The crowd of students and their excited murmurs filled the air. Everyone looked excited and tense. The awakening of skill will be commenced in a few seconds. Their life will depend on this skill awakening. A boy who is in his late teens and has an athletic looked at the huge tower in front of him. His name is Damian Magnus. He looked at the tower with a serious expression.
25 years it's been since this tower appeared. The humans encountered monsters from the dungeon gates, towers and other monsters infested areas. But as the humanity going to use the nuclear deterent, they found their nuclear weapons although wipe out monsters gave birth new monsters too in the form of undead melted by radioactive materials.
The mutated monsters strengthened by the nuclear elements they rampaged. That's when the awakeners appeared. The awakeners strengthened by a force called mana awakened different abilities after the monsters appeared and they choose to climb the tower in order to grow in strength and protect themselves.
Since then a new hope appeared. The hunters with their mana and awakened skill defended against monster horses and humanity is back to its past but with hunters and other changes in the life. Damian looked at the tower and muttered," it still feels strange to believe a concept of tower in the real life ".
He is travelled to this world 16 years ago. In this world of you can use your mana then you can become an awakener. As long as you can become an awakener you can climb the tower. But your inborn plays a role too. The tower will awaken the inborn skills.
A chance for all awakeners to get their skill. As for how it'll be done. No one knows, some say it's random. Some say it's luck. Some say it's the tower that chooses. Some say it must be related to the awakener. No one knows how exactly a skill is assigned to the awakener.
As Damian is thinking the tower door opened. The new batch of climbers will now be awakened. The tower glowed a bit and the door opened. The students lined up in a row based in their names and age. They're escorted inside one by one. Even if you go, you'll not be awakened immediately.
The tower only commence the awakening after a certain time limit. Damian also entered the tower and after a few minutes the door closed. The surroundings changed and Damian saw himself a cubic room. Damian gazed at the screen and exhaled deeply moving forward. He saw his status screen.

Damian looked at his weapon voucher and tore it. In an instant a screen appeared in front of him. Basic novice weapons are all there. He entered the tower immediately after selecting his weapon. A short sword. The first stage of tower will begin now.
The first stage is to survive two days in the jungle filled with lowest rank monsters in the tower. The goblins, rats, slimes and serpants. Damian entered the jungle and saw different people around. Many already started talking. They forgot the first rule, in tower never start a conversation with a stranger on your initiative until it's absolutely necessary. In tower you're one your own.
Damian looked at the smiles on everyone's faces. Fake. He can feel their eyes, being an orphan he endured the treatment of weak until he awakened in mana and taken by the government of silver alliance for training. He is more of lone wolf most of time and rarely trusts anyone. Damian looked at the bragging teenagers around him and frowned. It's not that he disdains them but he sees them more like idiots who will die first.
