Sebastian
I trailed after Lilith. Knowing she purposefully didn't put any undergarments on made me really not want to go anywhere. But she was right, we needed to eat. Even though I wanted to eat something else. Azazel chuckled.
I darted up to her side, grabbing her hand as Kain entered from the side door from the courtyard. He flicked a glance at Lilith. Lust crossed his eyes as his gaze slowly lowered to her waist.
"Excuse me?!" I pulled her into me, shoving my tongue down her throat as she threw her hands up, grabbing me.
"What...da..." she muffled into my mouth as her eyes went over to Kain standing in the doorway. She rolled her eyes as she pushed me off.
"Sebastian!" she huffed; her face red as she adjusted her shirt. Kain stuck his pinky in his teeth, turning to the dining hall.
"I get it, I do Sebastian, but you can't fuck me in front of him to assert your dominance." She immediately stiffened up, blushing.
"Lilly disagrees with you?" I teased as she nodded, then hurriedly went to the dining hall. I let out a hearty laugh. If I didn't want him to see her succulent body, then of course I would ravish her in front of him to prove he couldn't have her.
As I entered the dining hall, I made my way to sit next to Lilith, who sat as far away from her sister and Kain as possible. I pulled the seat out, sitting next to her as George and some maids brought in breakfast.
"Be glad I'm serving you after last night's fiascos!" George huffed as he tossed a plate in front of me, but politely laid a plate in front of Lilith. She beamed at him as he tilted his head in a nod towards her.
We all started digging in. Lilith ate politely as Kain ate like he was raised by wolves. Wait. He was. I snickered at my own joke as Luna and Lilith raised a brow at me.
"You sure you... want to eat THAT, Lilith?" Luna pointed her slim finger at Lilith's piece of bacon in her hand. I felt shame wash over me as I saw Lilith's face dropped. I turned with a snarl on my lips. Before I could say anything, Kain stepped in.
"Why does it bother you?" He picked up a cup and sipped on it. Luna looked at him, baffled.
"Well... we're warriors. We have to keep an eye on our physique..."
"Bull shit. I can take on 30-plus men and still eat a horse." He tilted his head at Lilith. "Your sister has a higher kill count than me, you, or anyone I know combined." He took a bite of eggs as he continued. "If anything, you need to eat more because of how skinny you are. You literally fainted from the simplest magic spell I've seen." He snorted as Luna hid her face in embarrassment. Lilith giggled.
Luna puffed her cheeks out in anger as she barked back. "That's not true. I have the highest number of completed missions!"
"HA!" Kain flung his head back.
"Come now, let's all have a nice breakfast." Lilith said, as she nibbled on her bacon piece.
"No! I will not be humiliated and belittled! I have a good guardian! You.... you have... a WHORE!" She shouted as she stood up. Lilith froze. I was about to stand up when she placed her hand on my thigh.
"Luna... just because you were lucky and received the guardian of light doesn't mean I'm weaker." She responded gently as she rubbed my thigh to calm me down.
"Besides..." Lilith wiped her mouth. "I'm hanging it up once my contract is done with Sebastian." Luna's jaw dropped.
"You can't! Mother won't let you!" She stomped her foot. I felt warmth run through my body as Lilith stood up.
"I don't care. Sebastian proposed to me, and I plan on taking it." She smiled sweetly at me. Luna fell back into her seat.
"You can't! That'll start a war between us and the Astrians!" She sobbed. Lilith took her seat, adjusting herself.
"Well, I was hoping you'd take one for me since I have taken and done so much for you." She shot a glance at her sister. I took a bite of my food as I watched on. Kain continued eating as we both watched the train wreck going on.
"What do you mean?" Luna wiped her eyes.
"Why don't you marry Kain?" Lilith replied bluntly. Luna's jaw dropped. Kain let out a hearty laugh.
"Should be easy. You hit your heat at 15. He's unmarked. You're unmarked." Lilith shrugged as Luna's face turned to the color of Lilith's hair.
"Imagine the babies! A shifter guardian? Mother would be happy." Lilith giggled as Kain was lost in thought. What came out of Lilith's mouth next caused me and Kain to throw our bodies forward in laughter.
"Puls, you have more experience in the sack. I'm sure you'd rock his world." Lilith smiled from ear to ear at her sister as she stood up and fled the dining room.
