Bailey
I wake up to the smell of bacon and any other day I would've bolted to the kitchen but instead I run to the bathroom to puke. When I'm done emptying my stomach, I rinse my face with some cold water before taking the closed extra toothbrush and brushing my teeth, I may have also used a little of Eli's mouthwash. I head to the kitchen to find Eli by the stove wearing a white T-shirt and grey sweatpants "Morning."
He glances at me "Morning, I heard you in there. Are you okay?"
I nod as I pour me a glass of water "All good."
"Well I made you breakfast, I'm not sure if you want any."
My nose crinkles "That's so sweet of you but I don't think I can stomach bacon and eggs right now."
He walks to the fridge "I actually cut up fruits as well for you, so do you want those?"
My chest tightens at his thoughtfulness "Yes please." He grabs a bowl and throws the different fruits in there before pushing it to me "Thank you."
"You're welcome, wife." He winks
I shake my head and eat a strawberry to hide my smile, when he's done by the stove he takes a seat next to me and eats his breakfast. We sit in comfortable silence for a while before I say "I never thanked you for handling the whole wedding, I'm sure it was stressful."
"Yes. The lady at the flower shop thought I was gay, hence why I was doing the planning and not my fiancée."
A laugh tries to break free from me but I hold it in as I say "I'm so sorry, I should've help."
He shakes his head "It doesn't matter, it's done now and we're married."
"Yeah." I continue eating my breakfast before glancing at him "How exactly do we plan on telling Mr Robinson?"
"I have requested a meeting with him later so that's when. The sooner the better. Although I do fear for what he would do to me."
I frown "The worse he can do is fire you."
He glances at me "As the dean that's the worst he can do but as your father, he'll want to do so much more."
I scoff "Don't worry, he doesn't exactly identify as my father as a matter of fact I don't think he even wants that to be a part of his identity."
"Nonsense. He didn't approve of the prom idea for the students, he approved of it for you."
My eyebrows shoots up "What do you mean?"
He shrugs "I saw how he looked when you spoke about wanting prom. I think that's why he asked you to organise it as well."
"Perhaps" I say not at all believing Cory agreed to prom just to please me, he was way too mean that day when he found out we share blood. I watch as Eli eat his breakfast and I ask "Do you want some coffee?"
He glances at me with a raised eyebrow "I would love some coffee."
I nod and stand up to make him a cup. I don't know why but a strange part of me feels like I owe Eli something, because he's always doing things for me.
Showing me the waterfall.
Bought me that books at the bookstore.
Made me dinner.
Married me so that I didn't have to leave Trinity.
…The tattoo.
I glance at him over my shoulder to see his eyes watching me intently and I turn back around to put the pot of water on the stove for his coffee and I ask casually "I saw your tattoo last night, it's pretty cool. When did you get it?"
He's quiet for a moment and I force myself to not look at him "About a month ago."
So while I was away.
"I see." I nod slowly "And what is it exactly?"
"Come on, Bailey. You know what it is."
I tap my nails on the counter before turning to face him "Angel wings?" He nods in confirmation and I ask "Why?"
"Because I missed you."
I huff "Then you could've drawn and stuffed it away in one of your drawers not get it tattooed on you, Eli."
His jaw clenches "Well I didn't want that, I wanted it tattooed on me."
"Why?" I demand.
"You're like a drug to me, Bailey and it's like I can't get enough of you." He stands up and walks over to me not stopping until he's right in front of me and I crane my neck to look up at him "I want you around me all the time. No, I need you around me all the time." He corrects himself and cups my face "I need your warmth, your scent, your presence. Don't you ever stop affecting me like this because I wouldn't be able to deal with it."
I stare at him in absolute awe, I knew I had the same effect on him that he had on me but to hear him put it in such words make my knees feel weak and my walls to lower.
It was all lies, darling. He's mine.
Maya's words play in my head and suddenly the bubble I was wrapped in is shattered. This is the man who lead me on because he wanted to steal my powers. I clear my throat and remove his hands from my face "That's…nice."
His eyes narrow "That's all you're going to say? That's nice?"
I shrug "I don't know what else you want from me."
"For you to acknowledge my words, I strip myself bare for you and all I get is a 'that's nice.'"
I know I'm pissing him off, probably hurting him a bit too and it makes me feel horrible. "Yeah well I stripped myself bare for you too and I got lies and betrayal in return."
He stiffens "I thought we were over that, Bailey. I explained to you why I felt the need to help Maya."
I nod "And I get it, I truly do. I'm sorry for what you and Maya went through but that doesn't mean I'm okay with what you did to me."
He tucks a piece of hair behind my ear "Then tell me what to do to make you forgive me, angel because I'll do anything."
"I don't know, Eli. You figure it out." I move away from him to put off the stove and throw the hot water into his cup and stir it before passing it to him.
He takes it from me with a 'thanks' and a slight frown on his face, I head to the bedroom and say over my shoulder "I'll get ready to go back to campus."
"Got it."
