Chapter 2 - The Night Encounter: The First Meeting of Fate(Part 2)

The two walked slowly. Evelyn held her guitar a bit tightly. Perhaps it was because of nervousness, or maybe she hadn't fully recovered from the fright just now. She secretly glanced at Lucas beside her. The night wind blew up the corners of his long black windbreaker. His figure was tall and straight, with an indescribable grace, which made her couldn't help but be fascinated.

Lucas seemed to notice Evelyn's gaze. He turned his head to look at her, with a faint smile on his lips, and asked, "Do you often walk alone at night this late?" Evelyn quickly withdrew her gaze and shook her head gently, replying, "It's usually okay. Today's performance ended a bit late. I didn't expect to run into those people. Thanks to you." When she spoke, her eyes were shining with sincere gratitude.

Lucas frowned slightly and said earnestly, "The city at night seems bustling and lively, but there are quite a few dangers hidden in the shadows. It would be better if you could go home earlier or find someone to accompany you in the future." Evelyn nodded obediently and responded, "Well, I got it. I was thinking of making more money today. I'll pay attention in the future."

Then, Evelyn's eyes fell on her guitar. She sighed softly and continued, "I came to this big city from my hometown town just to realize my artistic dream here. But sometimes it's really tough. Like performing on the street today, the income is also unstable. However, as long as I can get a little closer to my dream, I'll feel quite satisfied." There was a touch of stubbornness on her face, as well as an aspiration for the future. Her appearance stirred up a different emotion in Lucas's heart, as if he was touched by her pure love and perseverance.

Lucas looked at her, with a bit more admiration in his eyes, and said softly, "The process of chasing a dream is indeed not easy, but as long as you have this determination, there will always be a day when it comes true. And I think your performance was quite good. You played the guitar beautifully and your singing was also very charming." Hearing this, Evelyn's face instantly burst into a brilliant smile, like fireworks suddenly blooming in the night sky, bright and beautiful. She said a bit shyly, "Really? You think it's nice. Actually, I'm still constantly learning and practicing. I hope I can step onto a bigger stage in the future."

As they walked and talked, unconsciously, they were getting closer and closer to Evelyn's home. The surrounding environment became much quieter, and only the sound of their footsteps echoed in the silent night.

Evelyn pointed to a somewhat old yet warm small building in front and said, "I live there. Thank you so much today. I can't imagine what would have happened if it weren't for you." Lucas looked in the direction she pointed and said with a smile, "It was just a piece of cake. As long as you got home safely."

At this time, they stopped downstairs. Evelyn looked up at Lucas, with a hint of reluctance in her eyes. After all, this man who had just saved her and had a pleasant chat with her made her have a special feeling in her heart. She bit her lip and summoned up her courage to say, "Well... I still don't know your name. I'm Evelyn. I hope I can see you again in the future."

Lucas lowered his head slightly, his gaze met hers, and said gently, "I'm Lucas. Nice to meet you, Evelyn. I believe we'll meet again." When he said this, there was a certainty in his eyes, as if it was something already predestined.

Evelyn's heartbeat accelerated involuntarily again. She blushed and said, "Well, then... goodbye, Lucas." After that, she turned around and walked towards the building. After taking a few steps, she couldn't help looking back. She saw that Lucas was still standing there, quietly looking at her. His figure looked even taller and more mysterious in the night. She waved at Lucas and then quickly walked into the building.

Lucas watched Evelyn's disappearing figure. The smile on his lips gradually faded, replaced by a pensive look. The appearance of this girl tonight was like a pebble dropped into the calm lake of his heart for a long time, causing ripples one after another. He had walked through the world for hundreds of years, witnessed countless people and things, and his heart had long been accustomed to being calm. However, Evelyn's pure kindness and perseverance in her dream attracted him inexplicably. It seemed that there was an invisible force pulling him, making him want to get closer to this girl and know more about her.

And when Evelyn returned home, she leaned against the door, with the blush still on her face. Her heart was still pounding. The image of Lucas kept popping up in her mind, his deep eyes, charming smile, and extraordinary skills all made her extremely curious. She gently stroked her guitar, thinking in her heart, what kind of story did this man named Lucas have?
