Arc - Rise of the Dawn Arc
Chapter - Vincent Salen
The boy found himself in a simple room. It was illuminated by the moonlight that is coming in from the window. As he woke up, he felt a strange headache, which was normal for him. Whenever he woke up, whether from an unconscious state or from sleep. At first, this pain was unbearable for him, but with the passage of time, he got used to it. However, it still hurts.
"Father, who is he?"
"How about, Let's eat first. Then, we'll introduce ourselves."
The boy in black nodded and didn't say anything else. Tang Yang started to get wary for some reason. He understood that it was because of the mysterious boy. The mysterious boy followed them to the living room downstairs. Tang Yang saw that Na'er was already sitting at the dinner table with a docile appearance.
The group of five started the dinner. There was a happy and melodious atmosphere created at the dinner table. Tang Ziran, father of Tang Yang, and his son were involved in forming this cheerful mood of their family. The presence of two beauties was a cherry on top. The only person who didn't talk very much and maintained a gloomy aura around him was the boy in black. He didn't even eat very much, just a few pieces of bread. Tang Ziran was surprised to see this, as the condition and physique of the boy were completely opposite to his intake of food. All the people encouraged and enforced him to eat more, but he refused them politely. On the other hand, Tang Yang and Na'er were like ravaging dragons. They were unable to control their hunger. Despite the fact that Lang Yue, the mother of Tang Yang, had made extra food today, it still wasn't enough to satisfy the two big eaters. They even ate the lunch Lang Yue had prepared for the other boy to eat. After the dinner had been completed, Tang Ziran was the first to break the silence. While Lang Yue was cleaning the dishes, Tang Ziran asked from Na'er, "Do you remember anything about your family? ... or anything else related to them?"
"N-No ... " Na'er shook her head shamefully. Tang Ziran put his hand on the little girl in affection.
"Then, you want to live with us, or do you want us to send you somewhere else?"
Na'er thought about this for a while and then replied,
"I would be happy if I got to ... l-live with you. I promise t-that ... I won't become a burden on you."
Tang Yang happily replied, "Yay! This is great, I have a younger sister now."
As the matter of Na'er had been cleared for now, Tang Ziran shifted his attention towards the thin and skinny boy.
"Okay! Can all of you spare us some time ... I need to talk to him in private."
Na'er felt very tired, so she went with Lang Yue to sleep.
"Dad, I'm going to meditate now." Tang Wulin went towards his room upstairs. Thus leaving the two of them alone in the living room.
"What's your name, kid?"
"Vincent ... Vincent Salen."
"Do you remember where you came from?"
Vincent remained silent for a while and then replied, "Yes, I know."
"Okay! Then tell me more about you and your family. Seeing your etiquette on the dinner table, I presume that you belong to a prestigious clan. Also, your swords and cloak, although rattled, are still far from normal."
"Yes, you are precisely right, but ... everyone you are talking about has already been killed."
The room suddenly gained its silence. Ziran was sure that if he hadn't taken this as a guess during the dinner table, then he would definitely fall down from his chair right now. Although Ziran couldn't be able to feel the gloomy and dark aura around Vincent like Tang Yang, he got enough experience to tell that the kid in front of him is definitely not a joke.
Na'er is a beautiful and shy girl and about the same age as Vincent and Tang Yang. Anyone who will see her for the first time is definitely going to be stunned ... But this kid ... Either he ignored her completely, or he didn't care at all, which shows that Vincent has a cold and calm personality.
Ziran gathered some courage and asked,
"You meant your whole clan or your family, and ... when and how this happened."
This time, Vincent gave the answer without any delay. Ziran would swear that Vincent's eyes were judging him like a sharp hawk.
"It happened three years ago, my whole family, clan, and village were wiped out. It was the doing of the Dark Douluo."
Ziran's legs were frozen on the mention of the Dark Douluo. He has some idea what kind of mad and twisted entity the Dark Douluo really is. It is because of him that he is living in the Glorybound City, which is a good thing for him for a certain reason. Ziran was sure that he saw a glimpse of revenge and hatred in the boy's eyes, which he was hiding deeply in him.
As Vincent saw that Tang Ziran didn't ask anything else. He stood up and said goodbye to him for taking care of him. Ziran stopped him and said,
"Wait! ... If you want to you can live with us. You also don't have any other place to go, I presume."
Vincent asked face to face from him,
"Why are you helping me?"
"Because this is something I should do. Then, what'll be the difference between me and other people if I don't help others in needy."
Vincent was stunned for a brief moment of time. He was sure that he saw the glimpse of his father in him. In the end, Vincent also accepted his offer. Ziran knew that Vincent was hiding many things from him. But he didn't mind it. He helped the boy with good will and cause. From this day on, Tang Yang's family had five members in it.
