at them, director. This isn't normal."

Young-Chul picked up one of the diaries and examined it carefully. His eyes widened at the sight of the stained pages and blurred names. "It can't be…" he muttered.

He walked to his desk and pulled out a diary from the present. He starts flipping through it, his expression becoming increasingly grim. "Look at this! They're rewriting this person's history. This is a direct violation of the library's laws."

Ji-Hoon and Saem exchanged worried glances. They knew they should bring this information to the librarian.

The librarian was sitting in front of his desk, staring at the spiral tree reflected in the window. Ji-Hoon, Saem, and Young-Chul entered the room and informed the librarian about the problem.

The librarian looked up, his eyes falling on the spiral tree. The leaves began to fall, one by one, like petals in autumn. "I knew it. I was afraid this would happen," he said in a soft voice.

Young-Chul was surprised. "I knew it? How?"

"The tree has revealed it. Someone has upset the balance," the librarian replied.

Ji-Hoon and Saem exchanged confused glances. They did not understand what the librarian meant.

The librarian, with a deep and worried look, addressed the three present. "A few days ago, when Yuuki came to the library, I sensed a disturbance in the fabric of time. A crack opened, and with it, a wave of chaos. Apparently, by traveling back in time, he altered the natural flow of events, triggering this massive corruption in the records."

Ji-Hoon was surprised. "You mean Yuuki is responsible for all this?"

The librarian shook his head. "It's not that simple. Yuuki is just a piece in this complex puzzle. Someone or something is manipulating the threads of fate, and Yuuki has been dragged into this conflict."

Saem asked with intrigue. "And what about Minho? What role does he play in all of this?"

The librarian sighed. "Minho is a key piece. His connection with Yuuki is deeper than we imagined. They are both trapped in a time spiral, and only together will they be able to find a solution."

The librarian walked over to a large window that looked out onto the outside. "We have two days to find Yuuki and Minho, and stop the corruption before it's too late. If we fail, the library, and with it, the entire fabric of time, will disintegrate."

Ji-Hoon, Saem, and Young-Chul looked at each other, understanding the gravity of the situation. They knew they had an urgent mission ahead of them.

Young-Chul interrupts, "But… how can we find them? The library's laws prohibit us from directly intervening in the matters of the records."

The librarian nods gravely. "You're right. Our actions are limited. Only Yuuki has the responsibility of meeting Minho. Let's hope that fate will guide them."

Young-Chul is skeptical. "And how can we have hope if we don't even know if they'll meet before the deadline?"

At that moment, Jun, another librarian specializing in timelines, enters the room.

"I have something to show you." Jun projects Yuuki and Minho's timelines onto the wall. "When Yuuki arrived, he completely altered his own timeline. And when Minho took him for a walk, it was as if fate had brought them together. Their timelines began to intertwine."

Jun points to a specific point where the two lines are coming closer. "This is where their paths will cross. We don't know when, but I'm sure it will happen."

Saem is optimistic. "Perhaps, if their destinies are connected, they will meet just in time to save the library."

Young-Chul, though worried, does not lose hope. "Let's hope so. But what will happen after the deadline? If they meet, will it be enough to stop the corruption?"

The librarian sighs. "That's something we don't know yet. Everything will depend on the decisions Yuuki and Minho make. Their memories of the library have been erased, but their connection is deep. Perhaps it is that connection that will allow them to find a solution."

Young-Chul looks at the 20 corrupted diaries with a growing sense of helplessness. His eyes meet Jun's, who is analyzing the red-covered diary.

Young-Chul: "Jun, what does this mean? Is it possible that those souls have completely disappeared?"

Jun: (In a deep voice) "I'm afraid so. When records are corrupted, not only are memories lost, but the very existence of those people is threatened."

Jun throws the diary into the air and the fragments of memories scatter like cosmic dust. With a look of horror, he tries to trace the timeline of that diary, but only finds a void.

Jun: "There is nothing. The timeline has disintegrated. That person... has ceased to exist."

The librarian, witnessing this terrible display, rises from his seat and slams the table hard.

Librarian: "Damn it! What have I done? Is this the consequence of my actions? Have I condemned so many souls to nothingness?"

Ji-Hoon and Saem, stunned by the scale of the destruction, exchange worried glances. They've never seen anything like it. The librarian, mired in guilt, seems to suddenly grow older.

