Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Humans of Frost

"Can anyone here tell me why the Destroyer Class is given such importance in our world?" Lilian posed a question to the children who had been assigned to the Destroyer Class.

"Unlike the Creator Class, we can't create anything to help society. We can only destroy. So why? Why are we given such importance?" Her gaze swept over the children.

"Is it because it's one of the strongest classes?" a little girl answered, but with a hesitant expression.

"Anyone else?" Lilian didn't comment on the answer and asked again.

"It's because the others are scared of us," a boy answered, appearing more confident than the girl before him.

"If they're scared of you, why don't they just kill all of you? Why bother training you?" the professor asked, leaving the boy stunned.

For a moment, silence fell over the room. It was only broken when Rey chimed in, "They can't kill us precisely because they are scared. However, they are not scared of us."

"They are scared of the Parents, the strongest beings of the Destroyer Class," he explained.

For the first time, Lilian seemed satisfied with the answer. "It looks like you're not a complete fool."

Hearing her words, Rey's lips twitched. Was she praising him or insulting him? he wondered.

"That answer is correct," Lilian said, her voice rising so everyone could hear her clearly. "The reason we are given importance is because they are scared. The moment they stop being scared is the moment that you would be eliminated without hesitation."

"For now, your Parents are keeping the balance along with other Seniors of the Destroyer Class. But there will come a time when the next generation will have to take over. When your parents are gone, you will need strength."

"Your strength can not only protect you, but also protect your future generations. Here in the Destroyer Class, we give absolute importance to strength! Only those who are strong deserve to survive."

"Throughout your time at the academy, you will have to fight for your evolution. You might have to walk over millions of corpses, so that one day you can instill the same fear in the hearts of your enemies as your parents do."

"To make sure you understand this," she said, clapping her hands. A shadow guard appeared behind her.

He walked forward and placed a mechanical box before Lilian, and disappeared as swiftly as he had appeared.

Lilian placed her palm on the box. It hummed softly, verifying her identity before slowly opening to reveal its contents. The large box seemed to be filled with black analog watches, their hands already ticking.

"There are exactly seventy watches inside." After opening the box, she stepped back. "Each of you will take one and wear it on your wrist."

While the others quickly followed the professor's instructions, Elias was lost in thought. The box seemed to have been prepared long ago.

There were initially seventy-one people who had awakened the Destroyer Class, but only seventy watches were prepared. Did she already expect one of them to die? Or rather, did she want it to happen?

The test was only prepared for seventy people. It wasn't that she arrived too late to save that boy. Instead, she was probably watching it happen.

Even though she looked like a good person, she was still a Destroyer. To reach this stage, she must have destroyed more worlds than he could count. It was normal for life to lose all value in her eyes, as long as it wasn't someone high-profile.

He also walked forward and picked up a watch, again noticing the information about the materials it was made from.

......

Material Composition: Eliestus Metal (40 percent), Teleportation Stone (10 percent), Detection Stone (9 percent), Chronarium Crystal (15 percent), Voidsteel (10 percent), Hide of Phase Panther (6 percent), Starlight Glass (10 percent)

Weight: None

Thickness: 10 millimeters

Material Stability: 95 percent

Extraction Possibility: High Possibility

.......

Just as he had expected, the watch was far from ordinary. Most of the materials seemed somewhat normal, but the teleportation stone and the detection stone stood out from the rest.

After picking up a watch, Elias walked back. Like the others, he wore the watch on his wrist. If it was dangerous, he could always use extraction on it.

"Now, let me tell you more about this class." The Professor raised her hand. Her ring started shining and shot out an illusion. Multiple semi-transparent screens appeared all around the students, created by the illusion.

On one of the screens, Elias saw an apartment building shrouded in snow. Many corpses were lying outside, frozen.

In another scene, he saw a hallway where a group of men were knocking on a door. When the door wasn't opened, they broke it down and rushed inside.

They started beating up the person inside. They left the person bleeding, taking all the food the person had saved as they left.

In the next screen, they saw a room that looked like it was from the same apartment building. The only difference was that the room was warm, and comfortable.

There were heaters running inside the room, keeping it warm. Even though there was no electricity, the owner of that room seemed to have generators within his room. The man was sitting on the couch, eating snacks.

On another screen, he saw a grand mansion under attack from all sides. People were trying to break in, but the mansion's owner was trying to stop them using some unknown spatial power.

The next screen showed mutated beasts attacking a village, only to be stopped by another man that also had some unknown power.

There were even screens which showed scenes that could only be described as truly evil. People were being sold for a can of food.

There were hundreds of such screens, each showing how far humans could fall for their own survival, or how they used the powers that they gained in an apocalypse for their pleasure.

"What you see is the current state of this world. I have been preparing for this stage for a few months. And now it is in the perfect state for your first class," Lilian said.
