Chapter 24 - The Calm Before the Storm

The sky over Beijing looked bright, with white clouds drifting slowly. Although the atmosphere seemed peaceful, Yang Chen never truly let his guard down. The championship tournament held at the main stadium in Beijing has attracted the attention of thousands of coaches and spectators, but behind the excitement, he knows the threat from Team Galaxy could emerge at any moment.

Sitting in the family room chair, Yang Chen closed his eyes for a moment, using his super hearing ability to scan every corner of the city. The roar of vehicles, the chatter of spectators, and the sound of Pokémon footsteps were audible to him. However, nothing seemed suspicious—at least for now.

Next to him, Reba sat enjoying a warm cup of tea. Her gaze was gentle as she looked at her husband, who appeared tense despite his face trying to hide his anxiety. She gently held Yang Chen's hand.

"Chen," she said in a soothing voice, "I know you're worried." But for today, everything is going smoothly. Maybe nothing will happen.

Yang Chen opened his eyes and smiled slightly. "I hope so," he replied. "But I still have to be on guard. The presence of Genesect or other legendary pokemon amidst the rumors they are spreading about this tournament is too suspicious."

Reba nodded, fully understanding. "But don't forget to enjoy this moment with us. Xiaoyi is looking forward to spending time with her father today."

Seeing his wife's smile, Yang Chen relaxed a bit of the tension in his shoulders. He nodded, promising himself to at least give his full attention to his family that day.

That night, their family sat in the dining room, enjoying Reba's simple yet delicious homemade meal. Xiaoyi chattered cheerfully about the match she had watched that day, while several of their family's Pokémon lounged near the table.

Charizard X curled its tail, the flames at the tip flickering gently. Dragonite leaned its body against the wall, its eyes closing relaxedly. Gengar, although not visible in the room, remained connected to Yang Chen through a mental bond. He was far away at the Pokémon Alliance China headquarters, using his Shadow Sneak ability to monitor the entire area.

"Chen," Reba suddenly said, snapping Yang Chen out of his thoughts. "Are you still on guard? Are you still on guard?" Yang Chen smiled faintly. "I'm just making sure everything stays safe. With Gengar in Beijing, we at least have extra protection."

Yang Chen smiled faintly. "I'm just making sure everything stays safe. With Gengar in Beijing, we at least have some extra protection."

Xiaoyi looked at her father with curiosity. "Dad, can Gengar keep an eye on everything?""

"Gengar is special," replied Yang Chen while ruffling his daughter's hair. "He knows what to do. As long as Gengar is there, we can be a little more at ease."

At the Pokémon Alliance headquarters in Beijing, the atmosphere was much more serious. Gengar hovers in the shadows, utilizing every dark corner to monitor movements around the main stadium. His ability to sneak and disguise himself makes him almost impossible to detect, even by the most advanced technology.

In one corner of the stadium, Yang Xiaolin, the leader of the Pokémon Alliance of China and the chief supervisor of the tournament, felt relieved to know that Gengar was on their side. "At least with Gengar here, we have an advantage if something happens," he murmured while checking the latest security report.

However, even with Gengar there, Xiaolin knew that the threat from Team Galaxy was not something to be taken lightly. He tightened security and ensured all emergency protocols were ready to be implemented.

Back home, Yang Chen sat on the porch after dinner. He gazed at the starry night sky, his mind drifting.

"Maybe this is just the calm before the storm," he murmured to himself.

Inside the house, Xiaoyi had already fallen asleep in Reba's lap. Seeing that scene, Yang Chen felt his heart a little more at ease. Anyway, he would do everything to protect his family, no matter what happened.

However, deep in his mind, he knew that the threat would not stop. This tournament is just the beginning of Team Galaxy's grand plan, and Mewtwo's presence only clarifies that something bigger is being prepared.

That night passed peacefully, but Yang Chen knew that this peace might not last long. In the distance, shadows of threat began to envelop their world, waiting for the right moment to strike.
