Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

The Lionheart King's base of operations was located outside the city of Monrovia, nestled within a small town inhabited by many locals.

More specifically…

The military camp of the Lionheart King's army came first, and the families and relatives of the soldiers followed, along with some locals who could not make a living in the city. Together, they formed this small town.

Due to this absolute dependency, the entire town—whether civilians or soldiers—could be said to belong entirely to General Lionheart.

Here, General Lionheart was like an emperor, and no one who came here could challenge his authority.

Entering such a town, one dominated by dictatorship, posed a greater risk than even war-torn areas, as they could face a mob of hundreds or even thousands at any moment.

As the van slowly drove into the center of the town, the members of Team B all wore serious expressions.

They dared not show any signs of complacency!

Long Zhan, sitting in the back row to the right, observed everything outside through the small gap in the vehicle's curtain, trying to gather useful information.

Narrow alleys, intersections, crowd distribution, buildings—he did his best to form a mental map of the area.

This small town was much like other parts of Africa, with low, hollow-brick houses and shacks, mostly single-story structures.

Only a few wealthy residents could afford two-story, flat-roofed homes.

The atmosphere on the streets was even more complex than in the city. Soldiers, wielding weapons, wandered around aimlessly, while armed pickups mounted with heavy machine guns roared through the streets, flaunting their power.

Despite the soldiers wearing flip-flops and sleeveless shirts with shorts, showing no signs of military discipline, they were part of the Liberian regular army!

However, under the warlord tribal system, these soldiers, who belonged to General Lionheart, would not follow any orders from the Liberian government.

It was precisely because of this connection that Team B, having received permission from the Liberian government, had to exercise extreme caution in this town.

Perhaps it was the Lionheart King's excessive confidence, not believing anyone would dare to stir up trouble in his territory.

Or perhaps it was because Team B had chosen to travel in a dilapidated van, a vehicle common in the town, so they did not attract any attention.

Team B reached their destination smoothly, stopping outside a two-story residential building.

The first to disembark was B2 Lei.

Dressed in casual clothes with a travel bag in hand, Lei blended in seamlessly with the local residents, looking no different from the town's black population, and thus attracted no attention.

Even if someone did glance at him, it was likely more due to his fashionable attire.

Lei's movements were natural and swift. He got out of the van, casually walked to the side of the road, and expertly opened the door to the house. Jason, Long Zhan, and the others followed, entering the house swiftly.

Jason and Long Zhan, along with the six others, were not carrying backpacks, only wearing combat gear to reduce their exposure.

This was just an initial reconnaissance, not an operation, and combat attire was sufficient.

Moreover, each member wore black hoods and cloaks, making them nearly invisible in the dark streets.

The six of them exited the van and entered the house without encountering any issues, smoother than expected.

This house was specifically chosen by local intelligence agents. During the day, they had contacted informants hidden within the town to purchase this "observation house" at a designated location. From here, they could observe the building where Samir and Sabo Sanko were planning to meet.

The second-floor balcony had been specially arranged, with blankets and various clothes hung out to dry, creating a disguise to prevent detection while observing.

All necessary surveillance equipment had been installed, and the intelligence team, including Mandy, could view live footage of the situation outside the target building from their command center.
