Chereads / My Ex wants to Marry me / Chapter 2 - MEMM: Two

Chapter 2 - MEMM: Two

Saku's POV

I slept late but here I am, already wide awake to help Sakura to get ready for school and once she's done, I need to walk her to the school then come back to the apartment to do the household chores to before getting ready to work.

This is the life I am living for 4 years now after Sakura entered school, and if I must say, it's much lighter now than in her toddler years because that time, I have to bring her to work just to be able to manage being a working Dad.

Thankfully, the owner of the Restaurant doesn't have any bias in selecting employees so despite of having just informal training as a chef, I was able to hold on to this position for 7 years now.

"Good morning everyone!" I greeted my colleagues as I entered the back door.

"Good morning Chef!" They all greeted me back.

"Oh Chef! I just remembered that the Manager wants to talk to you." A colleague told me.

"I see, where is he?" I asked.

My colleague then said that he was in the office, waiting for me so I knocked on the door before coming in.

"Manager? I was told to see you. Is there a problem?" I immediately asked.

"Ah! no! no troubles at all, I would just like to ask if you will be open to a promotion." He said with a smile.

"A-a promotion? but why? I don't think I deserve it, Sir." I humbly inquired.

He shook his head and said "Sakurai, you've been a good employee to this restaurant, isn't it's 7 years now when you started working here?"

I politely nod before reasoning out. "But I'm already contented with this job, Manager. It will also be a waste if I suddenly mess up."

"Are you sure though? I mean this promotion will not only heighten your pay but it will also lessen the work loads you currently have." He explained.

"Then can you please tell me more about it and give me some time to think?" I told him.

The manager then told me that a New Branch will soon be opening, it will be inside a nearby mall and he's planning to refer me as a Branch Manager.

Thinking about it, of course I was tempted not only because of the huge salary increase, but the work load will also be enough for me to spend more time with my daughter. However, if I happen to accept the job, I was told to consider moving into a closer place or at least having a ride so I could easily go back and forth in case of emergencies.

"Maybe I should ask her about it first before deciding." I muttered to myself as I cook.

"Chef! Chef! The manager is calling for you." A colleague said.

"Okay, I'll go. Please keep an eye to the dish." I replied as I removed my apron.

Coming out from the kitchen, I saw the manager talking to someone familiar, and yes, it is Suna.

"Manager, you called for me?" I bowed politely.

"Yes, yes! I called for you, please sit with us." The manager said as he pulled the chair for me, then the moment I sat, I felt a sudden chill.

"What a small world, isn't it Uncle?" Suna suddenly commented.

The manager laughed. "Yeah! who'd have thought that you two know each other, I just referred him as a Branch Manager you know?"

Hearing that remark I whispered to the manager's ear. "Manager, I was still thinking about it. But why does he have to know about it?"

Manager laughs again. "Oh sorry, my bad. I forgot to tell you. Suna, my nephew, is actually the owner of that Branch."

It was then the chill I felt from earlier, suddenly radiates in every part of me, leaving me pale and speechless.

After hearing that, the thought of accepting the promotion was no longer there and all I can think about is the fact that all of this are just too good to be coincidental, so by the time my shift is over, I went straight to the manager and said that I will be declining the offer.

Walking home, the thought of Suna asking to me pops in. "Damn, why does he appear in the worsts times!" I cursed to myself before walking into the apartment.

As I opened the door, Sakura ran to me as usual but what surprised me more is when I saw Suna, sitting comfortably in the couch.

"Uhm, baby? can I ask why is he here?" I whispered to her.

She then whispered back and said. "He said you are angry with him and he wants to apologize so I let him in."

Hearing that, I immediately glared at him but what he returned is his annoying smile.

"Papa, are you really angry with Uncle Suna? But he's nice, he even brought foods for us and played with me when you're still at work." Sakura whispered again.

"No, Papa isn't angry, I just can't understand him. But don't worry, Papa will talk to him later." I just replied before putting her back down so they can play more while I go shower.

After changing my clothes, I finally got out from the room and saw Sakura, sleeping in Suna's arms.

"Sorry, she often falls asleep like that." I said before carrying my daughter to her bed.

"It's fine. It's a rare experience for me to put a child to sleep." He chuckled.

Sitting on the couch, I looked at him and asked. "What got you here? And why is that you already saw at the restaurant but you didn't say a word that you will be coming?"

