Asher's POV
It's been three months since I rejected Kira.
Ever since I had rejected her, I never set my eye on her; I had been living my life with the Luna I had chosen for myself; I couldn't allow some moon god or moon goddess dictate my life for me.
How do you expect someone as strong as I am, one of the most feared alpha among all alpha's? What am I even saying? I am the most feared among all; no one can match my agility, flexibility and quick senses.
Everything was going fine until one day I heard rumours of a legend that was spoken of in the past; this legend, unfortunately, had been forgotten because people had waited for this legend to come to pass, but there was nothing.
So everyone had given up, everyone had begun to leave their life, forgetting about this legend. Then all of a sudden, rumours began to spread among my pack members that there had been sightings and hearings of the moon keeper.
'The moon keeper had risen'
At first, I didn't think it was true. I was an alpha who never believed in the ways of the gods. Why should I? The gods never helped when I lost my parents at a very young age. The same gods allowed my sister to die at the hands of vampires. Why should I ever believe in them?
I allowed the rumor to linger for the first day, thinking it was just a fairytale that would soon fade away—a fairytale that would never come to light. But I was stunned when, after about a week, the rumors had become a household discussion, with people openly talking about it.
The most shocking part of it all was that some people had begun forming support groups for these so-called Moon Keepers, hoping to offer them all the support they might need, whoever they were.
I was slowly losing control of my people, my pack members, to these so-called moon keeper. I was angry and bitter; my people, who I had laid down my life for several times, were beginning to see someone else as a leader who needed their support.
I sent out a message through my wolf guards promising to cut off the limbs of anyone who speaks the name 'moon keeper' This threat only lasted for a few days, but after that, they all forgot.
"What are you going to do about this?" Aria asked pacing in front of me, arms folded "Your pack members have chosen not to listen to you, it seems they are all ready to die for this... moon keeper"
"I am not blind, I can see that," I said angrily
"Then are you just going to sit and watch this so-called moon keeper reap from where they didn't show? Won't you do something about this?"
Just in case you've all forgotten, Aria is my Luna, the one I chose in place of Kira.
"What would you have me do Aria? Kill my subjects? If I do that what kind of an alpha would that make me be? Huh"
"A feared alpha, one who doesn't take trash", she replied, her eyes shining bright as the stars.
I looked away. "No, I can't do that to my subjects."
"Then find this moon keeper, destroy them before they become more powerful, powerful enough to challenge your authority." She said, moving closer to where I sat.
"Oh dear, killing this moon keeper..." I paused. "I don't think it's going to be a good idea to do that; the people would only see me as the enemy."
"Then make them yours" she said firmly then walked away
Her last words kept ringing in my head, 'Make them yours' I stood up from my seat and began to pace around the room, thinking of ways to get this moonkeeper.
I called my beta, Damon. He was my number two; he's also one of the people I trust so much.
"Greetings to you my alpha" he said going down on his knees
"Greetings to you too" I replied beckoning on him to stand
"What can I do for you,,"
I sat him down and then began to ask him what he knew about the whole moonkeeper thing; he began to tell me how he heard that the rumours started from our enemy pack.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked
"Yes I am"
I asked if he knew anything else but he didn't.
I dismissed him, telling him to find more information and implant Spies in the enemy pack just so we could get more information.
*******
Five days after my discussion with Damon.
I was sitting in my luxurious living room when my beta came to inform me that there was someone who wanted to see me.
I knew I wasn't expecting anyone. I never see people I don't want to see or those without an appointment, so I wondered who it might be. After giving it a lot of thought, I decided to let the person in, at least to hear what they had to say.
"I hear you've been looking for information about the moon keeper", the stranger said, coming closer to me.
He was rude, if it was a different scenario I would have killed him on the spot, but I perceived he knew about the moonkeeper
"I caught your little Spies while they were trying to infiltrate my pack," he said rudely
My eye colour changed, and I growled lowly. His rudeness had awakened my wolf.
"Hey calm down big guy, except you don't want to listen to what I have to say about the moon keeper" he said folding his arms "Trust me you would want to sit back and listen to what I have to say" he winked
I growled again; it wasn't me; it was my wolf; yes, my wolf had a mind of his own, that he could manifest anytime he felt a threat around.
This man wasn't a threat, my wolf and I was just pissed by his audacity.
"Who are you" I asked, my voice thick and calm.
"My name is Darius, and I am alpha Ryker's friend"
My wolf almost took full control hearing his name, but I tamed it; I needed to hear what he had to say.
"If you are a friend of Ryker don't you think I would be a fool to let you leave here alive."
He laughed hysterically "You could, but you would need my help If you want to get to the moon keeper."
I leaned back on my chair, gesturing to him to sit on one of the couches in the living room. He began to spill the beans. At first, I was wondering why he started by talking to me about Kira. There were times I had to stop him but he insisted that I would want to listen
I didn't want to hear anything about Kira, though there were times that I had thought about her, but I always pushed the thoughts out of my mind, blaming it on the stupid mate bond.
My ear stood when he told me who the moonkeeper was. It was none other than Kira, Kira, the weak and lowly omega, Kira, who never had anyone to call family, Kira, who could never do anything right, the Kira that I rejected.
It all sounded like a lie to me, I couldn't believe it but something inside of me couldn't completely dismiss the possibility.
"How am I sure you are not just telling me all this just so you could get me where you want me to be?" I asked staring at Darius
"What would I gain if I did that?" he said, standing up from the couch and walking toward me. "Look, Asha, Ryker is my friend, but ever since he met Kira, he's become a completely different person. He barely spends time with me or his pack members anymore. He even helped her find her identity."
"So you need me to take Kira out of the picture so you could have your friend and alpha back?"
"Finito!" He said smiling
"What do I gain from this?" I asked
Honestly, I knew that question wasn't needed, but I just had to ask; I knew what I was going to get from it; I was getting my mate back, and not just my mate, the moon keeper.
"Come on you don't need me to answer that"
I suspected he would ask that
I called on Damon, asking him to get one of our strongest beta to go with him to Alpha Rykers Pack to bring back Kira.
"Let them know that if she doesn't come with you the next time we are coming, we will come with full force"
********
"Where is she" I asked angrily
"We couldn't bring her with us," Damon replied
I had been seated in my living room, paced to and fro for a while, waiting for Damon for about four hours, and they came back alone.
"What do you mean by you couldn't bring her with you?" I asked angrily
"Ryker refused to let her come with us."
