Chapter 55 - Battle for the Palace

Lilith

I managed to get my legs up and around Sebastian's arm, twisting and flinging him to the floor as I rolled out of his grasp. I rolled away from him, shoving myself up onto my haunches as Kain stood next to me. I heard him suck his teeth as Sebastian hauled himself off the ground. Troy came from the inside with the rest of the guards all holding swords and ready to defend the palace. I inhaled deeply as my armor started wrapping itself around me.

"I can fight through the magic she uses, quick write these runes down to make it so we won't succumb to it." I did not hesitate. I bit my hand, drawing blood and doing what Lilly told me to do. I will not let that collar get around me this time, making me useless. And I will save Sebastian, even if it kills me. Sebastian lunged at me as I started drawing the runes. Kain quickly stepped between us, grabbing him and body-slamming him into the floor.

The two men started throwing punches as I finished the runes on my arms. I turned my attention to Marie. Who grinned as her father ordered the men to attack. Troy responded with his own order as I quickly made my way over to Luna to remove her out of harm's way.

I scooped her up as Kain was flung through the air. I ducked; he crashed into the wall as the royal guards clashed with the dukes' guards. I quickly dodged an attack coming from Sebastian as I flung my limp sister over my shoulder. I spun and sent a kick into his jaw, sending him stumbling backward as I maneuvered around the fighting guards and into the palace.

I tossed her body into the foyer; Annalise and the other women were huddling in there, scared. George stood next to them with the maids and butlers. He welded a frying pan and a butcher's knife.

"Close the doors! Don't let anyone in unless it's me." I ordered, as I turned to leave. Annalise grabbed me.

"Please be careful..." She looked at me as I nodded to her. I closed the door; I heard furniture being moved to block the front as I stood up at the top of the stairs. My heart sank as I saw Sebastian's physique slightly turn into Azazel.

"She's mind controlling him with the collar," Lilly hissed. I chewed my lower lip.

"Lilly... let's get him back." The white of my eyes turned black as my gaze locked with Sebastian's. He snarled at me as he threw guards out of the way. I lowered my body to the floor; my target was Marie; I did not want to fight him. I quickly shoved off the floor, flipping around guards and sliding beneath them as I avoided him.

I somersaulted over Troy, landing on the guard he was fighting with my thighs around the enemy's neck. In one quick thrust, I snapped his neck and flipped off the falling body, landing on my feet, ducking as a sword flew past my face. I grabbed it, snapping it in half as my blade from my elbow extended, slicing the attacker's neck. Blood sprayed as I caught Sebastian's clawed hand coming at me.

I ducked, put all my power in my legs and launched myself up, decking him in the jaw and sending him flying. I quickly turned and zipped through the entangled fighting bodies. I finally slid out of the chaos, standing mere feet from Marie.

She giggled as she whipped her fingers at me. I felt a burning pain, but not enough to knock me. I winced as I bared my teeth at her. Panic slowly crossed her face as she tried more spells to subdue me. I took each hit as the runes on my arms started to glow, my body burning. I picked my pace up but was stopped as I felt a searing pain run down my spine.

Gasping, I fell forward, Azazel stood in full form behind me. Marie's eyes widened as a grin ran across her face. Her father begged for them to gain some distance. Before she could answer, he disappeared into the jaws of a giant wolf.

Azazel snapped his attention to Duke Spry being mauled as Marie screamed. The wolf, who was easily bigger than a horse, ripped the duke's head off, flung it, and started ripping into his torso, pulling out his insides and snapping his bones. It stopped, turning and facing Azazel. It bared its teeth, his eyes glowing gold as Azazel launched himself over me, smacking into the creature.

The two rolled, blood flying as Azazel threw a slew of devastating attacks. The wolf wrapped its mouth around his forearm, biting and ripping it clean off. Azazel pulled his arm back as his bone and muscle quickly regenerated, landing a punch into the animal's head.

I quickly ran to the two, throwing myself onto Azazel's back. I tried grabbing the collar, but he reached back, digging his claws into me and throwing me off. I landed on the ground; the wind knocked out of me. The wolf quickly moved out from underneath Azazel, snatching him by the throat and sinking its jaws into him. Azazel roared as he grabbed the creature, throwing it.

I shoved myself off the ground, making a beeline for Marie. I was so close; I reached out to grab her but was yanked away the last second. The ground slipped out from underneath me as I was thrown into the air. Azazel spread his wings, launching himself towards me. My heart sank as I realized I had to fight with all my might. Lilly whimpered as I braced for the impact.

He slammed into me, digging his claws into my stomach as I grabbed his forearm. I ripped him from me, as I shoved my blades into him, slicing him as I cried.

"Please... Sebastian.... Please Azazel..." I pleaded as he grabbed me, spinning me in the air and flinging me towards the ground. My body flew, smashing into the ground as my bones snapped from the force. I cried out as my healing snapped my bones back into place. He dove towards me; I wasn't able to move out of the way. I put my hands up to block at least some of the impact. I kept my eyes closed, waiting for the pain to crash over my body. When it didn't come, I peeked around my arms to see a barrier around me.

I gasped as Cranston stood over by the limp wolf, muttering a spell that stopped Azazel in his tracks. Azazel glared at Cranston as the old man's legs started to tremble. He snapped his attention to Marie, who threw a spell at him. He moved his fingers, drawing a circle as he chanted. A barrier formed in front of him as Azazel smashed to the ground in front of me.

He grabbed my leg, dragging me as I kicked my foot into his face. He didn't let go; he yanked harder, causing my bone to pop from the socket. I yelped as it quickly pulled back, healing. Lilly didn't want to take over. She didn't want to fight her mate. She felt defeated, which was causing my determination to waver.

I felt his claws dig into my abdomen, ripping me open. I closed my eyes as the searing pain ran through my body. Am I really going to die today? By the hands of a man I love? How ironic. I fought off a fever just days ago to die like this.

My eyes flew open as I leaned upwards, shoving my bladed gauntlets into his chest and shoving him off. My wounds steamed shut as I panted, swaying as I stood up.

"Lilly, you just keep healing me," I gritted my teeth as she silently agreed. I launched myself onto Azazel as I clawed and slashed my way around his massive arms, trying to get the collar. He grabbed me, slamming my body back into the ground. I wrapped my legs around his bicep, holding on as he continuously bashed my body into the gravel. I roared as I pulled to the left, throwing him onto his back.

I quickly made my way on top of him, clawing and cutting as much as I could. He kept his defensives up, protecting his neck as he spread his wings, launching us back into the air. Our bodies twisted and contorted as we punched, clawed, and stabbed each other. I had my hands almost on the collar, but he stopped me by grabbing my hair. I turned and sunk my teeth into his arm, ripping a chunk out as he released me, grabbing my ankle as I slipped. He spun in the air, flinging me back towards the ground. As I sped back downwards, my body tensed up, knowing the pain I was going to feel.

As I made my fall back down to the earth below, I caught a glimpse of the battle going on around me. My heart sank as I saw men busting through the door of the palace, Troy being forced to the ground, Victor throwing punches as he lost his sword, and Cranston repelling fire that was being cast by Marie. I slammed into the ground, pain wrecking its way through my body as I felt Azazel's bite mark burn with an intensity that I'd never felt before
