Chereads / Being A Navy SEAL / Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Diaz, accompanied by Long Zhan and Clay, passed by three specialized military vehicles and reached the farthest corner of the cabin, near the cockpit.

The area was quite spacious; despite the large number of bundled and packed supplies, there was still ample room to move.

On both sides, close to the cabin walls, rows of seats equipped with secure straps had been installed, allowing for rest during long flights.

In the middle of the two rows of seats were seven sets of packed and organized backpacks and packages.

Each set of backpacks and packages had a specific number, clearly prepared based on the individual requests and needs of each member, ensuring the corresponding supplies and equipment.

"These two sets of gear are prepared for you. The set on the left contains the battlefield first aid medical system, while the other set has some miscellaneous items, which you can think of as an emergency system. How you distribute them is up to you. If you need anything else, feel free to come find me."

Diaz pointed to two of the sets of gear, then turned and left to continue checking the supplies outside the cabin.

"I specialize in battlefield first aid, so I'll take the set on the left. You can take the other one. It's rare to meet a reasonable logistics sergeant, so we should check the gear before we depart to see if we need to add anything."

Navy SEALs are required to specialize in one field while having a backup specialty. Long Zhan specialized in battlefield first aid to increase his survival rate on the battlefield.

Carrying first aid supplies in his backpack meant that, in case of injury during the operation, he could provide immediate self-aid.

That brought a strong sense of security!

"Long, you're really sneaky," Clay muttered, eyeing the other backpack. On the left side hung a large breaching hammer, and on the right side, a portable hydraulic shears. A retractable folding ladder was tied to the front. His expression was worse than if he were crying.

Given how exaggerated the external gear looked, one could imagine that the contents inside wouldn't be light either.

The weight was at least over 70 pounds!

If they were distributing the load based on strength, Long Zhan, with his large build, was clearly better suited for this heavy backpack. But unfortunately, this was a special forces unit.

"Those with the lowest rank do the heaviest work; it's a tradition in the SEALs. Besides, I'm the one who's directly qualified for this. Haha," Long Zhan said, clearly relishing the situation, not showing any sympathy.

With only an E5 rank, Clay couldn't argue. He helplessly crouched down to begin checking the supplies.

DG, the world's most elite naval special forces, had individual combat gear and armor that also met world-class standards.

Usually, each mission's gear and supplies are classified into two main categories—combat gear and backup supplies!

The logistics sergeant would carefully pack them separately. Backup supplies were placed in backpacks and carried on the soldier's back for easy access during combat.

Combat gear, on the other hand, was packed in special travel bags. Soldiers would carry them in hand on the way to the mission site, or hang them on their chest if airborne, only donning them once the operation began.

Long Zhan, with his two years of overseas deployment experience, was already very familiar with checking special forces gear.

Although he was still a rookie in DG, he had already gained a wealth of experience. In any other unit, he would be considered a veteran.

For now, he wasn't concerned with the backup supplies—combat gear, which directly related to life and death, required the most attention.

He opened the special travel bag and marveled at the high-end special gear inside, once again impressed by DG's financial strength.

There were infrared strobe lights and IFF (Identification Friend or Foe) velcro patches for coordinated outdoor night operations, ballistic vests, personal gear, ceramic ballistic plates, and combat uniforms—all in the AOR1 desert digital camouflage pattern.

To provide quality vision for night operations, there were four-eye night vision goggles (GP/NVG series) and an AN-PEQ IR laser pointer.

For daytime operations, there were Eotech G33+Exps3 holographic sights, HK-MP7 submachine guns, M79 grenade launchers, Glock 19 pistols, and short bayonets, among others.

Additionally, there were auxiliary devices like gas detectors, satellite radios, custom noise-canceling headphones, and various other pieces of gear, each carefully thought out for every detail.

While other units might be armed to the teeth, DG's equipment was practically armored down to every last detail.

Using such comprehensive personal combat gear, Long Zhan couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement—it was his first time experiencing this level of equipment. To say he wasn't excited would be a lie.

However, as impressive as the gear was, and as excited as he was, he still had to address any issues that came up.

After all, depending on one's role and specialty, the best gear isn't always the most practical or suitable; the right tool for the right job is crucial.

Looking at his medical specialist gear, the HK-MP7 submachine gun as his primary weapon, the Glock 19 for close combat, and the M79 grenade launcher for long-range fire support, the configuration was indeed solid.

However, with his large build and exceptional battlefield judgment, Long Zhan was basically the template for the support fire team.

For the past two years in SEAL Team 2, Long Zhan had always served in the support fire role, accustomed to using a machine gun to provide fire support for the assault team.

Now, giving him a submachine gun for close combat felt awkward—he was used to heavy firepower, and this felt more like a water gun to him.

"I hope Diaz can find the M249's upgraded version. The Mk 46 or Mk 48 would also work. Once you're used to light machine guns like those, it's hard to go back," Long Zhan thought to himself, planning what additional weapons he would request, and began inspecting the large backpack standing nearly a meter tall.

The backpack, as a carrier for backup supplies, contained supplementary items that didn't require as detailed an inspection as combat gear.

He only needed to know the contents and have a general idea.

Thus, the larger, heavier backpack was checked more quickly than the travel bag.

After finishing with his two packs, Long Zhan planned to find Diaz to swap out his primary weapon, as well as to supplement the necessary accessories and ammunition.

Noticing Clay was still inspecting the supplies, he casually asked, "I've finished here. No big issues, but my main weapon is too low-tier. I need to find Diaz to swap for something more aggressive. You coming with?"

"No need!" Clay slapped the heavily modified, module-equipped short-barrel HK416 beside him. "This one's way better than the one I used in the assault team. It was upgraded by the best gunsmiths. I really like it."

"Alright, that's a shame. Looks like I'll be seeing the 'Black Beauty' alone."

"Good luck, I'm rooting for you. Once you've got her, the bar babes are all mine."

"After what you just said, I've changed my mind. I'm suddenly more interested in the bar babes. Looks like you won't get a chance. Haha."

"Long, you're such a jerk!"

"Haha…"
