Chapter 13 - Rehabilitation facility

Jackson's gaze lingered on Lexi's face for a moment before he nodded curtly. "Very well. Let's go."

Lexi's eyes lit up with relief as Jackson stood up to leave. She was practically praying for this, and now it seemed like fate was smiling down on her, he cleared his throat to bid her farewell and Lexi forced a bright smile onto her face. "It was great running into you again, Sir" She added cos of the looks of the men behind him. "Take care!"

Jackson's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled back at her. "You too, Lexi. Maybe I'll see you around?"

Lexi's heart skipped a beat at the suggestion, but she played it cool, nodding politely. "Maybe."

 "Jackson"

She frowned a bit confused and couldn't help but grin when he repeated and extended his hand for a handshake. "The name is Jackson"

. Lexi took it, her palm touching his for a brief moment. The spark of electricity that ran through her body was unmistakable but she quickly suppressed it, pulling her hand back and muttering "Goodbye Jackson" before scurrying away as fast as she could.

"That girl" He mumbled smiling and then turned to Robin. "I hope it's something worth my time"

The walls of the vice president's space were painted a crisp white, and the floors were made of polished dark wood. The furniture was minimalist and chic, with clean lines and a focus on functionality.

The waiting area was empty, except for a receptionist who looked up from her computer and smiled as Jackson approached. "Good morning, Mr. Reed," she said, her voice friendly and professional. "The doctor is ready to see you now."

Jackson nodded and followed the receptionist down a short hallway to a door marked "Dr. Ethan Kim". The receptionist knocked briefly and then pushed open the door, revealing a spacious office with a stunning view of the city skyline, Jackson walked into the doctor's office, with his signature dominating look, only Robin came in while the other four heavily guarded the door.

Dr. Kim, a tall, imposing man with a strong jawline and piercing blue eyes, looked up from the chart he was reviewing and greeted Jackson warmly. "Good morning, Jackson," he said, his deep voice firm but friendly. "Please, have a seat."

Jackson sat down in the comfortable leather chair opposite Dr. Kim's desk, taking in the various diplomas and awards that adorned the walls. Dr. Kim was one of the top doctors in his field and the vice president while his mom Rachel held the seat of the president, little wonder why he didn't go to her but his matters were his, not his mom and Kim was like his father, had known him since he was a child.

"So, Jackson," Dr. Kim said, leaning forward and folding her hands together, his eyes scanning the chart in front of him. "I'm sure you're aware that your cousin, Lucas's condition has been... stable, for lack of a better term, for the past four years."

Jackson nodded, his expression grim. "Yeah, Kim. I'm aware."

Dr Kim leaned forward, his eyes locked on Jackson's. "Well, I'm pleased to report that we've seen some... encouraging signs, recently. Lucas's brain activity has increased, and we've even seen some minor physical responses to stimuli."

His eyes narrowed, his interest piqued. "What kind of responses?" Jackson asked, his voice low and urgent.

Dr Kim smiled, a small, hopeful smile. "Well, yesterday, one of our nurses reported that Lucas's fingers twitched in response to a loud noise. It's a small thing, I know, but it's a start."

Jackson's face lit up with a mixture of surprise. "That's... amazing," he breathed. "Is there a chance...?"

Dr Kim nodded, his expression cautious. "There's always a chance, Jackson. And I have to say, I'm more optimistic than I've been in a long time. We're going to continue to monitor Lucas's progress, and we'll do everything we can to support his recovery."He leaned back in his chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. "I've been thinking, Jackson. Maybe it's time we started considering other options for Lucas's care. We've been doing the same thing for four years, and while it's kept him stable, it's not going to help him recover."

Jackson's eyes narrowed "What kind of options?" he asked, his voice low and cautious.

Dr Kim hesitated, choosing his words carefully. "I think it's time we considered moving Lucas to a rehabilitation facility. They have the resources and expertise to help him regain his cognitive and motor functions and rest assured we'll make it as discreet as it has always been."

Jackson's face was a mask of uncertainty. He had been so focused on keeping Lucas's condition a secret that he hadn't considered the possibility of rehabilitation. But now that Kim mentioned it, it seemed like a glimmer of hope.

"What are the chances of success?"

Dr Kim guarded his expression, but Jackson could see the hint of optimism and excitement in his eyes. "It's hard to say, Jackson. Every patient is different. But I will say this: Lucas's responses to stimuli are a good sign. It means that his brain is still active, still trying to communicate with the world. With the right treatment and care, it's possible that he could make a significant recovery."

He leaned forward, his eyes locked on Jackson's. "I...I know this is a lot to take in, Jackson. But I want you to know that I'm committed to helping Lucas recover. I've seen cases like this before, and I believe that with the right treatment, he can make a full recovery."

Jackson's snicker, He had been carrying the weight of Lucas's secret for so long, and the thought of finally being able to share that burden with someone else was a relief.

"What's the next step?" He asked, his voice firm.

Dr Kim nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "I'll start making arrangements for Lucas to be transferred to the rehabilitation facility. In the meantime, I want you to start preparing yourself for the possibility that Lucas may wake up soon."

Jackson's eyes widened, his mind racing with the implications. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Kim's expression was serious. "I mean that Lucas may wake up with no memory of who he is or what happened to him. He may not even recognize you, Jackson. Are you prepared for that?"

All of a sudden the door to the office burst open and a stunning woman walked in, commanding the attention of everyone in the room. Jackson's eyes widened in shock as he took in the sight of his mother, Rachel Reed.
