The coffee shop across from the school looked ordinary. Busy, loud, and perfect for a meeting nobody would notice. Renjiro spotted Katsuro Nakamura at a corner table, sipping tea and scrolling on his tablet.
Renjiro didn't approach. Instead, he sat a few tables away, his back to the wall. His glasses doubled as surveillance equipment, streaming a live feed to the agency.
"Renjiro," a voice crackled in his earpiece. It was Kaito Ishikawa, his handler. "Don't screw this up. We've already lost two agents tailing him."
"Yeah, no pressure," Renjiro muttered.
He observed Katsuro, noting every movement. But then something unexpected happened—Katsuro looked up and locked eyes with him.
Impossible.
Renjiro quickly looked down, pretending to adjust his bag. When he glanced back, Katsuro was gone.
"Target's on the move," Renjiro whispered. He stood up, weaving through the tables, his heart pounding.
As he stepped outside, a sudden realization hit him. Katsuro wasn't running. He was coming straight toward the school.
