Back in the examination grounds there would be a sort of announcement as the examinations were actually set to begin at the time. An individual would have come out accompanied by two others, these were the proctors of the examination that would overlook it. The one that stood in front of the others, despite being significantly smaller than the both of them seemed to be the one with the most authority within the course, they were certainly one of the don't let the size fool you types as they seemed far more childish in appearance than anyone else here. They had hair that seemed to cover most of their face and dragged down their back. The girl also seemed to have a very tired expression as if they were forced to be here, they looked more like a homeless girl than some sort of person of authority with the pajamas they were wearing. With the analysis of them over the girl would clear her throat as she spoke into the microphone with a voice matching their tired appearance, but it also seemed like there was an intimidating presence that dripped from her voice.
"Listen up all you kids, if you don't want to be a waste of my time follow the instructions. Go find a partner for the first part of these exams, you'll need it. Now for what the first thing is, well it's quite simple to be honest. There are 32 teams that can be made here, and only 16 of them will be able to pass the first trial. Depending on how you do, if you fail you can either be an F rank, or simply have to retry again next year. Continuing on, to pass you will need to all find a crystal snake, which there are 16 of in the grounds you will be in. If you keep it at the end of 2 days, you will be able to pass. The rules are simple.. Don't leave the area and don't cause any unnecessary death's alright. Now you have a minute to get with your partner before you are transported. If you have something you don't understand you can always call and your question shall be answered."
With her talking all out of the way, June would take a turn towards Gen raising her hand in the air with an open palm. Gen would look back warily before raising his own hand and high fiving them as they came to be along with each other, besides there wasn't really anyone else for either of them to choose. And after their small bit of endearment, a blue aura would encompass the both of them and along with all the other teams around as they began to be transported away into the grounds of the examination.
When the transportation had completed itself, they were now plopped into a different area, a far far different area. They were in some sort of empty city-like area, it seemed to be quite big. Now both June and Gen were on top of an incredibly high skyscraper that the two of them would only look both off of and observe the area.
"Is this.. A place that already existed? Didn't see one like this around. Could it be.." June would ponder in her mind.
"I think that this entire area was made by magic, and probably what's beyond this city too." Gen would say, he seemed just about amazed as she was.
June would look up into the sky, there seemed to be a sun that shone down from above, this would mean that they even recreated that, and possibly everything else in the universe. A slight chill went down the back of June.
"Alright, I- I'm not gonna say anything to that little girl."
Gen would not in concurrence to that. Though when looking more off of the building he would seem a bit scared and almost even fell, June quickly pulled him back up to the center of the rooftop.
"Sorry, I just, well the buildings are so big is all!" Gen would say seemingly nervously as a odd chuckle came from him.
June would sigh. "Well before we do anything we should get an assessment of each other's skills. Well I, uhm.." She would seem to freeze up when she was about to explain, the reason why being obvious. "Well I am very good at being a housewife. And I can summon things you'd find in a house."
Gen would look back at her giving somewhat of an expected reaction before his face would shift, he seemed pleased and almost amused at such a thing, a stretch of curiosity across his face.
"Well, I wonder how that's gonna act in an encounter, but I uh I trust you, you seem strong." He would then take a deep breath seemingly trying to calm his nerves "Well, as you might be able to tell, I am a knight and so I specialize in melee combat. I didn't get some sort of neat special job like you did from the system… But don't worry, I'll try not to slow you down." He would say as confidence built within his voice. He would then make a thought as he looked around the area.
"You won't find a crystal snake in the city though Ms, that means there must be a forest around here. And from what I know they mostly like to live in caves, so we will have to travel somewhere around there. Let's keep ourselves hidden and look out."
June would slightly clap as he finished talking.
"Oh I didn't know you knew so much, but now the only problem is going around undetected.."
And suddenly a short skip would be made as they both had large cardboard boxes over their body with the small hole in it for their eyes.
"And you really think this is going to work?" Gen would say quite untrusting of this.
"Trust me, I played hide and seek with my kids all the time!" June would say with a slight enthusiasm in her voice showing her confidence.
Soon they would start moving around within the cardboard boxes quickly dashing off from building to building, they actually passed quite a few people as not much time passed from the start and some were still plotting while they went off with their fairly simple idea. Something unexpected at least for Gen, was that they had actually gone undetected for Ghengis was that not a single one of them noticed a thing, as if they weren't even there. Some perceptive people simply noted.
"Huh, moving boxes. Strange.."
"No way this actually worked!" Gen would say with an exasperation in his voice, but June suddenly shoved her box into his.
"It won't work if you keep talking darling." June would quietly say back towards him.
Gen's box would seem to quiver at June's passive aggressiveness. But alas they were finally reaching the edges of the city and going out towards that of the forest that they had theorized to be out there. They suddenly stopped at the last building before the forest as they took the boxes off.
"Alright, I think we're clear. Now let's find a cave, let's look over there." Gen would say as he pointed off into one direction with June swiftly nodding. The two would have swiftly jumped off after the direction that they had gone, but for a moment June suddenly snapped her head backwards as if she had felt something following them.
Now they were traversing over in the direction that Gen had pointed, where they would hope to find one of the caves that he spoke of. June would turn over her head towards Gen now that they had some free time, she would want to talk.
"So, I'm curious child. How was your life like before, and who was that girl you said you're doing this all for."
Ghenghis would slow down slightly after she questioned him, he would start thinking more to answer the question of hers.
"My life… well it was quite awesome if I'm gonna tell you." He seemed to look off into the distance as he said that with a weird smile forming onto his face. "Well uh, about the girl, she's this really cute girl that's been my friend since we were kids. She was always there for me and helped me when I needed it… So I want to be a great adventurer to impress her! And when I become the greatest adventurer, I'll go on and ask her on a date."
June would think about what he said, and give her own comment back to him. "Gen, I may not be particularly familiar with how thing's work around here, but I think you should find a reason more, having a reason at all is great though. I just believe that there should be more pushing you if you really think you want to do something like this, besides if she's great like you say and you've known her for long, is this all really necessary?"
Gen would seem to furrow his eyebrows when she talked back, something about her digging seemed to bother him, it showing slightly in his voice.
"June…"
Gen would simply say her name in a slightly cold tone before they both stopped as a cave came into their vision and he would point towards it.
"Hey look, the cave's over there come on." Gen would say completely changing his tone back to a normal one.
June gave a slight side eye towards that of Gen with a concerned look on her face, but he did not even give her a look back and simply jumped off towards the cave as she could do nothing but follow.
The two would now silently walk down the caves, there was tension now between them that almost felt visible within the darkness of the caves, the only thing they could really see is each other as a glow came off of their energy with the rest being pitch black, they only saw glimpses of the shape of the cave as they walked by with it seeming to get narrower and narrower as they traversed and spikes having formed in the cave made it all the more scary, that's when they saw a passage through to another part of the cave. And through this passage there seemed to be a light, but it was a strange red color and not something that was natural, the both of them putting up their guards as they shimmy through the passageway.
When they reached the other side and wandered up to the red light, there appeared to be nothing there? It was simply a floating red light with nothing else surrounding it they looked all around and saw nothing, there was a strange attraction to the light though when they had seen it, and both of them seemingly entranced would go and touch it, but June would stop just before some sort of instinct telling her not too, but it was too late for Gen already had.
There would be a drip that came down onto his head, and when they both looked up there was a giant creature that laced the ceiling, its jaws wide open as it suddenly leaped down upon them with speeds that were blind even to their own eyes. It sent a sonic boom with its sudden leap down towards them and with the minimal maybe foot distance between it and them they had very little time to move out of the way.
