Chereads / Unwanted GirlFriend / Chapter 2 - House Rules

Chapter 2 - House Rules

After the chaos in the morning, the house had finally quieted down. Everyone had showered and cleaned up, but the tension was thick in the air. Sia, clearly fed up, marched into the living room, her face serious and her tone sharp."All of you, sit. NOW."Her voice was so commanding that even Orm, who usually loved to argue, quickly obeyed. Tina and Ling sat on one side of the couch, while Orm and Sia sat on the other. Orm fidgeted nervously, her eyes wide with fear as she glanced at Sia, who was glaring at her like a strict teacher ready to hand out detention.Sia folded her arms and looked directly at Orm and Ling. "You two—what's your problem? Let's solve it today. Because if we can't, one of you will have to leave this house.""What?" Everyone's jaws dropped in unison."What do you mean, leave?" Orm practically yelled, jumping to her feet. "No way! If anyone's leaving, it's Ling. She's the problem here! She's dramatic, she's messy, and she plays the guitar like she's summoning demons!""Excuse me?" Ling snapped, rolling her eyes. "Says the girl who threw my stuff into the street for no reason.""For no reason? You almost killed me with a frying pan!" Orm shot back."I missed on purpose," Ling said smugly. "If I wanted to hit you, you wouldn't be here right now.""ENOUGH!" Sia shouted, making both of them freeze. She sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose. "Let's discuss this properly. Tina, back me up here."Tina shrugged. "Honestly, I don't know how you're still alive, Sia. If I had to live with these two for another day, I'd move out myself.""Thanks, Tina," Sia said sarcastically before turning to Orm. "Now, let's hear you first. What exactly is your problem?"Orm crossed her arms. "My problem? My problem is that you brought her into this house. You knew I didn't like her, but you still made her our roommate.""That's because we needed one!" Sia snapped. "Do you remember what the landlord said about the rent increase? Without a fourth roommate, we wouldn't even be able to live here.""Yeah, and now we're all going to die of stress," Tina muttered under her breath.Ling smirked. "Well, I'm happy to stay if Orm leaves. I mean, I've been here for, what, two days, and she's already acting like she owns the place.""Two days too many," Orm grumbled.Sia groaned. "Okay, stop! Let's make a deal. You two need to promise to live peacefully. No fighting. No throwing stuff. No frying pans. Can we agree on that?"Orm and Ling exchanged glares but mumbled, "Fine."Tina looked at Sia knowingly and whispered, "This is going to happen again, isn't it?"Sia sighed. "Oh, absolutely."Later that evening, Orm sat on her bed, finally enjoying some peace and quiet. She had just opened a book when her ears were assaulted by the sound of violent guitar strumming. She looked down of her bed to see Ling sitting cross-legged on the bed with her guitar, playing as if she was in a heavy metal concert."Do you mind?" Orm snapped, slamming her book shut.Ling looked up innocently. "Oh, sorry. Am I disturbing your intense reading session?""Yes, you are!" Orm yelled. She picked up her book and waved it dramatically. "Unlike you, some of us actually enjoy intellectual activities."Ling raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? What are you reading? Let me see."Before Orm could stop her, Ling grabbed the book. She froze when she saw the cover. It was her own notebook—Ling's Secrets: Do Not Open!"HEY!" Ling yelled, lunging for the notebook, but Orm held it over her head."Oh, what's in here?" Orm teased. "Your crushes? Embarrassing childhood stories? Maybe a confession that you're a terrible cook?""Give it back, Orm!" Ling shouted, jumping up and down to grab it. "Or I swear, I'll—"Orm smirked. "You'll what? Throw another frying pan?"Ling growled and lunged again, but this time Orm dodged and ran out of the room with the notebook. Ling chased her down the hall, yelling threats the whole time. The noise was so loud that Tina poked her head out of her room."What's going on now?" Tina groaned. "Can't you two stop fighting for five minutes?"Orm and Ling froze, the notebook still in Orm's hands. "Uh… nothing," Orm said quickly, shoving the notebook behind her back. "Just… exercising!""Yeah," Ling added, breathing heavily. "Cardio!"Tina sighed. "I'm too tired for this. Keep it down, or Sia will kill you both."---The Next MorningThe next day, Sia was up early, rushing around the house as she got ready for a date. She had dressed up nicely and looked more polished than usual."Wow, who's the lucky guy?" Tina teased as she sipped her coffee."None of your business," Sia replied with a smirk, putting on her shoes. She glanced at the kitchen table, where Orm had prepared breakfast. "Oh, thanks, Orm. I'll eat later—I'm in a rush."Before Orm could respond, Sia was out the door, leaving the untouched plate of food behind.A few minutes later, Ling wandered into the kitchen. She spotted the plate of food and sat down, grabbing a fork. "Wow, looks good," she said to herself, taking a bite.Orm, who was washing dishes, turned around and froze. "Ling… what are you doing?""Eating breakfast," Ling replied casually. "What's it look like?""That's Sia's food!" Orm yelled, marching over and snatching the plate away.Ling frowned. "So? She didn't eat it, and I'm hungry. Yesterday, I made you an omelet, remember? It's only fair."Orm glared at her. "You mean the nasty omelet that ended up on my head? Yeah, thanks for that.""You messed up my omelet first," Ling argued, crossing her arms. "If you're not going to eat this, Tina would've eaten it."Tina, who had just walked into the kitchen, quickly shook her head. "No thanks. I'm good." She whispered under her breath, "That omelet was a curse in disguise. Ling's cooking is the worst."Orm and Ling ignored her, too busy bickering again."You always take other people's stuff!" Orm snapped."And you're always overreacting!" Ling shot back.Tina sighed and raised her voice. "Both of you, sit down and eat before I call Sia back here."That shut them up immediately. They sat at the table, grumbling under their breaths, but ate quietly. Tina finished her coffee and grabbed her bag. "I'm heading to college. Don't kill each other while I'm gone, okay?""Sure," Orm and Ling mumbled in unison, though neither looked very convincing.---Alone in the HouseWith Sia on her date and Tina at college, Orm and Ling were left alone in the house. Ling stayed in her room, unpacking her boxes and organizing her things. Orm, as usual, found an excuse to skip her classes and kept wandering around the house, watching Ling like a hawk."Why are you hovering?" Ling finally asked, not even looking up from the drawer she was sorting. "Don't you have somewhere to be?""Nope," Orm said, leaning against the doorframe. "Just making sure you don't steal anything."Ling rolled her eyes. "Oh, please. Like I want any of your stuff."Orm smirked. "Good, because if I catch you playing your demon guitar again, I'll throw it into the street."Ling smirked back. "Go ahead. I'll throw your secret diary next.""I don't have a secret diary," Orm said defensively."Sure you don't," Ling teased.Their bickering continued until Orm finally got bored and went out to buy snacks. But Ling wasn't fooled. She knew Orm would be back soon, ready to start another argument. Smiling to herself, she went back to arranging her things.
