Kael's words echoed in Lyra's ears like sharp needles piercing her chest. A deep, unsettling confusion gripped her.
Her parents… No parents would do such a thing to their own child.
Lyra shook her head. "N-No… You're lying, Kael! What are you saying?!" she asked confusedly.
Kael sighed. "I know this is hard for you to hear, Lyra. But I remember now—I didn't kill them for no reason. I had no choice… because they were trying to kill you," he explained.
"No! You're lying!" she insisted.
