Kira's POV
"What you just saw are the memories you've been trying to find for years now." The mysterious lady said as she removed her hands from my forehead
"Are you trying to say that the little girl is me? And the man and the woman are my parents?"
"Yes, my child."
"So why didn't I have this memory all these years."
"You remember the last memory flash you got?"
I nodded my head
"That's your mother locking up your memories; your mother was a moon witch who got married to your father, a very rare breed of omega, an omega whose strength equals that of an alpha and might even surpass an alpha's strength sometimes."
"Why would she lock my memories?" I asked amidst tears
"She wanted to protect you from people who were looking for potential moon keepers"
I tried to ask her more questions, but the mysterious lady began to fade away, and the last thing she said was if I accepted my duties as the moon keepers, more secrets and more knowledge would be open to me as I walked on the moon Keeper's destiny.
*******
"Please come back; I still need to know more; I need more information", I screamed.
I opened my eyes to find out that I was already on my bed and everything that had just happened all happened in the dream; I was about panicking and grumbling when I noticed that everything I had seen in the dream was still stuck in my head.
I could remember all the flash memories I saw in the dream not just that I could also remember my mom and dad telling me stories about the moon keepers' duty and how my father's family had been the ones bearing the moon keepers' seige.
I recall her sharing the tale of why moonkeepers hadn't appeared for generations, yet there were whispers of a new moonkeeper emerging soon from their lineage.
I remembered a time she had called me the moon keeper, meaning Mom had always known all along that I was destined to be the next moon keeper in our lineage.
Well, what was I expecting from a moon witch? I had heard tales of moon witches being their strongest when the moon is at its brightest. They get all their revelations from the moon so maybe the moon goddess must have told her something.
Memories began to come back to me, I just sat down quietly and watched as all the memories fought for space In my brain.
After a while, all the flashes stopped, and that was when I noticed that I had gotten all my memories back. It made me wonder who my mom was trying to hide me from.
Now that I had all my memories back, I wasn't still sure if I wanted to take on this responsibility. A lowly omega wolf like me, the moon keeper, I feared that I might disappoint the whole of the werewolf race.
I feared that I might end up getting every single wolf dead. While I was swimming in an ocean of endless thought and a very deep-seated low self-esteem, I heard a knock on the door.
I answered without opening and found out it was Ryker; he had come to check up on me.
I raised the curtain of my windows and found out that it was already dark. I must have slept for about three hours. I stood up and opened the door. Ryker came in
"Are you okay, Kira?" He asked, his voice gentle
"Uhm... yeah... all... is well... umm, I just discovered that my mother restricted my memories, and my parents lost their lives attempting to protect me from those who wanted to destroy the lineage of the moon keepers. I just learned that my mother, a moon witch, already knew I was the moon keeper; she even informed me twenty years ago, but I couldn't recall because she had locked my memories, so am I okay? No, I am not" I let out a phoney laugh.
"Okay, okay, slow down Kira, take in a deep breath, calm down"
I stood up from the bed, giving a fake smile "This is me trying to be calm; I am calm" I began to pace up and down my room, biting my lips and gnawing my fingers.
Ryker stood up and positioned himself in front of me, his hands gently gripping my shoulders as he pleaded for me to calm down and explain what I had just said. Guiding me to sit on the bed, he lowered himself beside me, his presence steady and reassuring.
I began to tell him everything that I had seen in my dream. I could see the shock on his face; he wasn't expecting something like that.
"So now you remember everything" he asked
"Yes, Ryker, I remember every single bloody thing now."
"Then that's good; at least now we are sure of one thing."
"And what's that" I asked pretending not to know what he was talking about
"That you are the moon keeper"
"Uhmm about that" I stuttered "I don't think I can be this...moon keeper"
"Why?" Ryker asked concern laced in his tone
"I am not fit for a destiny as huge as this, I can't be this moon keeper"
"You can, Kira, you are stronger than you can ever imagine" he paused, then looked directly into my eyes. "I mean, not just physically now but right in here" he placed his index finger on my chest.
Honestly, it felt kinda weird, but I also felt a kind of inner peace to have his trust. I felt comfortable, and yes, his touch was doing something else to my heart; my heart began to beat faster, and I then stylishly moved his finger away from my chest then took in a deep breath.
Ryker assured me that I could be the moon keeper; he also promised that he was going to support Me and join me on the journey I might have to embark on.
"I don't even know what to do" I lamented
"We would find a way" he smiled widely at me.
Just then, two of his wolf guards knocked on my door, saying that there were enemy wolves in the palace. Ryker's ear stood at the mention of enemy wolves but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
His expression changed when the guards told us that the wolves had come to take me back by persuasion. Immediately, Ryker rushed to the palace; I followed behind and watched how he ordered them to go back to where they came from.
Alpha Asha's wolf guard retreated, but before leaving, they vowed to return—this time with force—to take me back to their alpha.