"Well, I just want to clear things with you, and I didn't say anything there because I'm afraid it'll put you on a spot." He explained.

I nod. "Go on, I'll make you leave if you started talking non-sense." I warned him.

He then nod and continued saying that it really isn't his idea to refer me as a Branch Manager and his Uncle is the one urging him to employ me so I can do my job as a Dad better.

"Then why'd you told her that I'm mad at you?" I asked.

"Because you are and you know how much I hate it when you're angry with me." He replied.

"And how can I not? do you think it's reasonable to just reappear in my life and suddenly propose a marriage?" I questioned him.

"I-I know, it's too sudden to you but it's not for me. Believe me or not, but for the past 10 years even I am with another person, whenever I feel down or broken hearted, it was always you who I think of." He exclaimed.

"But it doesn't change the fact that we are living a different life now, Suna. I already have Sakura in my life and she's all I need. Maybe you're just lonely and still in search for the one but I'm already contented with my life." I told him.

"No, I know and I am sure that it is you I need, Saku. I don't care about the circumstances you've been before and I am willing to be a father to Sakura. Just please give me a chance." He pleaded.

"Are you really out of your mind, Suna? There's a lot of single Omegas there waiting for a single Alpha like you, why settle for someone like me?" I questioned him again.

"But it is you that I want, Saku. I-I just can't leave you alone anymore. I-I'm sorry for letting you suffer alone in the times you needed someone. I-I'm sorry for being a coward and running away. I-I'm sorry, I really am so sorry." He continued to plead as he cried for me.

Feeling guilty, I let him rest his head on my lap as I patted it. "I actually don't get it why are you so sorry for many things, but I do feel that you're genuinely apologizing to me so thank you."

He then shook his head and murmured. "I don't deserve it. I-I was a bad guy, and I hurt you so much."

"What do you mean? We didn't even broke up that dramatically." I asked in confusion.

He then lifted his face up and look me in the eye. "I-It was me who did that to you." He confessed.

As shocked as I can be, I just sat there dumbfounded while he kept crying, muttering all his apologies.

With all those drama, I wasn't able to sleep a wink so after bringing Sakura to school, I went back to my apartment and called out sick at work, while the truth is, I just needed answers from Suna who's still sleeping like a log.

Waiting for him to wake up, I kept myself busy by tending to the household chores but by the time he wakes up, it was already time for lunch.

"G-good morning, sorry for crashing last night." He awkwardly greeted me with his swollen eyes.

"It's fine, just go wash up so we can eat." I said before starting to set the table.

Back from the bath, I invited him to the dining where we both eat in awkward silence, but as soon as we finished eating, I demanded to hear the full story that day.

Flashback of the Incident (10 years ago)

Suna's POV

It's been a week since Saku broke up with me and I am now dating my girl bestfriend whom he's so jealous of.

I was so mad at him for letting his jealousy ruin our relationship and seeing him affected by all of this fiasco makes me more determined to hurt him as much he chose to break up with me.

As impulsive as I can be, I tried every way to mess up with him and it's surprisingly easy because he's worried with every little thing.

One day, I saw him looking all pale and seemed sick, I thought it was just a normal cold or a flu so I tried to close the distance between us but even from a meter away, I could already smell his pheromones and I knew he's on heat.

Using it to my advantage, I waited for him to be completely aware that he is indeed in heat, but as a precaution, I already showered him with my pheromones so no one will dare to touch him, except me.

As the time comes, Saku entered the restroom already groggy and drunk with heat so I took my chance and knotted him with my seed.

By that time, I knew that the possibilty of him getting pregnant is high, but as several days passed by and I see him living his life without no trace of pregnancy, I just decided to let it go and sealed the truth.

A month later, the teacher surprised us with the news of you dropping out and when we tried asking why, all she said was you're sick, but I already knew the truth.

Despite of knowing about it, I just watched you from the sidelines and helped with anything I can while living my life as an Alpha Bachelor.

After having several mates in your abscenes in my life, I just couldn't help but to think about you and how are you fairing up with all the hardships alone.

Suna's POV

"I know I was so wrong doing all that to you and I got no excuse for it. All I want is for you to give me a chance to make it right." I told Saku, but seeing him all stressed out from all the things he only came to know just now, I couldn't blame him so I decided to give him time. "I'll let you rest for now, I'm really sorry." I added before putting up a note with my number, then stood up to leave but the moment I reached the doorstep, Saku fainted making me panic and rushed him to the nearest hospital.
