Chapter 2 - Obtained

After leaving their family mansion, despite not like being out in the open due to people's curious gaze, he walked with his nephew to the one of the game's found company which had a sale, but there were many in line in order to get to purchase the game, some by bulks, some by pieces, either way, everyone wanted one, the mere prospect of being able to experience a fantasy world.

Many were there, spending their money without thinking, just because they believed it was a once in a lifetime opportunity which they did not want to waste, without thinking about the possible repercussion.

The young man may have been curious about many things, but he was no fool, he thought they were all just blinded by want, their greed and he knew for fact, things like that usually did not end well.

As they waited, he could feel many eyes on him, some looking at him with curiously while others with disdain, but it was something he had gotten used to over the years, acting as though it did not bother him, even though it stung, he had to stay strong.

He ignored them and chatted with his nephew, as roars from monsters being hunted by hunters outside of the city, could be heard from where they were, it was a common occurrence.

He looked up at the screen on the building that was advertising the game and his eyes narrowed when he noticed the details of it, the world within the game almost looked real, but he shook off the thought, thinking that was not possible.

He admitted to himself, everything looked perfect about the game, from the background to the designs, he could see why people were eager to get it, especially now that it was officially released and the final beta test was finished.

He was a gamer and one of the best within the city, though went under a different name, no one quite knew of, he made a living off of playing different types of games, it was his job, since he could not do much due to his right leg.

However, he did not complain, for he was self-sufficient, but others did not hold the same view as him, within his family, it only added to the list of things they disliked about him, making his life even more miserable than it already was, his life was nothing to brag about, for each direction there was constant trouble.

"Zade!!" His nephew's voice snapped him out of his thoughts, after hearing him call his name and he looked at him then smiled a bit, as it was their turn to collect the gaming equipment.

"Show me your holding pass please," The receptionist at the desk asked them and the young boy showed him their family pass, a card with their names engraved in it.

She scanned it before the machine beside her, scanned their faces for identity verification and once that was completed she handed them back the card.

"Your identities have been confirmed, this game is for all ages, but I do advise you to be aware of where you use it, it is advised to be used in a private space in which you would not disturb the frequency of others around you, do you understand me?" She asked them.

"We understand," Zade responded and she nodded.

The woman handed him a box with the gaming equipment as well as a tablet and a stamp which appeared on the screen where their identities were confirmed and upon seeing that Zade's brows furrowed.

For some reason, Zade had a bad feeling, he did not know why but for the first time in his life, a game made him feel uneasy and he did not know what to make of it, thinking he was just overthinking.

He thanked the woman then they walked out of the building, heading back to their mansion, for it was a short walk.

However, upon arriving back, as soon as they entered the mansion, a loud smack was heard and Zade froze in his spot as he raised his hand to his cheek and his nephew, Ken flinched as he looked at his uncle.

A few of the other family members that were nearby, flinched upon hearing the stinging sound, but none of them reacted more than that, for they were used to it.

"Uncle...." Ken mumbled and Zade's eyes narrowed as he looked up, only to see his father, a man in his late forties, with dark hair streaked in gray, looking down at him with a stern glare.

"Father," He said.

"How many times must I repeat the same things to you, boy? You are not to be seen in public just like that, do you want to spoil our family image? You are already useless as it is, why can you not listen to this one order?!" He spoke in a raised tone and Ken's eyes widened as he glared at his grandfather.

"I am sorry, father, I will not let it happen again, I just went out to get something with Ken," He said and his father's eyes narrowed as he looked at the box in his hand.

"Do not spoil my grandson, Zade, I will not tolerate any of your nonsense, I do not want to have to repeat myself over and over again, do I make myself clear?" He asked.

Seeing what was happening to Zade and how unfair his situation was, the mansion staff were angry on his behalf, but they knew better than to voice their opinions, for they knew it was not their place.

Ken was about to speak up, but Zade raised his hand, gesturing him to stay quiet, he wanted to retaliate, but he did not want to make things worse for his uncle either, so he stayed quiet.

"Crystal clear, father," Zade said then handed Ken his game and ruffled the young boy's hair with a small smile and Ken gritted his teeth, as Zade walked away, heading back to his room.
