Chapter 3 - Needed

Seeing how unfair everything was and everyone was to his uncle, it rubbed Ken the wrong way, he did not like it at all, for his uncle was the person that mattered to him the most, the only person that truly understood him, little did he know, his uncle could have told him the same thing, for the feeling was mutual.

"You guys call yourself a family yet you have no clue about the meaning fo the word and this surely is not it," Ken muttered under his breath, his voice filled with nothing but pure anger, all directed towards the selfish people around him, his so called family.

The young man stormed off to his room with his game in his hands, not before shooting his grandfather a glare, he was startling to dislike the way things worked within their family, by each minute that passed by, he knew none of it was justifiable.

Meanwhile, Zade had returned to his room, closing the door behind him as he leaned against it, letting out a loud and long sigh, as he remembered the way his father slapped him and the look of disappointment and disdain within his eyes.

Zade was strong willed, he could tolerate a lot of things, due to being used to it, but he knew everyone's patience has a limit and he was wondering when he was going to come to his for the feeling within his heart, was becoming insufferable.

He felt lost and his heart felt as though it was clenching in his home or at least the place that was supposed to feel like home, but instead he felt lost and out of place within their so-called perfect world.

He walked over to his bed and sat on the edge, lost in his thoughts, thinking back about everything that had happened in his life, how it all left him broken and alone until his nephew came along.

He placed his cane down and glanced at his right feet, before slowly lifting the foot of his pants upwards, revealing a large scar that was there for quite a few years, a cut so deep, it almost carved into his meat.

He brushed his finger across it and his eyes narrowed as he thought back to when he first got it, which was when he was just a child, in a car accident, one that happened on a stormy night, and they were attacked by one of the wild beasts.

Zade had saved his older brother from getting harmed that night, which caused him to be damaged on that part of his leg for life, yet despite the reason of it all, his family still treated him indifferently, as though his mere existence was nothing more than a curse for them.

He never regretted saving his older brother, who was Ken's father, though he never thought that his life would turn out like that, when he knew he did nothing wrong, they made him question himself every day, as though he was nothing more than an inconvenience to them, something that they had shown him, time and time again.

His hope for a family that he once had and love were long shattered, yet despite all of that, he was still moving forward, even if it was a bit slowly but surely.

He was about to lay back on his bed, when his hand brushed against something and his eyes narrowed as he wondered what it was before turning around, only to see one of the gaming sets he had gotten for Ken, was laying on his bed, right next to him.

"What the hell...." He mumbled as he looked at it carefully and his eyes narrowed, as he wondered how the game had gotten there in the first place.

He knew very well it could not be anyone from his family for just like how they avoided him, they did the same to what was around him.

But, then there was Ken and the staffs around the mansion who had treated him well, given him the little care that kept him going for a while now.

However, given their salaries, only one game their families would be able to afford, for they could not afford to waste any of their money either and he did not need the game, even though he was really curious.

He wondered who left the game there on his bed and why, he did not know how to find them, but he knew he needed a break from everything and everyone around him, which made him give in to the idea of giving it a try.

He began setting up the gaming system, while hoping that it would be able to provide him with some sort of respite, a bit of hope in his life which was no different than being in the center of a storm, something that he had always wanted, he hoped that if what they said in the beta of the game was true, then maybe he would be able to gain something similar.

After a little while, he had finally finished setting up the game, he looked at it and smiled a bit, for everything was ready.

He took a seat on his bed as he leaned against the headboard and switched on the gaming system, while holding the VR headgear in his hand.

Just as he was about to put it on, he began hearing a voice ringing in his ears and his brows furrowed as he gritted his teeth wondering what was going on so suddenly.

He looked around but saw no one around, which made him wonder, where the voice was actually coming from at the time.

"Nothing is as it seems, it is not as you understand and things are about to change, the world is not prepared for what is to come, the path is in your hands," The voice said to him and he shook it off.

He believed he was hearing things, due to which, he just shook off what was said to him and placed the gear on.

Just then a jolt of pain, what felt like something burning, shot through his body, causing him to yelp in pain and his room shook with a small tremor, as the headset had a small glow around it of silver and purple.