Jun approaches the librarian and takes him by the shoulder. "Don't blame yourself. You did what you thought was best. We're all in this together."

At that moment, Ji-Hoon and Saem, feeling a strange connection to the events, pick up their own diaries. A soft light begins to emanate from them, projecting an image of the date: March 9, 2015.

Jun: "Impossible! How is that possible?"

Jun takes the diaries from their hands and examines them closely. Like the others, they project the same date.

Librarian: "This... this means that you... were chosen."

Ji-Hoon: "Chosen? For what?"

Librarian: "To stop this catastrophe. You are the only ones who can save the library and all the souls trapped within it. Your fates are intertwined with Yuuki and Minho's."

Young-Chul, with a mix of wonder and hope, turns to Ji-Hoon and Saem.

Young-Chul: "You are the last hope. Go and find Yuuki and Minho. The future of the library depends on you."

Librarian: "Remember, your mission is to find Yuuki and Minho, and stop the corruption that threatens the library. Take these amulets with you, they will serve as a guide and means of communication. And above all, trust your instinct."

Jun adds: "Just as you wrote your names in your journals to get here, you will have to do so again when you wish to return. But remember, time in the mortal world flows differently. Every second there can equate to days or even weeks here."

Ji-Hoon and Saem, nodding in determination, take the amulets.

Ji-Hoon: "Understood, Librarian. We will not let you down."

Saem: "We will do our best to save the library."

And so, with hope in their hearts, Ji-Hoon and Saem disappear in a trail of light, heading into the unknown mortal world.

Young-Chul: (Whispering) "They have done it. They have set out into the unknown."

Jun: "Let us hope that they find what they seek and that they can stop the corruption."

The Librarian walks over to the window and looks out at the night sky.

Librarian: "The fate of the library is now in their hands. Let us pray that they succeed."

The Librarian turns to Jun. "Jun, have you been able to find any clues as to the location of Yuuki and Minho?"

Jun: "Not yet, Librarian. The timelines are too chaotic. But I don't lose hope. I'll keep searching."

Ji-Hoon and Saem, meanwhile, find themselves standing on an unfamiliar street, surrounded by a bustling city. They take out their amulets and examine them curiously.

Saem: "What does this mean? Where are we?"

Ji-Hoon: "I don't know, but I feel like we need to find someone who can help us. Maybe we can use these amulets to communicate with the library."

They both focus their minds on the amulets, but receive no response.

Ji-Hoon: "It doesn't seem like they work that easily."

Saem: "Don't give up. I'm sure we'll find a way."

Meanwhile, in the library, the ancient book begins to emit an even brighter light. The pages shake violently and an ominous voice echoes throughout the room.

Dark voice: "Time is running out. Soon, all records will be mine."

The afternoon sun filtered through the library windows, illuminating the tired faces of the students studying for the final exams. Yuuki, however, could not find concentration. His gaze was lost out the window, contemplating the gray and cloudy sky. Something was bothering him, a feeling of emptiness that had been with him for days.

On his wrist, the cold metal bracelet seemed to pulse with an unknown rhythm. It was an object he had found some time ago, in a forgotten trunk in the attic of his house. He did not remember how it had gotten there or why he was wearing it, but lately it had been causing him a strange feeling of familiarity and melancholy.

Kenji, his best friend, found him deep in thought. "Hey, Yuuki, everything okay?" he asked, offering him a can of his favorite drink. "You seem lost in the clouds."

Yuuki forced a smile. "Yeah, I'm fine, Kenji. Just a little tired."

Kenji looked at him worriedly. "Don't lie to me. I know you. Is something wrong? Is someone bothering you?"

Yuuki shook his head. "No, it's not that. I just had a weird dream last night."

"Another one," Kenji commented, remembering the strange stories Yuuki had told him lately. "Well, if you need anything, you know you can count on me."

Yuuki nodded gratefully. "Thanks, Kenji."

The bell rang, announcing the end of school. Kenji and Daichi, another of his friends, invited him to spend the afternoon playing a new video game they had bought. But Yuuki declined. He needed to be alone, reflect on his feelings, and try to understand what was happening.

Walking through the lonely streets, Yuuki put on his headphones and turned up the music. But not even the most energetic music could clear his mind. The images from the dream came back to him more vividly: a dark, mysterious place, a voice calling his name... Minho. Who was Minho?

