Chapter 2 - Bad news spreading.

The huss morning in Tyle city, a strident and straight forward walk from countless shoes through the slightly busy corridor of the hospital. Asher darts through the long stretching corridor, haste kept those straight feminine legs peeking through her blouse. She barely cared about the murmurs and whispers of pedestrians and workers within the institute.

Her lateness was already a handful to deal with and not having breakfast since she had woken up very late.

Asher arrived at her office, pushing the doors open and rushing for her desk. The room was just as she had left, except the presence of that few bits and pieces of celebration in the atmosphere, probably had been cleaned by the janitor. Taking a look at the time which showed it was a couple of minutes past ten.

She received a sudden call, thinking about the time. An office call, requesting for her to make her way towards the chief chairman of the staff's office. The notice was very short and straightforward, like she had committed an offense; thinking of her late arrival at work today might have caught their attention, she thought leaving for the chairman's office.

She walked very timidly like an easily bullied lamb, gentleness was more than just an attitude when describing Asher, she was the true definition of gentleness and an easy going person. Perhaps the quality which had prevented her from seeing those with ill-intentions when close.

All through the way she received side glances and stares which were very heinous and vain like a murder was let loose and freely parading the hospital.

Asher arrived at the office, knocking on the door before pushing it open and finding the three top most men of the institute seated in the office, after all she had seen them before from her previous orientation. She had meant all three of these men who welcomed her warmly into the institute with a wide open arms, knowing the enormous power they held within the hospital made her more worried; why was she called by them?

Was impunctuality treated as a great offense in this institute. She swallowed her words and walked sheepishly towards a seat which they motioned for her to take.

" Eh,.. Miss Asher. Is there anything you would like to share with us? " The chairman asked, looking at the young woman who seemed very innocent before his eyes.

" Um,.. yes, I will like to apologize. " She said, already accepting her wrong.

" So in that case, you accept all the allegations placed on you? "

" What allegations are you talking about,.. "

" Don't try to act naive and make us stupid. " A man seated beside the chairman berated in anger, his sharp tone spoke how much he was annoyed.

" I don't understand. " Asher said, looking at the man who had once sang praise of her talent in the medical field now berating her.

" The truth has come to light, how you sold yourself to your superior in this institute. Just to gain recognition. "

" What that's-

" Wasn't that why you were apologizing earlier? " An elderly man asked, being the most senior staff still working in the hospital.

" No, I don't know,.. what you're saying. " Asher said, squeezed in her seat and feeling wrong from the leveled allegations placed on her.

" There's a trending video which had you on it, all over the Internet. " The chairman said, seeing the look of incomprehension in the young woman's face.

" I,.. I,.. didn't do anything like that. "

" Then what is this? "

An iPad was dropped on the table before her and picking it up, she saw a photo of her laying asleep on the office couch. Her shoulder was bare open, furthermore a video of her walking out of her superior's office very tipsy like her elderly lover was very rough with her.

" This,.. this is not true. " She said, clasping her mouth with both hands.

" To top it all, the securities confirmed that you left the institute late last night. "

" Miss Asher you are a disgrace, both to your profession and the institute. Selling out yourself just to gain recognition. "

" This,.. its all a lie, I've never done any of such-

" Miss Asher, please. We're asking you go on a suspension, till this clears off the media. "

" But, it's not true. I'm innocent-

" Miss Asher, it's best you cooperate with us and don't cause a scene. "

Faced with all these allegations, she didn't know what to do or say. She had always believed in people, relationships and treating everyone nice, why were they accepting what they saw on the Internet and not believing her who sat before them trying to explain.

" Sir I can justify myself, please I'm innocent. " She said, standing from her seat and looking at them with genuine emotions which spoke of her innocence.

" Miss Asher, it's best you leave the hospital and don't cause any scenes. " The chairman said, fully backed up by the two men in the room.

" But,.. you all saw my qualifications. And I'm ready to undergo any of your test and analysis to prove my knowledge. "

" Miss Asher that's too late now, please. "

They ushered her out the door, clearly not willing to hear her out like she was the greateat sinner on earth. Walking through the silent and misery filled corridor, Asher felt absent minded. Her legs seem to move on their own, was this the much anticipated begin she had hoped for? Why were no one from the room believing her, that wasn't the truth and yet they were all punishing her for what she didn't know or did.

Getting into her office, she broke down into a sob, she felt like a huge stone was open her head and for some reason it was not going to come down anytime now.

{ Dear readers, I promise to write to the best of my capability. Following the story of Asher whose world came tumbling over her and without an option, choosing to pick up the broken piece of the remains.}
