Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Three Ways

"Are you the one who created this frost apocalypse?" Elias asked, as that's what her words implied. She also had the power to control the cold, so it all started to make sense.

The only thing he didn't understand was the power that people in this world were using. Did they also use Awakening Stones?

He couldn't help but ask, "Do their powers also have something to do with you?"

"That is correct. However, unlike you, their powers are not permanent," Lilian nodded as if there was no secret to it. "I only used something that allowed them to temporarily gain abilities. However, none of them know that their abilities are only temporary. They seem to believe that it is some kind of mutation."

"Some of them even think that just because they have stockpiled items worth billions of their currency, they can survive for an eternity," she said, not even having the slightest sympathy for them. "It is always fascinating to see their efforts to survive. However, they were never destined for it."

Hearing her words, Elias could clearly see a glimpse of his brother that ruined earth. Then again, everyone in the Destroyer Class was the same. For them, all these lower worlds were a playing field, either used for training or entertainment.

This world's fate was the same as the fate of his world. In some aspects, it was even worse, as these people were living under a false sense of hope.

Although it seemed pitiful, he knew that he couldn't afford to have any sympathy for them. If he grew weak because of his emotions, then he was never going to achieve what he wanted.

Even if he had to go against his own consciousness, he couldn't take a step back. For him, whether it was a lower world or a higher world, they were all his stepping stones.

He didn't question Lilian any further and waited for her to continue with her explanation about the first class.

"Your first class will last for seven days. Those who fail to get satisfactory scores will be expelled. And if you are unlucky, you might even be killed by the other participants before the seven days are up."

"You will get your initial rankings based on your scores. The person with the highest score will also get an additional reward. That person will become the Leader of your class and will gain certain additional privileges in the future."

"How will we be scored? Does it depend on the number of people that we kill in this apocalypse?" a girl asked, breaking her silence.

Just like Rey and Elias, she was also a descendant of a powerful family, but for some reason, she didn't stand out much. She was like a ghost that could erase her presence.

Even Elias seemed curious about her. He remembered seeing her multiple times, but every time he took his eyes off her, it was as if he completely forgot about her.

"There are three ways to gain a score. What you said is the first and most recommended method, as that is the purpose of this test. It will make sure that you come to terms with the deaths of people around you. It will also help you have your first evolution if you are lucky enough."

"The more people or beasts that you kill, the higher your score. The moment you press the buttons on your watches, you will be teleported to a random part of this world. That will be your domain. Only the people you kill within your domain will be counted toward your score."

"For every hundred ordinary living beings, you will get one point. For every human with special abilities, or a mutated beast, you will get one point."

"For fairness, we have ensured that every domain has almost the same number of people. If there are multiple people with the highest score, the time taken for completion will be given priority," Lilian explained.

Many appeared satisfied with her explanation. If it was only about killing the people of this world, then it was truly a safe test for them. Even if they couldn't get the highest score, at least they could survive.

They just had to make sure that they weren't in last place. They didn't care about the lives of the people of this world. They only cared about their own lives.

It was much better than fighting against other classmates, many of whom were much stronger, like Elias, Rey, and the other descendants of the Founding Families.

"What is the second method of getting a score then?" Rey asked the Professor, believing that it couldn't be that simple.

"The second method is to kill a classmate," Lilian answered, sending chills down the spines of those who had just relaxed, thinking that they were safe.

"There are a total of seventy domains. You can enter the neighboring domain of your classmate," Lilian continued with her explanation.

"If you kill ordinary people in their domains, it will only help their score. However, if you kill your classmate instead, you will get all the points that your classmate has gained. That classmate's domain will also become a part of your own domain."

"Just remember that the upper limit on the deaths of classmates is ten. If ten of them are dead, your first class will be over right there, and the scores will be tallied."

Many were horrified at the revelation. Didn't it mean they could actually die if their domains appeared next to the domains of the descendants?

If they were amongst the unlucky ten, then they were as good as dead. Just what kind of class was it? Did they come here to learn or to die?

Unlike them, Rey looked very satisfied. As long as he was in his domain, he had time to become stronger and develop more Elements. After that, he could go straight for Elias if his domain was nearby.

"You said there are three methods? What is the third method?" Elias was the last person to ask the question.

They had already covered killing people of this world or their classmates. If there was really a third method, then it was strange. He didn't think it had anything to do with killing.
