Kain Locke
Pain pulsed through my body, sharp and relentless. I lay on the ground, struggling to catch my breath, even the slightest movement sending fresh agony through me. The fall from the snake beast had left me battered in a way, my limbs were aching badly, my ribs screaming in protest. And yet, I was alive because of him.
I rolled my eyes to where he stood over me again, the mask was still in place just like from the other day, he wasn't saying anything, just watching me like a frozen statue.
"Are you leaving like you did the last time?" My voice came out rough, barely more than a whisper. Even though my head pounded as I speak, but, I need answers. It wasn't as if I could get him to talk by staying silent.
He didn't respond, I wasn't expecting him to at least. It was exactly the reason I wasn't giving up.
I swallowed hard, forcing myself to keep talking. "Are you part of the base? Were you also sent here on this mission like us?"
