Chapter 24 - Chapter 24 Training

"Yes, Major," Dylan responded and headed toward the car.

Dylan immediately picked up the military vehicle and started lifting it up and down. His muscles bulged as he stood tall, hoisting the vehicle repeatedly.

Major Kyle then turned to Sylas and said, "Sylas, do you see the pile of wood out there? Go and chop it up for firewood using your spatial blade."

"Yes, Major." Sylas stepped outside, followed by two soldiers responsible for keeping track of time and observing his performance.

"As for Leo, since your ability is healing, you will tend to the injured soldiers. Those soldiers won't leak any information regarding ability users, so you don't have to worry. These two soldiers will escort you," Major Kyle instructed Leo.

"Yes, Major," Leo responded and immediately left with the two soldiers. Everyone was accompanied by two soldiers to observe them and track their progress.

After assigning tasks, Major Kyle finally turned his attention to Dudu, who was running in and out of the hall, his arms full of bright sunflowers and laughter on his face. The sunflowers were grown by Serena using her abilities.

"Wow, Superman!" Dudu giggled as he ran past Dylan, who was drenched in sweat, lifting the military vehicle up and down.

Then, he dashed toward Sylas, but a soldier quickly stopped him, afraid he might get too close and be injured by the spatial blades.

"Brother, brother! My brother is amazing!" Dudu obediently stopped, jumping up and down as he watched Sylas from a distance with sparkling eyes.

Major Kyle sighed, looking at Dudu. He had a headache. The boy was too young to understand the complexities of abilities, making training difficult.

"Just let him be," Doctor Farlo said, patting Kyle's shoulder.

"I'm just afraid he'll accidentally hurt someone someday," Major Kyle admitted.

"Let him get used to this environment first. We'll gradually help him adapt and communicate with him to train his abilities," Doctor Farlo reassured him, his eyes crinkling in amusement as he watched the lively boy.

"Well, I suppose it's not bad having him here. He livens up this stiff and serious environment," Major Kyle added with a smile.

After half an hour, Dylan put down the military vehicle and immediately collapsed onto the ground, panting.

"I'm out of energy," Dylan gasped.

"32 minutes, 972 repetitions," one of the soldiers reported to Major Kyle.

Major Kyle nodded approvingly. "Not bad."

At the same time, another soldier arrived to report on Leo. "Major, Leo healed 32 minor injuries and six severely injured patients. His energy consumption depends on the severity of the injuries or illnesses, so we can't yet determine the exact limits of his ability. Since he's exhausted, we let him rest there instead of bringing him back."

Major Kyle understood and replied, "Alright. Keep an eye on him and bring him back once he recovers his energy."

"Yes, Major," the soldier responded and left.

Major Kyle then shifted his gaze toward Sylas, who was still chopping wood with his spatial blades.

Space seemed to warp at his fingertips as he sent out waves of spatial blades, slicing through the wood effortlessly. It had been over half an hour, and Sylas was starting to tire. His fingertips tingled from overuse.

"He seems to have the longest endurance," Doctor Farlo observed as he watched Sylas.

After nearly an hour, Sylas finally lowered his arms and sat down, panting. In front of him was a small mountain of chopped firewood.

"53 minutes, 556 pieces of wood," a soldier reported to Major Kyle.

"Impressive. Longest duration so far," Major Kyle said, nodding excitedly.

Just then, another soldier arrived with an update on Serena. "Major, Doctor Farlo, Miss Bale has recovered her energy."

"58 minutes," the soldier reported Serena's recovery time.

"Miss Bale, how do you feel now?" Doctor Farlo asked Serena.

"I'm fine," Serena replied, casting a quick glance at Sylas and the pile of firewood in front of him.

Dudu ran toward Sylas and hugged his neck.

"Now, let's try using plants for attack. Here are vine-type plant seeds. We couldn't find other vine plants due to our circumstances, so we'll make do with these. Try growing the vine and controlling it with your ability—bend it, stretch it, strangle a target, etc.," Major Kyle instructed, handing a few vine seeds to Serena.

A soldier immediately placed a training dummy in front of her.

Serena understood their intention and was eager to test it out. If her abilities could be used in combat, they would be invaluable. She threw out a seed, and a green vine immediately sprouted, shooting upward. Concentrating, she controlled its growth, guiding it toward the dummy. Though clumsy at first, she adjusted the vine's speed and maneuvered it until it twisted and wrapped around the dummy.

"Good job, Miss Bale. With practice, you'll soon be able to control it smoothly. Keep training until your energy is depleted again," Major Kyle praised.

Training continued, and just as Serena exhausted her strength, Dylan and Sylas had already recovered their energy.

"39 minutes? So fast?" Major Kyle and Doctor Farlo exchanged surprised glances. Sylas had recovered far quicker than Dylan and Serena, who had taken almost an hour.

At the same time, Leo returned with the two soldiers.

"1 hour, 3 minutes," the soldier reported Leo's recovery time.

Doctor Farlo took note of the findings. "It takes about half an hour to deplete your energy if used continuously and nearly an hour for recovery. Except for Sylas—he took around an hour to exhaust himself but only half an hour to recover. This confirms that the duration varies between individuals."

Everyone turned to Sylas in surprise. The intensity of their stares making him uncomfortable.

"From this morning's training, we've learned that your abilities need refinement to be effective in combat," Major Kyle explained. "For example, Serena, you must practice controlling your plants until you can use them instinctively in a fight. And Sylas, although you managed to chop the wood, the shapes and sizes are inconsistent. You need to train for precision..." Major Kyle explained to them, outlining their areas for improvement
