Chapter 4: Unleash the Hound

The next morning came far too quickly for everyone, especially Ruby. To say she had butterflies in her stomach about today was an understatement. As they walked towards the communal bathrooms, Yang was not helping that in the slightest.
"So how was yesterday little sis? Eventful?" Yang asked.
"Y-yah… I would say so." Ruby said with a bit of a blush.
"Would you mind going into more detail? I love hearing about what new and interesting adventures my baby sister gets into." Yang said with a cheeky smile.
"Well, I unfortunately bumped into a few people… Literally." Ruby sheepishly admitted.
"No one was hurt I hope?" Yang asked.
"Not really. The first one was a guy by the name of Azura Sōtora …" Ruby said, a deep blush enveloping over her face.
"Oh? Did my cute little baby sister meet a guy she likes?" Yang asked, pulling her sister close with her arm.
"No… Maybe… He was nice and helpful at least…" Ruby gulped, looking away from her sister.
"I need to look into that one. Anyone else?" Yang asked.
"Well, I then ran into a girl that didn't take well to me bumping into her… She was kinda mean…" Ruby said with a sigh.
"You'll get that. Let me guess, third time the charm? Did you complete the anime opening?" Yang asked, kinda seeing where these events are going.
"What?" Ruby asked, confused.
"You'll understand when you're older." Yang said with a chuckle.
"Knowing you I doubt that…" Ruby said, before out of the corner of her eye she saw a familiar sight.
Little Trivia was minding her own business, innocently sipping a juice box, and eating some Grimm Crackers™. Then her world was turned upside down as Ruby rushed over in a blink of an eye, grabbed her, and carried her over to Yang. What was in front of Yang was her sister holding a smaller girl in her arms and looking up at her like a dog presenting a stick to its owner.
"Yang, I'd like you to meet my first friend, Trivia Vanille!" Ruby said proudly with a big smile.
Annoyed, Trivia typed, 'Put me down, hooman!'
"Ruby, put her down. She isn't a chew toy." Yang said dryly.
Trivia rolls her eyes, typing, 'Interesting choice of words…'
Trivia was cut off as Yang grabbed her by the collar and pulled her up to eye level before asking, "HOW do you know?"
Confused, Trivia asked, 'Know what?! I was just implying she acted like an overly excited puppy! You're honestly making me have MORE suspicion.'
"Fair enough. Sorry. I'm protective of her. As you can tell she can get herself into trouble. As apparently how you met would suggest." Yang said with a sigh before letting Trivia down.
Confused, Trivia typed, 'The way you're acting, I'd almost suspect ruby was a beastman… nah! That couldn't possibly be the case, right?' Trivia innocently beams at Yang.
If looks could kill, Yang would be dead and reincarnated into a sea slug by now. Yang had to put every ounce of her being to only be sweating bullets and trembling. By a sheer guess, she got it right. She would have died in that moment if Trivia didn't do what happened next.
At that moment, Trivia types, 'Wanna go shoplifting after initiation? It's one of my favorite hobbies!'
"Isn't that illegal?" Ruby asked as Yang breathed a big sigh.
Confused, Trivia types honestly, 'It is!? Since when!? Why was I never informed of this!? Wait, Am I a criminal!?'
"Well, those are criminal acts. So…" Yang trailed off as she looked over the petite, multi-colored girl.
Pouting, Trivia types, 'Soooo, no shoplifting? How about hot wiring some cars and going for a joyride?'
"That is even more illegal." Yang corrected.
Trivia puffed out her cheeks, typing, 'Everything's illegal! Next thing you're gonna tell me that beating up a security guard is illegal!'
"You sound like you're speaking from experience on that criminal act. Care to go into detail?" Yang asked, raising an eyebrow.
Innocently, Trivia types, 'But I don't wanna talk about what Trivia did…'
"And why don't you want to talk about what Trivia did?" Yang asked, stepping closer.
Nervously, Trivia typed, 'No reason…'
"If you insist." Yang said with a smile and gently patting her head, seemingly dropping the subject.
Trivia, trying to change the subject, typed, 'Anyway… on a less illegal note… you wanna rob a bank with me?'
