Chapter 1 - chapter 1: New World

"Asna Ivaline Hunch," I heard my name called, the sound grating on my ears. I looked towards the man standing in the distance, Prince Levi, with Yna beside him. Today was the day I was to be k*lled for attempting to assassinate Yna. Rage and resentment burned within me. I'd thought Prince Levi loved me, mistaking his kindness for something more, but I'd become obsessed—

"Ugh, this is a story!! What kind of nonsense is this book, Sally? I asked for the new 'Zombie in the City' update, not this!" I yelled at Sally, back in our dorm.

"Come on, finish reading before you judge, you're too old for this!" She retorted, even though my money paid for this ridiculous book.

"You know I don't like this genre, right?" This girl! I wanted to kick her back to Mars.

"It's good... Yna and Levi's love story is so complicated because of this idi*ot Asna! She's such a nuisance," she said while angrily brushing her teeth.

"I don't care... You're more of an id*iot! Why did you buy this? I hate it." I threw the book at her.

We left the dorm together, and I got my revenge. I hid her ID, forcing the guards to make her run around the field for 10 minutes and clean the gym.

Sally still insisted I read the story, claiming I'd love it, even though only she seemed to. I'd rather read sports manga than this genre; I just don't like it.

"Just read it already." So, I did, skipping pages because I was too lazy to finish it.

Classes were over, it was the weekend, and Sally went home, but I forgot to give her back her books because we were supposed to review.

I took a taxi to her place. During the ride, I felt a bad premonition, a dark vision. I don't know, but I always get this feeling before something bad happens—

I stopped short as my head hit something hard, a dizzying sensation washing over me, accompanied by the sound of an explosion.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a strange room! Wait, I was in a taxi, and we had an accident—

"Princess Asna, you're awake." My heart sank at the woman's words. Princess Asna? Was she talking to me? Who is this Princess Asna?

"You need to get dressed; the Duke is waiting for you in his chambers." She left, and three women entered, leading me to a bathtub. What in the world is going on?!

They took me to an enormous room, and from my observations, it was old-fashioned—

A sharp slap landed on my face from an older man; the world seemed to spin. I touched my cheek, noticing their hateful stares, as if I were some repulsive creature.

"HOW DARE YOU TO MOCK THIS FAMILY FROM THE EMPIRE!!!" He roared. In my entire life, my father or mother never slapped me, even though I'm a failure of a child.

I was confused. Why was I called Asna? My name is Mellic! I was shocked when I saw my reflection in the mirror. At first, I wanted to lash out, but I calmed myself, especially in this situation.

"I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't know you. So, if this body has problems, it's not my problem—" I collapsed after another harsh slap from this old man, who was going too far!

"From now on, I will send you to Segma so that you realize what you have done to this family. I don't have a daughter like you and I will never acknowledge you as my daughter, Asna!" He screamed.

They left me alone in the room, and tears welled up in my eyes, but I didn't feel any physical pain.

All of Asna's belongings were removed from her room, and I noticed that the maids in the palace seemed to treat her poorly. They whispered about Princess Asna almost openly.

I saw old man glaring at me. I simply got into the carriage, having no idea where it was going, but it was better to be far away from that place. I didn't expect the journey to Segma to take three days. I looked at the old mansion, and it wasn't bad.

The surroundings were covered in snow, and it was extremely cold. I went inside, and I could still feel the chill in every corner of the mansion.

"Princess Asna, this is your room," a maid said, her eyes filled with disdain, as if I were a pest in her sight. She handed me the key, and I took it. If they could do this to Asna, I would show them how to treat someone worse than an animal. I deliberately dropped the key in front of her.

"I think I dropped it... Could you pick it up?" I smirked when I saw her annoyed expression after I ordered her. She bent down, and I stepped on the key with my foot.
