Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 The Truth

In the living room of Maria Rambo's house, little Monica watched in awe as Carol effortlessly boiled water with her superhuman abilities. Her eyes widened in surprise. Children, with their rich imaginations, are often more open to accepting the impossible.

"Wow, that's so cool! Is there anything else you can do?" she exclaimed, looking at Thor expectantly.

Thor smiled, "You'll see even cooler things soon. But right now, you have plenty of things to show Aunt Carol."

Monica led Carol into the room, and Thor sank into the sofa leisurely. He caught Nick Fury staring at him, raising an eyebrow.

"Why are you looking at me like that? " Thor said, amusingly

Nick Fury was deep in thought. "Why do I get the feeling that you know a lot more than you're letting on? You weren't even surprised by Carol... or should I say, Carol Danvers. It's like you knew everything already."

Thor grinned, recognizing Fury's sharp mind. "From the very beginning, you pegged her as a Kree. You believed everything she told you and subconsciously accepted the ideas the Kree instilled in her. But not me. As far as I'm concerned, neither the Kree nor the Skrulls are peace-loving races."

Fury looked skeptical, so Thor continued, "Also, my mother is the greatest witch in all of Asgard."

Just as Thor finished speaking, he suddenly hurled Mjolnir, narrowly missing Talos' head behind the door.

"After eavesdropping for so long, why don't you come out and join us?" Thor called out.

Talos stepped out, looking surprised, empty-handed, except for the only cup of milk tea in the refrigerator, now in Thor's possession.

Carol, hearing the movement, rushed out and stared at Talos. Her hands began to glow with energy, ready for a confrontation.

"Oh, no, no, no, we're not enemies," Talos quickly interjected, raising his hands in surrender. "There's been a lot of misunderstandings between us. I think it's time we had a proper conversation..."

"The last time we 'talked,' I don't think it was a misunderstanding to hang me upside down," Carol retorted coldly.

Talos backed off quickly. "I didn't know about your past as an agent... I didn't know how different you were from the others."

Before he could say more—

"Meow!!!"

"Oh my god! How can you have such a dangerous creature here? Where is it? Get it away from me!" Talos' green face turned even greener. Thor immediately picked up the cat, ready to protect it from Talos' panicked reaction.

Nick Fury couldn't contain his laughter. "Dangerous? You think this cat is dangerous?" he said, laughing out loud. "This guy, pretending to be the boss, is actually scared of a cat."

Talos shuddered as he saw Cat tail being held in Thor's hand. He quickly changed the subject, "I have a black box from the plane crash years ago. You can listen to it."

The voice from the stereo filled the room, slowly revealing the truth of that day. As the audio played, Carol's memory began to resurface. When it ended, she rushed out of the door, overwhelmed. The truth she had been deceived and used for all these years was too much for her to accept.

Maria Rambo, noticing Carol's distress, hurried after her. "You're Carol Danvers, the one who always did the right thing, even when it meant risking your life. You were my best friend, the one who supported me when no one else did. You became a mother, became a fighter..."

Carol's expression softened, but her heart was still heavy with the weight of the truth.

Thor, standing nearby, spoke in a calm, steady voice. "The real purpose of the Pegasus Project was never to wage war. It was to end it. Though you've been deceived for six years, there is still room for redemption. The Kree, the Skrulls, and the Supreme Intelligence—they will all face a reckoning."

Carol's mind began to clear. She took a deep breath, a sense of resolve building within her. She knew what she had to do. Dr. Lawson's mission had been unfinished, but she would complete it now: helping the Skrulls find a new home, a safe place where the Kree couldn't reach them.