"Less illegal?" Ruby asked.
Annoyed, Trivia typed, 'Don't tell me that's illegal too! All the fun stuff is banned!'
"Where did you run into her Ruby?" Yang asked.
"On the main strip at Beacon. Why?" Ruby asked.
"Don't know what I expected for an answer. Forget I ever said it." Yang answered, "Let's get to the showers, Ruby. Don't want you missing breakfast. I've seen you without food."
Trivia grabbed Ruby's hand, typing, 'Can I follow you? I don't know where anything is, still haven't found the ball room we were supposed to spend last night in, been wandering the halls all night.'
"Sure. Come on, Triv." Ruby said with a nod, before practically dragging the multi-colored girl behind.
"Oh, so now you're giving her a nickname. Next thing you know, you're going to be attached to her." Yang groaned.
"Well, she is my friend. And we are holding hands, so that is kinda being attached." Ruby answered as she continued to drag the girl along.
Trivia blushed very noticeably at the hand holding comment.
"Well, well Ruby. You already got the girls crushing on you. I knew you were a real killer." Yang smirked with a chuckled.
Ruby cocks her head in confusion while she dragged Trivia along. Trivia blushed even harder, feebly typing, 'Shut up… I mean, she is cute, and my whole world feels brighter when she's around, but it's not like I have a crush or anything… baka…'
"If you're gonna pull out that line, at least put a ring on it first." Yang countered as they continued to the showers.
Trivia looked a bit flustered before typing, 'you really think she'd have me?' A genuine look of hope in her eyes.
"Anything is possible." Yang muttered as awkwardness set in.
It did not have time to settle for too long, thankfully for a very confused Ruby, commotion was happening outside of the bathrooms. What the three girls saw was a girl not much taller than Trivia with blue eyes and platinum blonde hair, being cornered against a wall by a much larger boy with brown hair and blue eyes. Trivia felt Ruby's grip on her hand tighten.
Mentally, Trivia went, 'ow, ow, ow, ow, ow'
"Relax, girl. Stick with me and things will get good for you." The taller boy said, half trying to be pickup artist and half being a jackass.
"I-I'm not interested…" The girl said timidly, but the boy would not budge.
Finally, Ruby let go of Trivia's hand and marched up to him, not in a pleased mood about what she was seeing. This shocked Trivia at how quickly Ruby's mood changed. To Yang however, this was business as usual.
"Sit back, Trivia. This is gonna get ugly for that guy." Yang explained.
Confused, Trivia asked, 'Why? Is she like a beastman or something?'
"No…" Yang somewhat nervously answered.
Trivia giggles and innocently typed, 'Ok!'
Ruby then stepped up to the larger boy, then forcibly grabbed his are and made him look at her. Confused, he looked back and forth, before looking down to see little Ruby looking up at him, greatly displeased.
"Well, well. If it isn't my lucky day. All the cute girls practically flocked to old Cardin." He chuckled, pleased with himself.
"She doesn't like you. Go away." Ruby said sternly.
"Oh? And what are you gonna do about it, Little Red?" Cardin asked mockingly.
Trivia stepped in, excitedly typing, 'Can I help!?'
"I got it." Ruby answered.
Trivia giggled, typing, 'ok!'
"Your friends 'special' isn't she?" Cardin asked mockingly.
"No one calls her that but me." Ruby growled.
With a swift motion, ruby grabbed Cardin's stomach. Before he can react, Ruby one handed deadlifted Cardin into the air. She then threw him ten feet away onto his back. Cardin lay there more in shock than pain. However, when Ruby took a step closer towards him, he took his leave and made a break for it.
"AND STAY OUT!" Ruby yelled at the fleeing Cardin.
Cocking her head innocently, Trivia turned to Yang and typed, 'Are you certain Ruby isn't a beastman?'
"No…" Yang answered nervously.
Trivia giggled and innocently typed, 'Ok then, sorry for bugging you!'
"Are you okay, miss?" Ruby asked the shy girl.
"Y-yes. Thank you, miss…" The girl tried to answer.
"Ruby Rose. And you are?" Ruby said, putting her hand out to shake.
