Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Fractured Past

The memory of that fateful night still lingered in Asher's mind like an open wound. It was the night that changed everything, the night that forged an unbreakable bond of hatred between him and Kaelin.

It had started with a charity gala hosted by Kaelin father, a prestigious event aimed at raising funds for underprivileged students. Asher, then a junior, had been nominated for a scholarship, one that would have secured his future and given him a chance to escape the streets.

But Kaelin, fueled by a toxic mix of jealousy and insecurity, had sabotaged Asher's chances. Kaelin's father, a man who had always seemed distant and uninterested in his own son, had taken a peculiar interest in Asher.

Kaelin, hiding behind the door, listened with growing unease. Why was his father being so friendly to this... this nobody? A poor, unknown student who didn't even deserve to breathe the same air as him?

"What's my father doing?"Kaelin thought to himself. "Why is he wasting his time with this poverty-stricken kid?"

As Asher left the study, kaelin's anger simmered just below the surface. He couldn't understand why his father was being so generous to someone who didn't deserve it.

The charity gala was in full swing, with guests mingling and laughing as they bid on expensive auction items. Marcellus, Kaelin's father, stood at the podium, a smile plastered on his face.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it is my great pleasure to announce the winner of this year's scholarship award," Marcellus said, his voice booming across the room.

Asher, standing at the edge of the crowd, felt a surge of excitement. He had worked hard for this scholarship, and he knew he deserved it.

But just as Marcellus was about to announce the winner, Kaelin appeared at his side, a sly grin spreading across his face.

"Father, I think we have a problem," Kaelin whispered, his eyes locked on Asher.

Marcellus's expression turned cold, and he nodded curtly. "Very well, let's take a look."

Kaelin tepped forward, his hand reaching into Asher's jacket pocket. "I think this belongs to you, Father,"Kaelin said, holding up Marcellus's stolen ring.

The room fell silent, with all eyes on Asher. Marcellus's face turned red with anger.

"How dare you!" Marcellus thundered. "You're nothing but a common thief!"

Asher's eyes widened in shock. "That's not mine!" he protested. "I don't know how it got there!"

But no one believed him. The scholarship award was promptly withdrawn, and Asher was escorted from the premises in disgrace.

Asher waited until Kaelin had finished celebrating his victory, until the smile had faded from his face and he was alone. Then, Asher approached him, his eyes blazing with anger.

"You did this, didn't you?" Asher accused, his voice low and deadly. "You framed me."

Kaelin hooked up, a smirk twisting his lips. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, but Asher saw the glimmer of guilt in his eyes.

"Don't lie to me," Asher spat. "I know it was you. Why did you do it?"

Kaelin's smirk grew wider. "You'll never have my father's love," he sneered. "No one will ever take that away from me. I'm sorry if I hurt you, but I don't care. You're nothing to me."

Asher's eyes flashed with anger, but he kept his cool. "I hope I meet you again," he said, his voice dripping with menace. "And when I do, I'll make sure you pay for what you've done."

Kaelin laughed, but Asher saw the flicker of fear in his eyes. "I'm shaking in my boots," Kaelin sneered, but Asher just smiled.

"This isn't over," Asher promised, before turning and walking away.

Kaelin watched him go, a sense of unease growing in his chest. He knew he had made an enemy, and he wondered if he had made a mistake.

Little did Kaelin know, this was only the beginning of a bitter feud that would span years, fueled by hatred, jealousy, and a deep-seated need for validation. The seeds of destruction had been sown, and it would take only a spark to ignite the flames of chaos.

Years later, Asher was now a senior at Ravenwood High, having grown accustomed to the familiar faces and routines of the school. As a local, having grown up in the town surrounding the school, Asher felt a sense of comfort and belonging.

But on this particular day, as he walked down the hallway, he noticed a new face. Kaelin, the boy who had framed him and ruined his chances at the charity gala, stood by his locker, a smirk twisting his lips.

Asher's eyes narrowed. "Well, well, well. Who do we have here?" he sneered, his voice dripping with disdain.

Kaelin's smirk grew wider. "Oh, look who's talking. I didn't know they allowed trash like you in this school."

Asher's eyes flashed with anger, but he kept his cool. "I see you're still as charming as ever, kaelin."

Kaelin shrugged. "I don't need to be charming to people like you. You're just a nobody."

Their classmates began to stare, sensing the animosity between the two boys.

"I never knew I'd run into you again," Asher said, his voice low and menacing. "What are you doing here, Kaelin? Come to sabotage my life again?"

Kaelin's smirk faltered for a moment, before he regained his composure. "I'm just here to get an education, Asher. But I have to say, I'm not surprised to see you here. You always did have a talent for being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Asher's eyes flashed with anger, and he took a step closer to Kaelin. "You have no idea what I'm capable of, Kaelin. And I'm not going to let you ruin my life again."

The classmates watched in awe as the tension between Asher and kaelin escalated. It was clear that this was more than just a simple rivalry - there was a deeper history between these two boys, and it was about to boil over.
