Chapter 5 - Chapter Five: THE ALPHA'S RECOGNITION

The howl speared through the night, a sound that sent shivers running down my spine. It echoed in the distance, and my heart gave a mad jump.

The rogues were getting closer, and all I could hear was the sound of my pounding heart and their heavy footsteps as they approached, their growls getting louder, and pain slashed through me.

I started running, I couldn't stop. My legs were burning in pain, but I just had to run for my life, even if I was useless anyway. All I could focus on right now was to get to safety.

They were closing in on me with every second and as I ran in the darkness, I had no idea of where I was running to or the direction I was running into. I just needed to keep running.

The ground gave way under my bare feet as I ran, twigs and hanging branches crunching under my feet as I stumbled in the dark. My breath was ragged, and my mind was swarming with confusion, fear, and tension.

I didn't know what was happening, I couldn't even believe it. I felt I was just full of misfortunes; I was pregnant, alone, rejected, and now I was being chased by rogue wolves who might be a threat to my sorry life.

I glanced behind me at intervals as I ran, hoping to see that they were nowhere in sight. I looked to my front and also hoped to see some sign of escape but all I saw was the darkness that embraced me as I ran deeper into nowhere.

The howls grew louder, more fierce, and I could still hear the rustling of under bushes; it was too close; I was too close to death. My body was tense with fear and terror —whatever you may choose to put it —they were right behind me, following my every step.

And then, out of nowhere, the rogues appeared—three of them, their eyes glowing in the darkness, their snarls Sharp and dangerous. Sending fear racing inside me, they circled me, their movements fast, and before I could react, one of them attacked me, knocking me to the ground.

I gasped as I fell to the ground and for a moment, my head went blank. I tried to rise to my feet, but the rogue's grip was powerful.

He growled low in his throat, his claws digging into my shoulders as he held me down. The scent of them—wild, dangerous — filled my nostrils, suffocating me

Tears burned at the corners of my eyes but I fought to stay calm, to push past the fear. I had to survive.

" Please" I begged, my voice barely a whisper, "Please, don't hurt me"

But the Rogues didn't listen. One of them backed out orders to the others and they dragged me to my feet, holding me in place as I struggled. The fear was overwhelming now; it was a suffocating weight that made my chest tighten. I couldn't fight them, there was no way. My body was weak from exhaustion.

"You're coming with us" The rogue who had knocked me down growled, his voice harsh." Don't make this harder than it needs to be"

I tried to struggle free from them, but their hold on me was just too tight, as though I was some prisoner; it felt like iron, tight, and unrelenting. They dragged me on through the darkness, but the forest seemed endless.

With every step I took, it seemed like I was becoming weak and more drained. I was so tired and it looked like I was locked up in a nightmare with no way of escaping.

I was dragged through the trees for what felt like an eternity. My mind was a jumble of confused thoughts. Where were they taking me? What did they want for me?

Finally, we reached a clearing and I saw it—a massive gate in the distance, lights from within casting an eerie glow against the dark sky. This was their Pack. I could feel the weight of their gaze on me, the sense that they were watching, waiting. I wanted to turn and run but my legs felt like lead, my body too weak to move.

The rogue who had been leading the way shoved me forward and I stumbled, nearly falling to the ground.

"Inside" he commanded.

I didn't have the strength to resist, I was too afraid, too exhausted. They pushed me through the gates and the moment I crossed the threshold, I felt the oppressive weight of the pack's presence.

There were others here—more rogues, more wolves—all of them watching me with eyes that were filled with a mixture of curiosity and menace.

After walking for so long, we got to a packhouse. They shoved me to the center of the room where a tall, imposing figure stood. He was regal, his dark eyes Sharp and calculating. His aura was overwhelming and I knew without a doubt that he was the Alpha.

His gays locked on mine the moment I was pushed in front of him. His eyes narrowed, a flicker of recognition passing through them. For a split second, I thought I saw something—something familiar—something that made my heart race even faster.

But then his expression hardened, eyes narrowing in suspicion," What is this?" He demanded, his voice low and powerful, echoing through the grand room.

I stood there shaking under his gaze, too afraid to utter a word. I prayed silently to the moon goddess, not for safety —I prayed for a better death, in a place I knew of.

And then, as the silence stretched on, something shifted. The alpha's eyes widened slightly and his posture stiffened as if a realization had just hit him. His gays locked with mine, and for a moment, it felt like time stopped.

"You," he said, his voice barely a whisper but it was enough.

His words hung in the air, heavy with meaning and my heart skipped a beat.