Meanwhile, Ji-Hoon and Saem, guided by the amulet, wandered through the streets near the school. The signal grew stronger as they got closer.

"I think we're close," Ji-Hoon said, looking around carefully.

"I hope so," Saem replied. "I don't want Yuuki to find out about us until we're sure we can help him."

Suddenly, the amulet began to vibrate strongly. Ji-Hoon looked up and saw Yuuki walking in the distance, head down.

"There he is," he whispered, pointing at his friend.

Saem nodded and they both approached cautiously. Yuuki seemed lost in thought, oblivious to his presence.

Saem nodded and they both cautiously approached. Yuuki seemed lost in thought, oblivious to their presence.

Ji-Hoon and Saem cautiously approach Yuuki. Saem's amulet vibrates more intensely, almost pulsing in his hand. Ji-Hoon, however, stops. "Wait, Saem. Something doesn't fit."

Saem frowns. "What do you mean?"

Ji-Hoon points at a group of students walking away. Among them, a young man with brown hair and bright eyes catches his attention. "That… is Minho," he mutters, remembering the descriptions he had found in the library records.

Saem looks at him in surprise. "Minho? The same Minho the records speak of?"

Ji-Hoon nods determinedly. "Yeah, it has to be him. But… why doesn't he interact with Yuuki? They should recognize each other."

As they watch Minho walk away, Yuuki walks past them, completely oblivious to their presence. His gaze is lost in space, as if he is searching for something.

Ji-Hoon pulls out his diary and opens it to a random page. He begins to read quietly, "I met a boy named Minho today. He has a charming smile and…." He stops, shocked. "Wait, this… this can't be."

Saem leans over to read over his shoulder. His eyes widen at the words written in the diary. "But… this is your life. How can the diary know everything?"

Ji-Hoon slams the diary shut. "I don't know, but this changes everything. Our diaries… are writing our story."

A gentle wind caressed the leaves of the trees, while the afternoon sun bathed the park in a warm golden light. Ji-Hoon and Saem sat on a bench, their gazes lost in the horizon. The diaries, open on their knees, revealed pages filled with words that seemed to tell a story that didn't belong to them.

"It's amazing, isn't it?" Saem murmured, his voice filled with wonder. "Our diaries are narrating Yuuki's life as if we were the ones living it."

Ji-Hoon nodded, his eyes fixed on the letters. "And the strangest thing is that we've never been to this place before. How is it possible that our journals know so much about this park?"

"It's as if fate has brought us here, just to show us what we can never have," Saem mused, his voice tinged with melancholy.

At that moment, a bright light emanated from Ji-Hoon's amulet, and the figure of Jin, the librarian, materialized in front of them.

"Thank goodness I was able to establish contact," Jin said, his voice echoing with concern. "Communications were very weak."

Saem and Ji-Hoon were startled. "Jin, we found Yuuki and Minho. They were at school, but we were unable to interact with them," Saem reported.

Jin frowned. "And you could see if they met each other back then?"

"We tried talking to them, but it was as if they didn't see us. And in our journals, there are records of their encounters, but they're incomplete," Ji-Hoon explained.

"That's very strange," Jin admitted. "I'll try checking the timelines, but I don't have much hope."

Ji-Hoon closed his journal tightly. "In our journals, there are memories of Yuuki that don't fit. It's like someone erased parts of her history."

Jin looked visibly worried. "That shouldn't be possible. The library records are unchangeable. Unless…" His voice trailed off, deep in thought.

"Unless what?" Saem asked, intrigued.

"Unless someone is manipulating time," Jin replied, his voice gravelly. "Or perhaps the journals themselves have a power we don't yet understand."

Ji-Hoon stood up, determined. "Jin, we have to do something. We can't just stand by while Yuuki and Minho are lost in time."

Saem nodded determinedly. "But how can we help them? If we enter the mortal world, what will happen to us?"

Ji-Hoon, looking at Jin, paused, "How long has it been since we left?"

Jin frowned, deep in his calculations. "Two weeks, roughly."

Saem started, "Two weeks… and the librarian?"

Jin sighed, "That's the other bad news. I've been looking everywhere, but I haven't been able to find him. The librarian has disappeared."

Ji-Hoon and Saem exchanged a look, understanding the gravity of the situation. Two weeks had passed, the librarian had disappeared, and time seemed to be speeding up. They knew they had to act fast.

