Chapter 6 - Chapter Six

KEANA

I opened my eyes gradually,to the heavily lit room,my head aches as I try to gradually take in where I was,it was a medium sized room, with tables at the side of the bed, the room is colored blue which keeps it shining.

I tried to sit up but I doubled over, with a sore patch on my body, which I didn't realize was red, I must have cut myself and my wolf healed me fast but it's still sore.

The room is empty, the only noise, the subtle chirping of the bird outside the window. As I tried to sit up again, I winced slightly but successfully did, resting my head on the headboard.

The thoughts of last night rushed to me like it never left. I tried to understand what had happened, me, a mere orphan, a mate to the Almighty Raven, the most brutal Alpha ever known.

A tear slipped down my eyes as I thought about my fate, ending in a wicked relative's possession and then sold out to the highest bidder and now a mate to a monster.

In this time and age, rejection of mates has been abolished and condemned, anyone found out to indulge in it, will be stoned to death, so that is not an option.

I winced as I adjusted my weight on the generously large bed, what I can't understand is why I reacted so much to the mate bond, why did I feel so much pain?.

I've seen my friends when they got their mate and never for once did they show any ounce of pain. I sighed heavily,as I thought of my friend Dunya. What could she be doing now? Does she know I passed out?

I cross my legs, gently over the edge of the bed, and try to rise up from the bed and to my greatest delight I did, my legs wobbled in protest but I didn't let it deter me.

I get close to the door, and make it open but I hear loud whispers, filtering from the other side of the door.

"You need to warn him, Beta Diego, he must be very attending to her needs if not she might die, she looks feeble already and because of his nature, her pain is five times worse" I heard an unfamiliar voice warn, my mind protest against me listening to people's conversations but I think I let my head win.

What do he mean by "his nature"

"I will do just that, healer Simon" I hear footsteps retreat and then to avoid being caught, I open the door and let myself out, coming face to face with Diego.

"Aha, Luna Keana, you are awake now" he said, rather too cheerfully, a stark contrast to the tone of voice I had just heard them speak with.

" Please can you take me to my chambers, I will appreciate your help"I said, after nodding to his question.

"I'm afraid Luna, that is no longer your room, this is now" he replied, gesturing to the room I stepped out from.

"Oh, what about…" I stuttered, trailing off as I almost asked about my friend but remembered that I don't have any right to question a Beta as a slave.

"Your friend has settled in fine, I beg to leave you" he said, curtsying slightly but I stopped him.

"What about my ma… The Alpha" I inquired, quickly correcting myself.

"I have no knowledge of his whereabouts Luna" he curtsey again and walked out, leaving me alone to my worries.

***

It's been two days since that incident happened and I have a chamber to myself alone, but I haven't seen or heard from the man whom the Moon goddess has given to me as a mate.

I've seen Dunya, all settled in and full of smiles as she hugged me happily, even without me uttering a word about my mate.

Guess she read my mind again…

She was looking better than how I left her, I couldn't help but feel a pang of hurt that she moved on without seeing me for two days but I suspect she read Diego's mind as well.

The news, spread like wildfire, that the Alpha has found his mate in the slave he bought, how it spread this fast remains a mystery.

As I sat on the small fancy couch beside my bed, I couldn't help but think about where my mate is, I don't care about him obviously but Rora does, she tugs on me any opportunity she gets, insisting I go looking for our mate, most times I try to shut her out but now it's becoming harder, the calm Rora is becoming aggressive, a side I never knew she possessed.

My gaze flickers to the window,as I watch with solitude, the retreating sun and the appearance of the moon, my heart keeps demanding I do something, if not, I would never behold him.

I pondered for a while as my gaze locked in on the two properties of nature, one fighting for dominance and the other submissively giving way for the other to rise.

I thought to myself, even the calmest humans have their own moment of boldness and I have to take the bull by its horn.

I immediately got up, walked over to the bathroom, took a refreshing shower and towards the wardrobe I went, searching for the best of the new sets of gowns, set in it by my personal maid. Elena.

I had a whole makeover wardrobe, ditching my torn rags, I shook my head as I took in the glamor before me, but this isn't the time to think about all these material things.

Now is the time for me to get an answer, find out why I have been shut out without my permission.
