Chereads / The Legacy of the Drakon Sword / Chapter 12 - The end

Chapter 12 - The end

Both approached the king and knelt before him.

Azrael: Your Majesty, the enemies are dead, but a sage with the Drakon sword appeared.

King: The what!? I sealed it along with three other gods, how is that possible?

First Rising Sun: It seems like he received help from some being... but I still can't discern which one. Could it be that my omniscience is failing?

Azrael: And what about the concept that protected the sword... One?

The king looks toward the clouds through the royal hall window and says:

King: The sword you saw, Azrael, is not just a weapon of destruction. It is a symbol of division, conflict, and duality that govern this world. But centuries ago, the sage Plotinus left us a legacy of knowledge. He taught that everything that exists, all multiplicity, comes from a single principle: the One. This principle is beyond everything we can imagine, even beyond existence itself.

The king rises from his throne and takes a step forward, with a solemn expression.

King: That sword, in the wrong hands, can unleash chaos. It not only cuts the physical, but also the bonds that connect us to the divine, disintegrating who we are at our deepest level. Plotinus dedicated his life to understanding the One, that primordial unity that is the origin of all forces and forms.

He pauses, his voice growing more intense.

King: The gods, just like men, are born from the One. If we fall into the trap of fighting for this sword, for the power it represents, we will stray from the true order he taught us. The One is not a weapon or a master; it is the eternal flow that guides those who are wise enough to understand it.

He approaches Azrael, his gaze filled with warning.

King: The sword that Plotinus and the arcane gods protected is dangerous not for its power, but for what it does to those who desire it. It blinds them, leads them away from the truth. The One does not destroy or create on a whim. Its power lies in connection, in reminding us that everything is united. If you seek the sword, Azrael, let it be to preserve that unity, not to unleash a new division.

Azrael: I understand, Your Majesty, thank you for your explanation.

Nevaeh: It's incredible! So, if we combine One and Plotinus, would it be called the One of Plotinus?

King: Exactly, Nevaeh, you're a very smart girl. This concept was written on a scroll that holds secrets from millions of years ago. We, as transcendental beings, are eternal, dear Nevaeh. We will never die from aging, but... that sage you speak of, Azrael... Was he old?

Azrael: Yes, but he comes from another domain. He wasn't born here. I suppose someone opened the doors to the other domains and to the domain we belong to. There is a greater force that I can't recognize with my omniscience. What could it be...?

King: Well, I suppose I have to thank you, Azrael. You are worthy of this kingdom...

Azrael leaves the royal hall, with Nevaeh holding his hand. Upon arriving at a nearby park, Nevaeh draws closer to Azrael, and they remain silent for a moment, feeling the peace after the battle.

Nevaeh: (smiling) You know? Even though everything we've been through has been a nightmare, being here with you makes it all more bearable.

Azrael, with a tired but genuine smile, looks at her.

Azrael: The war doesn't end here, Nevaeh, but for now... let's enjoy this moment, surely more enemies will come.

They slowly draw closer, and in the end, they kiss under the soft light of the sunset. The wind caresses their faces while, from afar, the horizon remains uncertain. The first season ends with the distant sound of thunder; the calm may only be temporary, as new threats loom over them.
