Renjiro's instincts screamed at him to act, but he couldn't risk blowing his cover in front of the entire class. Instead, he slouched in his seat, feigning disinterest, while his mind raced through possibilities.
Katsuro Nakamura wasn't just here for a lecture—he was here for him.
The man spoke confidently about cybersecurity and the importance of protecting sensitive information. Most of the students were mesmerized, hanging onto every word. Renjiro, however, noticed the subtle cues: Katsuro's eyes darting to the classroom clock, the slight shift of his weight toward the exit, the briefcase he clutched like a lifeline.
What's in the case?
"Renjiro, are you even listening?" Aiko whispered, nudging him.
He forced a smirk. "Totally. Riveting stuff."
But his attention was elsewhere. Katsuro was wrapping up his talk, and Renjiro needed to act fast.
The moment Katsuro bowed and stepped out, Renjiro followed, making an excuse to Aiko about needing the bathroom. As he slipped into the hallway, he spotted Katsuro turning a corner.
"Target is moving to the east wing," Renjiro whispered into his earpiece.
"Stay on him," Kaito's voice crackled back. "We need to know what he's planning."
Renjiro nodded to himself, keeping his distance as he followed Katsuro down the corridor. The man stopped in front of the faculty room, looked around, and entered.
Renjiro pressed his back to the wall, listening carefully.
"...download the data," Katsuro's muffled voice said. "I'll handle the boy myself."
