"What do you mean, you got scared?"Jackson asked, his voice low and even.
Lexi's eyes darted around the pharmacy as if searching for an escape route. "I just... I didn't expect to see you again," she stammered.
Jackson's confusion deepened. What was she talking about? Wasn't she the escort who ran out on him? Was his sister playing her usual mind games with him, because of the way she was acting, it was as if she thought he didn't know who she was.
And then, like a bolt of lightning, it hit him. She thought he didn't know her as the escort girl, and that was plausible because she'd her mask on, she'd it on throughout the night so She thought he only knew her as the girl he had met at the rooftop of the bar.
A slow smile spread across his face as he realized her plan and he was ready for her, He would play along, see where this little game of hers would lead.
"I'm confused," he said, his voice laced with innocence. "What do you mean, you didn't expect to see me again? We met at the bar, didn't we?"
Lexi's eyes locked onto his, a spark of relief igniting in their depths.
"Yes, we did," she said, her voice trembling. "And I reacted badly that's why I'm apologizing"
Jackson's smile grew wider as he listened to her lies and rumbles with her lips but deep down he loved her, her smile steered something he couldn't comprehend in him.
"Well, I'm glad I ran into you," he said, his voice soft and reassuring. "I've been thinking about you a lot since that night."His heart twitched when he saw her sudden look of shock and cleared his throat "I mean the bar, that night"
Lexi's eyes darted around the pharmacy again, as if searching for an escape route, Jackson smiled and leaned in closer, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone.
"Can I ask you something?" he said, his eyes locked onto hers.
Lexi rolled her eyes in irritation."What is it?"
"What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?"
Lexi's eyes flashed with confusion, then realization, and simply said. "I'm just picking up some medication for a friend,"
"What friend?"His eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze piercing Waiting for Lexi's response.
"My Friend, Suzie," Lexi replied, her voice casual, but with a hint of wariness beneath the surface. He raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the sudden tension.
"Suzie, huh? What's wrong with her?"
Lexi buried her index finger under her teeth, her eyes darting around the pharmacy before focusing on Jackson's face. "She's just...under the weather. Nothing serious."
Jackson's lips curved upward, and his entire face transformed. The sharp angles of his jaw softened, and his piercing blue eyes crinkled at the corners, radiating warmth The smile was like a ray of sunshine, illuminating the entire space around him which made Lexi's breath catch in her throat as she gazed at Jackson's smiling face. She felt like she'd been punched in the gut, her insides fluttering with a mix of excitement and nervousness. It was as if the entire world had melted away, leaving only the two of them, suspended in a bubble of pure, unadulterated attraction.
For a moment, she forgot to breathe. She forgot to think. All she could do was stare, transfixed by the sheer beauty of his smile. It was like nothing she'd ever seen before - a work of art that left her awestruck and wanting more, Lexi's face grew hotter, her skin tingling with a flush of embarrassment realizing he'd started speaking.
"....Suzie feels better soon," he said, his voice dripping with sincerity. "Maybe I can help? I'm a pretty good nurse."
Lexi's smile, her expression smoothed out, and then she laughed, a husky, throaty sound that sent a shiver down Jackson's spine.
"I think we've got it covered, thanks," Lexi said, her smile sparkling with amusement. "But I appreciate the offer."
Jackson grinned nodding and suddenly had a look of tiredness which made Lexi turn back four hefty guys stood behind her which made her yelp a little gaining attention, she bit her lips when she heard Jackson chuckle and turn to face him again. "What the hell?"She screams seeing another beside him again.
"He's Robin" Jackson said still laughing and Robin bowed a little making her bow too, the others filed behind Jackson giving her a proper chance to examine them, first she studied Robin, a man in his early forties, slender with a neat, unassuming appearance that belied his sharp intellect and razor-sharp organizational skills, he was gifted with a pale, oval-shaped face with a pointed chin and a mop of sandy-blond hair that is impeccably styled.
His eyes were a deep, piercing brown that seemed to miss nothing, he stood Elegantly dressed in brown tailored suits that were a shade or two darker than Jackson's, and he carried himself with a quiet confidence that commanded respect.
While the others are imposing figures who exude an aura of quiet confidence and authority. They were all tall, well over six feet, with broad shoulders and chiseled physiques that spoke to their rigorous training and fitness regimens.
The first guard, who stood to Robin's left, had a rugged, weathered face with a strong jawline and piercing blue eyes that seemed to bore into anyone who dared to meet his gaze. His dark hair was cropped short, revealing a distinctive scar above his left eyebrow that added to his intimidating presence. The other, who stood to Robin's right, was slightly taller and leaner, with a more angular face and piercing green eyes that seemed to gleam with a hint of amusement. His black hair was slicked back, revealing a prominent widow's peak that gave him a slightly sinister appearance.
The other two way behind whom she couldn't see more than their attires were dressed in sleek, black vests that accentuated their muscular physiques, and they wore discreet earpieces and sunglasses that gave them a faintly menacing air. Despite their imposing appearance, however, they moved with a quiet efficiency and precision that spoke to their professionalism and training.
"Excuse me, sir," Robin said, his voice low and discreet. "The doctor is ready to see you now."