"We have to enter the mortal world," Ji-Hoon said firmly. "It's our only hope of finding Yuuki and Minho."

Saem nodded, albeit with some uncertainty. "But how will we do it? And what will happen to us?"

Jin looked at the two of them, knowing the difficult decision they had before them. "To enter the mortal world, you will have to use your journals and describe a life. But remember, by doing so, you will become human and others will see you as such."

Ji-Hoon and Saem looked at each other, aware of the consequences of their choice. They knew the path they had chosen would be difficult and full of danger, but they were willing to face it to help their friends.

Ji-Hoon and Saem stared at the park, their faces reflecting a mix of excitement and nervousness. They knew this was the most important decision of their lives.

"We have to do it, Saem," Ji-Hoon said, his voice firm. "We can't go on like this. We have to help Yuuki and Minho."

Saem nodded slowly. "I know. But what if something goes wrong? What if we lose our memories?"

Ji-Hoon gently took his hand. "Our diaries are different. We can create new lives, new memories. And we will always have the library as our home."

Saem smiled slightly. "Then let's do it."

In the park, Ji-Hoon and Saem have written their new names in their diaries. As they close them, the environment around them begins to transform. The trees become columns, the flowers become lamps, and the bench becomes a sofa. The park turns into a cozy living room. Ji-Hoon and Saem look at each other in amazement. A moment later, they opened their eyes and looked at each other.

"Myeon-Jin," Saem said, speaking his new name with a smile.

"Ye-Jun," Ji-Hoon replied, smiling back.

They looked around, amazed by the change. The familiar park looked different now, more real, more tangible.

"I can't believe we're here," Ji-Hoon said, his voice filled with wonder. "It's like a dream."

"It's amazing," Saem replied, looking around. "I never thought I'd experience something like this."

Just then, they felt a presence behind them. They turned and saw Jin, the librarian, standing there.

"I'm glad to see you," Jin said, with a smile. "I got tired of being cooped up in the library. And I thought maybe I could help you."

Ji-Hoon and Saem were surprised to see Jin in the mortal world.

"I thought you couldn't leave the library," Ji-Hoon said.

"There are ways to do things," Jin replied, with an enigmatic smile. "Now, what do you need to know?"

Ji-Hoon and Saem told Jin about their mission to find Yuuki and Minho. Jin listened intently, his eyes filled with concern.

"Finding them won't be easy," Jin said. "Time is against you. And there are dark forces trying to prevent you from succeeding."

Ji-Hoon and Saem nodded, aware of the challenges that awaited them.

"But you are not alone," Jin said. "I will help you. And together, we will find Yuuki and Minho."

Yuuki lies in his bed, staring at the ceiling. His mind is flooded with thoughts of Minho. Fragmentary, blurry memories of promises made in the library haunt him. The image of Minho, though vague, brings him deep sadness. He clings to the hope of seeing him again, but uncertainty consumes him. The more he tries to remember, the more pain he feels.

"We will always be together," he whispers to himself, remembering the words they exchanged in that magical place. But the image of Minho remains an enigma.

The classroom was filled with a constant murmur. Yuuki, as usual, felt a little out of place. His eyes scanned the room until they rested on the window, where the rays of sunlight drew intricate patterns on the floor.

Suddenly, the door opened and two new students entered. One of them was Myeon-Jin, a smiling boy with brown hair. The other, Ye-Jun, had a calm gaze and a kind smile that invited trust.

Myeon-Jin walked straight to Yuuki. "Hello, I'm Myeon-Jin. Can I sit here?"

Yuuki nodded, feeling a strange nervousness. There was something in Myeon-Jin's gaze that felt familiar, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.

When their hands touched as they shook, Yuuki felt a sensation he'd never felt before. It was like an electric current was running through his body. Their gazes met, and in that instant, time seemed to stop. The sadness in Yuuki's eyes was contrasted by the bright light in Myeon-Jin's. It was as if he was offering her a ray of hope in the midst of the darkness.

In Myeon-Jin's heart, a flame that had been extinguished for a long time was lit. A forgotten promise was re-emerging, a promise to protect someone he had also forgotten.

Ji-Hoon, who was sitting nearby, watched the scene with a mixture of joy and sadness. He was glad to see Yuuki happy, but he couldn't help but feel a little envious. "Fate played us a trick again," he muttered to himself.
