Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Between the Dimensions

He splashed some water on his face, the coldness making him wide awake.

He stared at his reflection, noticing a young pale face, his forehead covered by messy grey hair. His eyes were filled with a weariness that no seventeen-year-old should have possessed.

He pulled out the only attire in his wardrobe that looked like it hadn't been touched even once, unlike his other clothes that were clearly not kept well.

It was evident that this attire was prepared for the awakening ceremony. No matter how he was treated at home, he represented the Ashborn Family when he was taking part in the awakening ceremony.

He wore the new clothes and left the room, finding the servant waiting nervously outside.

"This way, Young Master," the servant gestured, leading him through the corridors of the Ashborn manor.

Elias followed the servant, realizing this was the first time he would truly see this world. He would finally witness the civilization that could manipulate the fate of other worlds.

If he had to bring this civilization to its knees, he had to play by its rules. And the awakening was the most important step in that direction.

He was led out of the mansion, only then grasping the reality of the world he had landed in.

Right outside the mansion stood a grand spaceship, more magnificent than anything he had ever imagined.

Its sleek, silver body was shining brightly under the sun. There was a symbol of the Ashborn Family on the body of the spaceship which was slowly moving from one place to another, as if it was truly alive.

The ship was at least two thousand meters long, and so wide that even if a thousand people stood shoulder to shoulder, they still couldn't cover its width.

Elias couldn't even take in the entire ship in one glance, and standing behind him was the mansion, which was even bigger than the ship.

As he had been limited to just one room, he hadn't realized how grand the Ashborn Family Mansion truly was.

He was led towards the ship that was going to escort him. When they reached the entrance of the ship, Elias saw a person stepping out, as if he had been waiting to welcome him. It was his 'brother'.

"Well, well, look who decided to grace us with his presence," he said, not even trying to hide the sneer. "Don't embarrass yourself too much there, half-breed."

Elias smiled, his own expression being unreadable.

"I wouldn't dream of it," he replied. "I will make sure that I won't disappoint you, in this life."

He sidestepped his brother and continued on his way, leaving the golden boy frowning. For some reason, he felt as if something was wrong with the way Elias spoke, especially his last sentence.

Elias was brought to a room that was definitely more grand than the place he had been staying previously. There was even a large window from where the outside space could be seen.

Elias watched the ship rise in the air, with the Ashborn Mansion becoming a distant sight.

The ship sliced through space. Even if the stars zoomed past the ship, he could barely feel the ship moving. It was just too stable.

"This is their civilization..." Elias mumbled, looking at the scenes that one could only see in their dreams.

The black holes were said to be a scary existence that could destroy everything that they swallowed. But the ship entered a black hole, everything in the surroundings turning completely dark.

For the first time, the ship felt a little unstable, with occasional trembling like earthquakes. Elias even felt like some solid object had slammed against his window, but it wasn't strong enough to break through.

For a long time, the situation remained the same. It only became better when the ship stepped out of the darkness through another back hole, reaching the destination.

The darkness was lifted and Elias was able to see outside the window again. And what he saw left him even more mesmerized.

The sky was bright blue, similar to earth. But more shocking was that there were hundreds of ships that were just as grand as this ship, each carrying a different family's symbol.

This was the world that he had heard the servant mention. It was their destination, the world between the dimensions.

It was the world where the greatest and most magical of the academies was established by great families of various dimensions, the Ashborn Family being a part of it.

It was said that even the weakest students of this world were strong enough to kill millions of people of lower worlds.

This was the world of Dimensional Academy, and also the place where his awakening ceremony was going to take place.

After reaching the world, it didn't take long for the Ashborn Family's Ship to land in an airstrip that was so large that it could be called a world in itself.

Elias was escorted out of the spaceship by a servant of the Ashborn Family. Along the way, he also saw his brother Dreke.

The two of them stepped out of the ship, one after another. From the other ships that had landed in the airstrip, even more youngsters stepped out with their own entourage.

Dreke landed on the airstrip and looked back at Elias. He wanted to say something, but in the end he rolled his eyes and tore a talisman that he was carrying.

"Have the worst of luck, half breed." His voice was left behind before he disappeared.

Elias didn't pay attention to the mockery of Dreke. He was more interested in his surroundings, especially the others that were stepping out of the ship.

They were all the same as Dreke, responsible for so much destruction around the world. However, as long as their own world wasn't affected, it didn't matter to them.

They were simply playing with insects whose lives didn't matter for them after all.

"Elias Ashborn!" Elias was brought out of his daze, hearing a voice.

"Yes?" he responded, but the other person didn't say anything else.

Before Elias could react, the other person simply grabbed his hand and disappeared with him.