"Ember Hedda." She nervously answered, shaking her hand slowly.
Trivia crossed her arms and pouted; the jealousy obvious.
"Are you jealous?" Yang asked.
Trivia nodded, typing, 'She is my friend! I found her first!'
"You can have more than one friend. I have plenty." Yang explained simply as Ruby and Ember slowly strike up a conversation in the distance. The two shy girls starting to bond.
Trivia pouted, typing, 'No you can't! I've never had a friend before, so I know!'
Yang then grabbed Trivia and pulled her into a side hug, before mournfully saying, "I'm sorry you've had to live your life like that."
Confused, Trivia typed, 'Wait... Being locked in my room my whole life while constantly being ignored and belittled isn't normal?'
"No, Trivia. It isn't. Let's get into the showers so we can go get food. And we can get ice cream after." Yang said, ushering the poor girl towards the showers.
Trivia immediately perks up, typing, 'ok!'
"You know, you can join us, Ember. More the merrier I always say." Ruby said, noticing Yang moving to the showers.
"R-really? I wouldn't want to impose…" Ember said nervously.
"Not at all. I'll keep any more bullies away from you. Birds of a feather flock together." Ruby said with a nervous smile, and the two joined Yang and Trivia.
Trivia giggled silently to herself, mouth agape, literally drilling at the thought of being in the shower with her crush. Damned hormones… Yang, noticing this, decided to definitely keep an eye on the multi-colored girl as a precaution, and keep herself between the drooling ice cream girl and her baby sister. After the shower happened uneventfully, the four got dressed and swiftly made their way to the cafeteria. Ember and Trivia being dragged along like so much luggage by a hungry Ruby.
Trivia giggles, enjoying every moment of Ruby's attention. Ember, however, not being used to this much attention, is having a harder time with it, being clearly nervous. Yang keeps a close eye on Trivia, as her looks are getting a hint sus for her tastes. However, Ember and Trivia had a rude awakening when Ruby stops dead in her tracks, causing the two to run into the red caped reaper. The two girls staggered back like they walked into a brick wall.
Rubbing her head, Trivia typed, 'She's built like a brick wall, you sure she isn't a beastman?'
"No, she is not." Yang said, trying to appear confident and failing.
Trivia rubs her head, typing, 'If you say so…'
The three girls look up and see why Ruby stopped. In front of her was Azura, who was sitting at a lunch table with a much taller, more muscular, and dark-skinned boy. On Ruby's face, her lips are quivering, and she has a blush as red as her cape at the sight of the blue haired boy.
Jealousy building, Trivia stomped over to Azura, and angrily typed, 'That's my crush! Stay away! She's mine!'
"I am sorry, but who are you? And what are you talking about?" Azura asked, confused.
Without answering, Trivia angrily stomped away. This forced Ruby to rush over and try and smooth things over with the samurai.
Trivia, seeing this, started to cry softly, typing, 'But I wanted to date you, Rubes! I never had a chance!'
"It's okay Trivia. It's okay. Let it all out." Yang sighed as she pulled Trivia into a hug to try and help her through this.
Trivia hugged Yang tightly, sobbing. As this is going on, Ruby nervously walks up to Azura, causing the samurai to smile slightly at her.
"Morning, Ruby. Nice to see you this morning." Azura said with a smile.
"H-Hi Azura. How are you doing?" Ruby asked nervously, trying to keep her composure.
"I'm well. Had a good night's sleep and am pleasantly surprised with the quality of food here." Azura answered politely.
"That's good… Who's your friend here?" Ruby asked.
"This is Zhan Vulkan. Ran into him yesterday. Literally. Guess we both have a knack for running into people." Azura said with a smile.
"Y-yeah… Right… Well, I'm going to go get some food. M-mind i-if m-my and m-my friends join you?" Ruby asked.
"Of course." Azura answered with a nod.
With that Ruby rushed off to go get food, and also away from Azura long enough to not die of a heart attack. Yang lead Trivia and Ember over to the line. Mercifully, the line was short, and they were able to fill their trays heartily. In the back of their heads, they knew what was coming up that they would need the energy for. And it might be the last meal they ever get on this mortal plane.
