Chapter 1 - ‘Human’

It was a normal day at work for Kael. He woke up early, as always, to the sound of his alarm. "What a lovely way to wake up," he muttered sarcastically. Still feeling sleepy, he got out of bed, opened the curtains, and looked at the forest his father owned. As he stood there, trying to wake up fully, his mother's voice called from downstairs: "Kael, come have breakfast! You'll be late for work!"

Kael sighed and went to the bathroom. He washed his face and put on one of his usual suits. He had about 15 identical ones. Walking downstairs, he saw his parents already eating. He grabbed a quick snack and stepped outside. Lighting a cigarette, he got into his car. Driving through the forest, he thought, "Maybe I should go camping. It's been a while." He sighed again, thinking about his father's constant pressure to marry and have a child. His father wanted to secure the company's future. Kael shook his head and tried to push the thoughts away as he arrived at the company gates.

When Kael entered the big company gates, his assistant quickly came over and told him about his meetings for the day. After a boring day at work, he went home, packed his camping gear, and got ready for a three-day trip. As he walked downstairs, he said, "I'm leaving now, Father."

His father gave him a doubtful look. "Don't forget, you only have three days. Don't go over that time."

Kael smirked. "How could I forget when you remind me every fifteen minutes?" He closed the door behind him and left.

After a 30-minute drive, Kael reached his shelter deep in the forest. He had asked for the shelter to be built as a safety measure against wild animals. After settling in, he looked at the sky and saw it was getting dark. "I should gather some firewood before nightfall," he thought. He collected wood and returned to his campsite, where a tent was already set up. Logs circled the fireplace in the center. He lit the fire and started cooking some beef. Leaning back, he listened to the forest sounds—birds chirping, the wind blowing, and the fire crackling. "I should do this more often," he said softly.

As he started to relax, a rustling noise from the bushes caught his attention. Kael grabbed his gun and aimed it at the sound, staying as calm and quiet as he could. The noise stopped. "Probably just the wind," he thought, feeling relieved. He turned back to the fire, but his heart skipped a beat as he froze in place.

Kael watched the silhouette closely. In the dark, the moonlight lit up its white hair. "Who are you?" he yelled, his voice shaking a little. The silhouette didn't respond but stepped forward, making Kael even more nervous.

"Who are you?" he asked again, louder this time. The figure moved closer. "I'm warning you! Don't come any closer!" Kael shouted, gripping his gun tightly.

The silhouette ignored him and kept coming closer. Kael's hands trembled as the figure stepped into view. It was a girl. Her hair was white like snow, her sharp fangs glinted in the light, her fluffy ears resembled a cat's, and her claws looked as dangerous as a tiger's. But her face was so beautiful, it looked like it had been made meticulously by the god. Then she spoke in a voice as cold as the night: "I need your blood, human."
