Chereads / The Legacy of the Drakon Sword / Chapter 11 - The war

Chapter 11 - The war

After several months of intense training, Azrael and the First Rising Sun began a patrol outside the castle. The atmosphere was calm, though charged with the tension that always accompanies two warriors of their caliber. Suddenly, from the shadows of the landscape, an unexpected figure emerged, someone they both recognized immediately—the Sage, who, with unknown help, had obtained the Drakon Sword.

Azrael frowned, while a slight sarcastic smile appeared on his face.

Azrael: Well, well... I never thought I'd see you again. How could I not know you were coming?

The First Rising Sun narrowed his gaze, gripping his weapon cautiously.

Sage: Azrael, son of a bitch! Look what I have here!

Azrael stopped dead in his tracks, as did the First Rising Sun.

With a pale face and sweat on his forehead, Azrael spoke, a mix of disbelief and fear in his voice.

Azrael: How is this possible...? How do you have the Drakon Sword? I couldn't even find it!

Sage: Let's just say someone helped me, and since the sword protects me from omniscience, you didn't notice. It was someone very powerful, but I won't say any names. He's also protected from omniscience.

Azrael: You're insane! That sword can destroy time and space, even the existence of the Five Domains!

Sage: And has that happened? No… right?

Azrael: Tsk… You're really a nuisance!

The Sage raised the Drakon Sword, and the ground began to tremble beneath his feet. The mountains cracked, and the sky darkened.

Azrael: Shit… This is bad. Hey, First Rising Sun! I need your help here!

Sage: Oh, and what if I start with you, First Rising Sun?

He raised the sword and pointed it at him.

First Rising Sun: Do you think you can reach me just by pointing at me?

The sword duplicated and appeared behind him. At a seemingly irrelevant speed, First Rising Sun managed to dodge it, but the sword moved again, unleashing destructive rays that left the battlefield in ruins.

Azrael: Shit! This is bad! Old man!

The Sage, possessed by the power of the Drakon Sword, began to unleash a massacre. He eliminated every living being in his path. Even his shadow allies, made up of 500 million soldiers who had been following orders, 15 million fell to the sword's power. Only Erika managed to hide with a spell that made her completely invisible, concealing her presence and magic. In an instant, all the soldiers of the Sombrafel kingdom were annihilated.

Azrael: You damn old man! Nevaeh! Get out of here now! —he shouted desperately.

Nevaeh: B-but Azrael…?

Before she could react, Azrael looked down and saw that the sword had pierced him.

Azrael: Shit… I didn't even see that damn sword coming. What speed is it supposed to move at? And… is it draining my magic? Even if it's infinite, it's weakening me.

First Rising Sun appeared behind the Sage and landed a brutal kick that sent him flying kilometers away, leaving a crater in the ground where he fell.

First Rising Sun: Come on, Azrael! Get that duplicate sword out and heal yourself!

Azrael ripped the sword out of his torso, though his hands trembled from the damage, and used his power to heal his wounds.

Azrael: This won't be easy. That sword doesn't just destroy concepts, it can erase the existence of the Five Domains and the kingdoms. The Fifth Domain is inaccessible even to me, and I have no idea what it contains.

First Rising Sun: You don't need to explain it to me. I also possess omniscience, but I can't know anything about that domain.

Nevaeh: Now it's my time to act! Divine dimensional portal magic! Release!

From the ground upwards, five portals emerged, protecting the castle from being destroyed.

The Sage, restored by the power of the sword, returned to the battle, riding it like a vehicle. The sword was so fast that it grazed the face of First Rising Sun, leaving a thin line of blood on his cheek before destroying one of the divine portals Nevaeh had summoned.

First Rising Sun: Can it destroy a divine portal...? This is bad...

Azrael: Shut up and focus!

Sage: You're going to die! My brother was a good man, and you, Azrael, killed him mercilessly! Monster!

Azrael: The monster is you, crazy! You woke up the power of the sword that the Four Gods sealed for a reason!

Sage: Die!

The Sage unleashed a barrage of attacks. The sword moved at unimaginable speed, launching destructive energy beams from the sky. Azrael dodged quickly, though it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep up.

First Rising Sun took the opportunity to attack the Sage, but he responded with a precise counterattack that forced him to retreat.

First Rising Sun: It's impossible to touch him! And to think he's just a sage who doesn't know how to fight!

Azrael: But he has the all-powerful sword!

First Rising Sun: I know, damn it!

In the midst of the chaos, one of the duplicated swords managed to strike Azrael, piercing him. Several others fell on top of him, pinning him down.

Nevaeh: !!AZRAEL!!

Azrael: Shit… Luckily my shadow power protected me, or I'd be dead.

First Rising Sun: I've had enough of this...

First Rising Sun reappeared beside the Sage, initiating a frantic exchange of blows. Although the Sage wasn't an experienced warrior, the power of the sword compensated for his lack of skill, making him a practically untouchable opponent. The clash of their attacks threatened to collapse the entire kingdom.

Azrael, recovered, joined the fight. The two managed to synchronize, and finally, Azrael found a moment to strike the Sage, knocking him to the ground.

First Rising Sun: Now!

First Rising Sun immobilized the Sage by holding his arms while Azrael repeatedly punched him in the face. Each blow made blood gush in torrents, enough to fill several buckets, but the sword restored the damage almost instantly.

Azrael: Shadow Bind!

Black chains emerged from the ground, wrapping around the Sage and leaving him completely immobile.

First Rising Sun: I won't forgive such insolence!

Before he could act, Azrael stepped forward, blinded by rage, and continued to strike the Sage relentlessly. Despite being tied up and defenseless, Azrael kept attacking him with uncontrolled fury, and the sword fell from the Sage's hands.

Azrael: You damn old man! Stop causing trouble!

He pulled out a shadow sword and began stabbing him repeatedly, even after the Sage was already dead. Blood poured out like an inexhaustible fountain, and Azrael kept going until the body was unrecognizable, completely destroyed.

First Rising Sun stood up and launched a divine ray that disintegrated the remains of the Sage, making sure there was nothing left.

Azrael: If he had known how to fight, we'd be dead.

First Rising Sun: Without a doubt… Yes.

Both fell silent, staring at the chaos around them. They had won, but the cost of the Drakon Sword's power felt like a shadow threatening something even worse.
