Chapter 29 - First Player Kills

"You're sure this is the right village, right?" Kai asked Isla.

He was currently hiding behind one of the many trees surrounding Blamblewick. After all, if he were to be seen by any humans, then they would do their very best to hunt him down, especially since a monster as powerful as him should not be in a low-level area.

Still, being in a low-leveled area, meant that it would be a lot easier to fend off any attackers heading his way.

"I told you already. This is definitely the place, without a doubt. Who are you even looking for in this place? Do you know a human that could help us?" Isla asked, practically joking as she had no belief in such things.

Humans were natural enemies of monsters. There was little to no chance Kai knew one.

"Maybe, who knows," Kai replied mysteriously.

However, there was still one major problem. Kai couldn't simply walk inside the village and go see his little sister. It would not go unseen. That's why, before heading to this village, Kai disconnected and told his sister with the help of his personal AI assistant Hilda to meet him by the Southern Entrance of Bramblewich Village.

Her sister asked him a bunch of questions regarding why they couldn't meet inside the village. However, Kai brushed them skillfully, not giving any information away. After all, he was kind of excited to see his sister's reaction once she learned of his real identity.

She would be the first one to learn of the identity of Notamonster, a player of which Lily had slowly become a fan due to his constant achievements.

It had been a little over one hour since Isla and Kai had been waiting behind that tree near the edges of the Southern Entrance and the meet-up time was about to be reached in little under one minute.

Then, just as the time was about to reach two in the afternoon, a beautiful woman walked out of the South Entrance of the Blamblewick Village. She was wearing a large robe that was typical of mages, highlighting her class. Her appearance truly made her seem as if she was an experienced player. But her behavior, on the other hand, did not show that in the least.

Lily seemed completely lost as she constantly looked around herself. She was acting so weird that even nearby players started asking her questions as to why she was waiting alone in front of the Village Entrance.

And weirdly enough that group of players was solely composed of male players who seemed particularly touchy with his sister.

'Uh… just where is he?' Lily asked, worried that something might attack her out of nowhere.

She still vividly remembered the Mana Sphere that she had seen a week ago, and she wasn't sure if such an event was common.

She had seen on the forums that it was a one-time thing. However, she still was paying attention to her surroundings since such dangers could come out at any given time.

"Hm, what is a cute lady like you waiting around for?"

Suddenly, a group of players appeared before her. All of them had bright smiles on their faces as they greeted her. However, the words they used immediately told Lily that something was off about them.

"I'm just waiting on my friend, that's all."

"Um, who's your friend? Is she also pretty like you?"

Lily shook her head. "He's my brother actually."

The leader of the group began laughing loudly, clearly mocking Kai openly. "And what's your brother's level?"

"He told me that he wanted to keep it a surprise for me…" Lily answered shyly as the men kept getting closer to her, slowly forming a circle around her, making it impossible for her to retreat within the village where the NPCs acting as guards could potentially help her.

"A surprise? That probably means that he's just trash, haha!" The leader laughed. "What about his Mana Core? What rank is it?"

"Ah…uh, he also didn't tell me about it…" Lily replied with much difficulty as the pressure being emitted from those men continued to get higher and higher.

"Haha! Then, your brother really is trash." The man placed his arm around Lily's neck, bringing her even closer to him without ever asking for her consent. "I wouldn't do this usually but since you're pretty cute… if you want, you could join our party that way you would be able to level up much quicker than with your useless brother."

"Uh…" Lily wasn't sure what to say. "I-I don't know."

"Come on." The man grinned. "I think that's a pretty easy choice."

Then, just as the man was about to continue forcing himself onto Lily, the pain suddenly overwhelmed him, especially near his chest.

"Ugh…" He staggered, stepping back as he clutched his chest. "What the hell is happening…"

He dropped onto his knees while looking at his chest, which was now covered in claw marks.

"What… How?"

The man tried looking around himself, but there was not a monster in sight.

"G-Give me a healing potion, quick!" He screamed as loudly as he could. And just as he was about to grab the potion with his right arm, it was cut off, falling to the ground.

"ARGH!"

The party members immediately pulled out their weapons in search of an enemy. But once again, there was no one around them. They were completely alone.

The leader of the group was on the verge of bleeding out as his eyelids were suddenly becoming a lot heavier, his eyes fluttering as he tried to stay awake. However, in the span of a few seconds, a message appeared for him.

[You have been killed by Player Notamonster.]

[Your account will be deleted once you disconnect. Thank you for playing Realms of Monster.]

The leader of the group, Alex, couldn't believe what he read.

"N-Notamonster? But how… why would he kill me?" Alex muttered as he was in the process of disappearing for good as particles began forming all around his body.

Then, after Alex completely disappeared, his friends immediately started running toward the entrance of the village as they heard the name of the one who had killed Alex.

Notamonster.

The legendary player that no one had heard of was here, and he had just killed their friend.

It was their survival instinct to act in their place as they ran for their life toward the village so that the guards could protect them.

However, none of them ever made it inside the village as each of their heads was cut off out of nowhere. It was as if a reaper had decided to end their life for good.

In the end, only one remained and it was Lily who hadn't moved ever since she had seen Alex die in front of her eyes.
