Chapter 4 - The Ardens

The Arden's were a wealthy family of three.

Mr. Arden is a government worker, while his wife stays at home to take care of the whole family.

Their house was only a few meters away so Kael arrived in front of their gate after a few breaths.

Their house was not overly big, but it could be considered enormous in terms of Kael's standard.

Just as he was about to ring the doorbell, the door of the house suddenly snapped open.

At the same time, a beautiful woman in her late thirties appeared in his view.

"Good evening, Mrs. Arden," Kael greeted the woman with a smile.

"Good evening too, Kael," the woman, Mrs. Arden, smiled back and turned her head inside the house.

"Vivi, Kael's here!"

Immediately a commotion resounded from within their house, and a moment later, a teenage girl in a messy bun came into Kael's view.

She was wearing a tight white tank top and a black tapered short, showcasing her toned long legs.

Like her mother, she is a beautiful woman and has fair skin.

"El, you did not wait for me again!" Vivian grumbled upon seeing Kael.

Kael scratched his cheek lightly with a wry smile, "Well, it's Friday and I need to be at the dumping site as early as possible so I hurried home."

Vivian comes to the same school as him. They were not classmates, but their classrooms were not far from each other. Most of the time, the two of them walk home together.

"Hmmp! No fair! I told you I'll come along with you the next time you go scavenging!"

'That's exactly the reason why I hurried home without you.' Kael complained inwardly.

This was not the first time that Vivian requested coming along. However, Kael would always find all sorts of reasons to let her stay home. Unlike him, she came from a well-off family and does not have to go scavenging.

Scavenging was also dangerous and they were not merely playing there.

She would only become a burden if he brings her along.

The Ardens were very very good to them and treated them fairly. He could not just grab their daughter and put her in harm's way by bringing her along, right?

Even Kael's parents also objected to the idea.

Although Vivian's parent's did not openly object to her requests, how could Kael and his parents not tell that they were also worried about her going to such a dangerous and dirty site?

"Next time. I'll definitely bring you along next time," Kael stated halfheartedly.

"Hmmp! That's the seventh time you said that. I'll definitely come along next time, whether you like it or not," Vivian declared.

Regarding that, Kael could only smile and look at Mrs. Arden, asking for help.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Arden merely chuckled before saying, "Right, Kael, why are you here? Come inside first and have some snacks. Bring some for your parents and for little Mila too."

Kael nodded his head and did not decline her offer. This was not the first time that this happened, and if he declined, it would only upset Mrs. Arden.

Upon entering, Kael immediately narrated his purpose in coming here.

"Sure. That's not a problem. As for the internet, ask Vivi about it. Only she knows how to connect with it. Vivi, can you help Kael with his Neuro Dive?"

Vivian nodded her head. She then took the Neuro Dive from his hand and began connecting it to their internet.

"Wow, El. You found something good this time. This Neuro Dive is definitely working properly. Virtual Dive Gears does not get destroyed easily so finding one is literally a jackpot. This must have come from a rich person, else, they would not have thrown such a perfectly working Neuro Dive," Vivian stated as she inspected the Neuro Dive.

Kael nodded his head in affirmation, finding his luck extraordinarily good this time as well.

"Maybe because they already got the new model?"

Vivian nodded her head, "Possibly. I planned to get the latest one as well, but it's hella expensive. My dad won't be able to afford it, I need to save up for some time before I can afford it myself, sigh."

"Right, since you now have a working Virtual Dive Gear, what kind of games do you have in mind that you want to play?"

Hearing that, Kael shook his head.

"I don't know. I only checked if it's working, as it could definitely fetch a good price in the market if it is working properly."

"What? You plan to sell it?" Vivian stared at him in disbelief.

Kael nodded his head. Although he was pretty excited upon obtaining it, he knew that the most practical approach was to sell it. He could not waste his time using it after all.

Although it would be good and he might be able to enjoy it, he would surely grow bored with it after some time.

For him, scavenging and obtaining good items in the dumping site was still more enjoyable.

"When do you plan to sell it?" She asked.

Kael shrugged his shoulders, "As soon as possible. We need the money. But for something like this, selling it in haste will only lower its value, especially since a lot of rich people will sell their old models and buy the new ones from now on. Maybe waiting for a week or two is ideal?"

Hearing that, Vivian's eyes lit up. "Yes. You should definitely wait for a week or two before selling it, else, the price will be less due to a lot of supply."

After thinking for a moment, Vivian suddenly stated, "Actually, you don't have to be in a rush to sell. If it's urgent, I can lend you some money. In exchange, play some virtual reality games with me. You haven't tried gaming online before, right? It's definitely hella fun!"

Hearing that, Kael could only shake his head.

"I would love to, but you know I don't have the luxury of time to play games. Instead of playing, I can just spend my time in the dumping site. Who knows if I get lucky again and obtain another valuable trash like this one?"

Kael looked at the Virtual Dive Gear as if it was the greatest treasure in the world.

He was pretty proud of obtaining it, and although he would part with it soon enough, as a scavenger, obtaining such a goodie was still something to brag about for the days to come.

Vivian sighed upon seeing that his decision was already set.

In fact, this was not the first time she had tried to convince him to play an online game with her.

Unfortunately, Kael would always decline and reason that he should just be in the dumping site instead, saying that it was more fun and thrilling there.

This was also part of the reason why she developed some sort of interest in coming along with him to scavenge.

Could scavenging truly be as enjoyable as playing virtual reality games?

She tried scavenging inside the games she played before, but she found it very boring and monotonous.

She was about to give up persuading him this time around as well when she recalled a new trend in the online game community.

"Wait, have I already told you before that you could earn real money while playing virtual reality games?"
