I remember kicking to be free, desperately struggling to fight my way out. One minute I was in a stuffy and tight place and the next I was exposed, soft breeze lashing against my wet limbs
"A girl! It's a girl!"
I heard.
The noise sent me into a crying fit.
Too loud.
I cried harder.
I felt myself being pressed onto a warm body, soft tendrils latching unto me. Warmth flowed into me as I gave into the feeling
"You must feed the child now, bond"
I felt a soft knob of flesh push into my mouth and like a command I began to suckle on it.
"She's feeding"
I felt darkness engulf me.
Elora?
Elora?
Elora!
I gasped and stared at the person calling my name.
"Are you alright?" I stared into my mother's eyes
"Yes Mama" I wiped my mouth and stared at the little Bento cake placed before me with two small lit candles with numbers reading "11"
"Come on, blow on it, make a wish"
I nodded and clasped my hands.
I want to us to be happy family forever
I smiled and blew on the candle, my ears twitching with excitement.
"So, how does it feel to be 11?" I felt a nudge in my side, it was my sister. Eudora.
"I don't know, it feels the same"
She smiled and dug into her plate of sweet rice, I shrugged and picked at my plate, my eyes wandering around
"Is dad late again?"
I saw my mom brush her bright ginger hair behind her pierced long ears, she cleared her throat before speaking
"Baby, I don't think he can make it, he's been busy these days"
I felt my stomach sink, why do dads have to work so much and not have time for their family or eat dinner with them or be at their daughters' birthdays?
"Don't worry, he might come home tonight, then you can tell him all about today"
She pinched my cheeks with the brightest smile I've ever seen.
I closed my eyes and muttered in my head
I want us to be a happy family forever and see Mama smile like this all the time
