Chapter 15 - Unethical Gamble

Edward and Johnathan walked out of the tent, and proceeded to wander off to the convenience store, and while doing so, Edward texted the group he found something strange, one of them is that Colby is not present. After buying some food, and some drinks, Johnathan and Edward came back to the tent holding a grocery bag.

"Have you found any patterns?" Satoyara asked, curious if there's an easy way to tell the difference between actual humans and fake humans, but they both shook their heads in disappointment, Satoya read their expressions and sighed.

"Not really, but what I found was that very few people have a purple marking on the back of their neck, I can tell it isn't a tattoo." Edward pointed out, as the purple markings were most likely the skin as well. "Or well, unless those purple markings on their necks are a trend I am not aware of then I have no idea." Edward added on.

"If that is the case, that means that the people who are actually human, are indeed in trouble, but that is if those people with the markings are in fact Iyas disguised as people." Satoya claimed as he drank out of a water bottle, he took out a small protein bar from the grocery bag that they brought and took a bite out of it.

"What should we do?" Edward asked Satoya, while the rest of the group were scavenging things to eat from the grocery bag, "these were expensive.." Johnathan pointed out, trying to lighten the mood, but Rayna glanced at him, with an expression reading "Now isn't the time."

"We might need to make a risky gamble…" Satoya claimed, as the chances of the people with a purple marking to actually be non-human is high. "But what if some of them are actual humans?" Sakonori asked, as the chances of the markings to be a birthmark are possible or like what Edward pointed out to be the possibility of an unpopular trend.

"That is also a good point, but we have no choice but to take a gamble." Edward said, but the group looked at each other trying to find a spark of an idea.

"So there's a chance we will become cold blooded murderers? And a chance to be heroes?" Sakonori pointed out with a blank expression. "I mean, better to take action before the negative action starts." Isaac sighed as he got up, before grabbing the last bottle of water.

"Alright Edward, do you still have that one device that looks like a coin but transforms into a rifle?" Satoya asked Edward, as Edward would actually make some weird devices and contraptions in his free time, the more odd thing he made was a microwave that actually froze things.

"Oh..yeah.." He mumbled, embarrassed as he did get in trouble for bringing to a coin slot machine and that coin actually being the coin that turned into a gun.

"This looks, extremely illegal Satoya." Rayna glared at him, questioning if this would work. "Like I said, it's a gamble." He insisted. But as soon as he tried to exit the tent, he gave up. "I can't do this, it feels so wrong." He said as he tossed the rifle to Edward and sat back down.

"So..what's plan B?" Rayna asked as Isaac was nodding himself into sleep but she slapped him awake."Sakonori..Uhm, why don't you hit one of them with your bat, gotta make sure you look like you have the intention to kill too." Satoya suggested to Sakonori, but she instantly shook her head, but the others glared at her for a solid 5 minutes, and she gave in.

"Alright go!" Rayna whispered loudly to her as she slowly left the tent with a bat, she began to search for a person with a purple marking, and she swung.

The person's face got bashed out, teeth and blood spilling out of the person's mouth, but the face started to deform, not because of her small assault, but because it was shape-shifting back into its original form, a standing deer with a large canine, while also having the head of a bat - cat fusion.

The group witnessed the detransformation, and left the tent, Rayna, Edward and Johnathan investigated the body, while everyone in the mall was panicking as they witnessed a murder.

"I didn't mean to hit them that hard.." Sakonori mumbled as she was horrified, while Satoya was comforting him, "Don't worry, it wasn't a person to begin with, just a blood-thirsty murder fiend that would probably kill everyone in this mall.."

"It appears, you all have found out, that is quite a shame." A familiar voice sighed as they slowly approached the group. But before the group reacted to his words, he lunged at Sakonori.

Colby would land a swift swipe sending her pummeling into a pillar, which she was able to survive but would be knocked out from the blow, Satoya conjured up his katana and swung it at him, but his flexibility allowed him to manoeuvre away from the sword, and kicked him across the mall.

Satoya coughed up blood as he confusedly pondered, "Was Lionel sure we were able to take on this?" As soon as he was thinking, he saw Colby above him attempting to land another blow on him, but Isaac made it in time to land a punch on him blasting him to the 2nd floor into a shoe store.
