Chereads / The Only Spatial Ability User In The Apocalypse / Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Immunity

Chapter 21 - Chapter 21 Immunity

"Magic, magic!" Dudu excitedly clapped his hands once again, his eyes sparkling.

"W-what ability i-is this?" Dylan stammered, his eyes wide open.

Leo and Shaun were also shocked at the display of Sylas's space ability.

Sylas smirked and waved his hand again, making the beds reappear in the room.

"My ability is space type. I possess a spatial dimension where I can store things," Sylas explained.

"What kind of heaven-defying ability is this?" Shaun said in disbelief.

"I-I... am going to report this to the Major," Leo said, stuttering, and ran out of the room.

"Uh... is this necessary?" Sylas asked with an awkward smile.

"Of course it is," Shaun said as he paced back and forth in the room.

Dylan patted Sylas on the shoulder. "Brother, do you know the importance of your ability?"

Sylas wasn't dumb. He knew the importance of his ability, especially in this apocalypse. He could be considered a walking treasure trove.

"Doctor Farlo, how are the test results? Did you find anything?" Major Kyle asked as he strode into the laboratory.

Doctor Farlo put down the papers in his hand and turned to Major Kyle. "There are some results, but due to the lack of equipment, we can't find out much. If we want to know more, we need a proper laboratory and equipment," Doctor Farlo sighed as he removed his glasses.

Major Kyle nodded in understanding. After all, this place was just a makeshift laboratory. Doctor Farlo's presence here was also a coincidence—he was a renowned scientist in the country who happened to be in Pinewood Town when the apocalypse broke out.

"Can you tell me what you managed to find?" Major Kyle asked, taking a seat beside Doctor Farlo.

"The blood of people with abilities is different from normal humans. But why and what makes it different, we don't know yet. Further research is needed. Those who awaken abilities seem to have undergone an upgrade—their bodies are much stronger than normal humans. However, they are not immune to the zombie virus," Doctor Farlo explained.

Major Kyle nodded. "And what about that woman in the isolation ward? If those who awakened abilities are not immune to the zombie virus, then what about her? Why is she the exception?"

Doctor Farlo frowned and replied, "This is something I don't understand either. The blood of those who awakened abilities and that woman's blood are completely different. She doesn't seem to have awakened any abilities."

"Her immunity to the zombie virus could be a breakthrough in developing a vaccine. No matter what, we must ensure her safety," Major Kyle said firmly.

Doctor Farlo understood this better than anyone. "We need to leave this town if we want to study this further. I need to return to the capital to research the abilities and that woman's immunity against the virus."

"Major!"

Just then, Leo stumbled into the laboratory, panting heavily. He had been running around searching for Major Kyle.

Major Kyle frowned. "What happened?"

"Major, Doctor Farlo, I'm sorry to interrupt, but Sylas just woke up and his—his... ability is space type," Leo stuttered as he caught his breath.

"Space? What do you mean by that?" Major Kyle asked, confused.

"He can store things in his space. He has a spatial dimension," Leo blurted out in one breath, still shocked by what he had seen earlier.

"What!"

Both Doctor Farlo and Major Kyle immediately stood up and rushed out.

Back in the special ward, Sylas was playing with Dudu.

"Magic, magic!" Dudu excitedly jumped on the bed as Sylas stored the pillow in his space, making it disappear and reappear after a few seconds.

Dylan looked at Sylas in amazement. "Brother, don't forget to store some food and water in your space later. I'm telling you, I'm sticking with you from now on so I won't have to worry about food and water," Dylan said.

"Me too," Shaun said, clenching his fist.

"Don't worry, I know what to do," Sylas chuckled.

Just then, they heard the sound of rushing footsteps outside, and soon Major Kyle, Doctor Farlo, and Leo burst into the room.

Doctor Farlo rushed toward Sylas at lightning speed. "I heard you possess a space. Can you demonstrate it and tell me about it?" Doctor Farlo asked, looking at Sylas intently.

Major Kyle was also staring at Sylas with anticipation.

Sylas nodded and casually demonstrated his space ability by storing and retrieving items in the room. He also explained the size and the sense of the space inside him.

Doctor Farlo and Major Kyle were equally stunned and amazed at Sylas's spatial ability.

"Interesting... interesting... this ability... fascinating..." Doctor Farlo mumbled, looking at Sylas.

Major Kyle, on the other hand, looked at Sylas with sparkling eyes. "With Sylas, we don't have to worry about transporting supplies back to the safe zone. As long as Sylas reaches the safe zone safely, the supplies will too," Major Kyle said excitedly.

Sylas gave an awkward smile. He never would have thought that one day he'd be regarded as a transport truck.

As they marveled at Sylas, a stretcher was pushed into the room by nurses, carrying an unconscious person.

Everyone turned their attention to the door.

"Doctor Farlo, this is another special case," one of the nurses said upon spotting him.

"What? Another ability user?" Major Kyle asked.

Doctor Farlo rushed to examine the unconscious person.

"Serena!" Sylas exclaimed upon seeing her.

"Is she awakening an ability too?" Dylan asked excitedly.

"You know her?" Shaun asked.

"Yes, we met on our way to the safe zone. I'll tell you, this girl is quite courageous—very unlike other girls. I'm not surprised she's awakening an ability too," Dylan said, looking at Serena.

Sylas nodded in agreement.

Doctor Farlo examined Serena and said, "Just let her sleep. When she wakes up in two to three hours, inform me."

The nurses carefully removed Serena's shoes and tucked her under the blanket.

"Two to three hours?" Sylas asked in confusion.

Dylan nodded. "As far as we know, it takes two to three hours to awaken abilities. It took me a little over two hours, three hours for Leo, and for Dudu, about two and a half hours."

"Then why did I sleep for fifteen hours?" Sylas asked, confused.

"Well, last night, after we reached the safe zone, all three of you were put to sleep here in the special ward. But Leo and Dudu woke up shortly after. Only you slept like a dead log. Doctor Farlo said it was probably because you were too exhausted," Dylan explained.

"That makes sense," Sylas nodded. He knew how drained he was the day before, constantly on edge and running for his life.

"Wait! Everyone, we forgot to ask about Dudu's ability!" Shaun shouted, drawing everyone's attention.
