The lunch bell rang, and the students of Argentum Academy poured out of their classrooms, eager to grab a bite to eat. But Tyrese remained seated, lost in thought.
Lyra walked up to him, a curious expression on her face. "Hey, Tyrese, aren't you going to the cafeteria?"
Tyrese shook his head. "No, I'm good. I brought some snacks." He rummaged through his backpack and pulled out a bag of chips and a sandwich.
Lyra's eyes widened. "Wow, you're prepared. I'm impressed."
Tyrese grinned. "Thanks. I like to be prepared."
Lyra sat down beside him, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "So, Tyrese, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, what's up?" Tyrese replied, taking a bite of his sandwich.
"I was just wondering...do you like it here at Argentum Academy?" Lyra asked, her voice soft.
Tyrese nodded. "Yeah, I do. I've met some really cool people, like you."
Lyra's face turned pink, and she looked away, trying to hide her smile.
Just then, Kael stormed into the room, his eyes blazing with anger. "Well, well, well, look what we have here," he sneered, his voice dripping with malice.
Tyrese's eyes narrowed. "What's your problem, Kael?"
Kael's face twisted into a snarl. "You're my problem, Tyrese. You think you can just waltz in here and steal Lyra's attention?"
Lyra stood up, her eyes flashing with anger. "Kael, stop it! Leave Tyrese alone!"
But Kael was beyond reason. He grabbed Tyrese by the neck, his grip like a vice.
Tyrese tried to struggle free, but Kael was too strong. Lyra begged Kael to let go, and finally, he relented, storming out of the room.
Lyra's eyes were fixed on Tyrese, concern etched on her face. "Tyrese, are you okay?"
Tyrese rubbed his neck, wincing. "Yeah, I'm fine. What the fuck is that guy's problem with me?"
Lyra giggled, a soft, musical sound. "I think he's just jealous."
Tyrese raised an eyebrow. "Jealous? Of what?"
Lyra's face turned pink again. "Of the attention I'm giving you, maybe."
Tyrese's heart skipped a beat. Was Lyra interested in him?
Later that day, after school, Tyrese sought out Professor Alexander, determined to learn more about Lucifer and the history of demons.
"Professor Alexander, can I ask you something?" Tyrese said, knocking on the professor's office door.
Professor Alexander looked up from the book he was reading. "Of course, Tyrese. What's on your mind?"
"I was wondering...what's the story behind Lucifer and the demons?" Tyrese asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.
Professor Alexander leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together. "Ah, the story of Lucifer. It's a long and complicated one, but I'll try to give you the short version."
Tyrese nodded, his eyes fixed intently on the professor.
"Lucifer, as you know, was once a powerful being," Professor Alexander began. "But he became corrupted by his own ambition and greed for power. He rallied an army of demons and launched a war against the gods and all supernatural creatures."
Tyrese's eyes widened. "A war against the gods? What happened?"
Professor Alexander's expression turned somber. "The war was brutal and devastating. Many supernatural creatures were killed or forced to flee. But in the end, Lucifer was defeated and cast out of the divine realm."
Tyrese's mind reeled with the implications. "So, the demons are still out there, somewhere?"
Professor Alexander nodded. "Yes, Tyrese. The demons are still out there, waiting for their chance to strike. And with Lucifer's return imminent, we can expect them to make their move soon."
Tyrese's heart sank. What did this mean for him, for Lyra, and for the rest of the supernatural world?
As Tyrese walked home, his mind was filled with thoughts of Lucifer and the demons. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
When he arrived home, Tyrese flopped down on his bed, trying to clear his head. But as he lay there, he suddenly heard a voice in his head.
"Tyrese," the voice said, its tone low and menacing.
Tyrese's eyes snapped open, and he sat up, confusion etched on his face. "Who's there?" he demanded.
The voice laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "I
"I am the better version of you," the voice replied, its tone dripping with arrogance.
Tyrese's mind reeled as he tried to process what was happening. Who was this voice, and how was it talking to him?
"What do you mean?" Tyrese asked, trying to keep his voice steady.
"You're weak, Tyrese," the voice sneered. "You're just a mere mortal, playing at being a supernatural creature. But I...I am the real deal. I am the one who will bring power and glory to our kind."
Tyrese's eyes narrowed. "Who are you?" he demanded.
The voice laughed again. "You'll find out soon enough, Tyrese. But for now, just know that I'm the one who's been waiting for you. And soon, I'll be the one who's in control."
With that, the voice fell silent, leaving Tyrese feeling shaken and confused. What was going on? And who was this mysterious voice that seemed to know him so well?