Sighing, Lilith stood up.
"Excuse me, I need to go talk with her." She slightly bowed then left me sitting there with this insufferable mutt. He crossed his arms, glaring at me with that dumbass grin of his.
"You know, this won't be easy." He said as he leaned forward, grabbing his cup.
"What won't be easy?" I leaned back in my seat, raising a bow at him.
"Lilith's and Luna's mother..." He broke his eye contact with me, shifting his eyes to the table. "She's made sure to tarnish Lilith's reputation. She holds Luna so high on a pedestal. There's no way she's going to agree to marry me."
I shrugged. I was lucky my parents didn't force these kinds of things on me. They brought me brides to choose, yes, but they'd never force me to marry someone I didn't want to.
I reached forward, grabbed a cup, and took a sip as silence fell upon us. It was uncomfortable, to say the least. Victor walked in, his hands behind his back as his gaze fell upon me.
He looked exhausted and sported a fresh cut from the right side of his head down to his chest from the battle, making the boy look more menacingly. I liked it.
"Prince Sebastian, I'm here to give you to report from the battle." He bowed as I gestured for him to have a seat with us. He looked at me, confused.
"Come on, sit. I'm not going to ask again." I folded my arms, glaring at him. He took a sharp breath, nodded and headed to take a seat.
"We lost a majority of the guards. We only have a handful left. I'd put in a request for Sir Garrett to spare some of his troops..." He paused, glancing at Kain, then back at me. "But we haven't heard from him for a while, which is worrying me."
I chewed the inside of my lip. I was so distracted by the current events I didn't realize I hadn't heard from my mother and father either. Something's off.
"Send a crow to Estra. Tell my uncle that we haven't heard from the king, queen, or commander of the court guard." I unfolded my arms, leaning forward. Victor stood up, saluting me, and turned to do what was asked.
Lilith came rushing back into the dining room, panic written all over her face. Victor stopped, looked over her shoulder, and his face dropped.
"SEBASTIAN!!! It's... It's Sir Garrett!" she panted out as she looked back behind her. She quickly went back the way she went. Kain and I exchanged looks as I pushed myself out of my seat and dashed towards the foyer.
Upon entering, I was met with Sir Garrett. Broken, bent, and bleeding. How he managed to even get here beats me. Lilith was cradling him in her lap as Victor was trying to find the source of his bleeding. I quickly strode up to them, kneeling.
"Se… bastian." He coughed out as he winced.
"I... rode here to escape and warn you..." He sputtered as blood oozed out of his side. Lilith applied pressure, as she told Victor to run and grab Annalise.
"Your uncle- he's declared war against you and is holding your parents captive." He tried to sit up. I gritted my teeth as I started taking the man's armor off so we could get to his wounds.
"Sir Garrett, please. Rest. You can tell me what you have to say once we take care of you." I said through clenched teeth. I quickly pulled my head up, looking for Cranston.
Victor came back through the back entrance with Annalise, who had cloth and herbs. The little information he gave me sent my mind into a panic. If this was true, then the silence was on purpose, and we will be attacked soon. Not good.
Annalise started patching him up the best she could. Troy and Victor helped place him on a stretcher to move him to a room on the first floor. I stood up, ready to find Cranston. Lilith grabbed my arm.
"Sebastian, let me find Cranston." She looked up at me pleadingly. I could feel her concern for me. She reached up, clasping the bite mark on her neck.
"I know you're worried about Sir Garrett, so please go be with him. I'll go and find Cranston." She smiled up at me. I felt my heart ache as the realization of our situation hit me. Azazel grumbled. He was worried about Sir Garrett as well.
He's been with us our whole life, after all. I nodded, lifting her hand up to my mouth and kissing it. She flung her arms around me, hugging me as I buried my face into her neck. Azazel was shifting uncomfortably as emotions I hadn't felt started rolling over us.
The tides of war were coming. The waves of destruction were closing in as they threatened to swallow the existence of everything I care for.
End
I want to thank everyone who stuck with me till the end of this first book!
I have another book published under a different name that's available on KU, if you wish to support it. It's titled Olympus: The Awakening. It's a slow burn, but a good palate cleanser form all the intense scenes from this book! I will be taking a small break to whip up some chapters for Book two, titled: King of Astion, but do not fret! It won't be for long! Thank you my lovelies and hope you tune in to book 2!
