However, she was equally content to be the only standing wife that was with Chen Ziyao. The rest had either fled from him or they were eventually killed by him both publicly and in the secret.
But he doted on her the most as the one who gave him an actual heir that was his own blood and not another man's as he usually said for his previous wives.
The ones who fled him, had not been heard of as much since they fled and no one knew exactly where they were or if they were still alive.
Surrounding the table were all of her children, Chen Ziyao's pride.
The firstborn son, Chen Hu was only a little below thirty and yet he was at the Core Formation stage.
His immediate younger brother Chen Yu was also at the Core Formation stage and was one realm lower at just twenty five years old.
The next in line was a female, Chen Yue and she was already at the Ninth Level of Foundation Establishment whilst being only nineteen.
The fourth child was the most active of them, Chen Xizi. His cultivation was also equally strong at only seventeen years, being only three years older than the Young Master.
As for the fifth child, Chen Ying, she was usually secluded and quiet and was seen as a pearl all the same. She was only thirteen and yet she possessed cultivation at the Fifth Level of Foundation Establishment.
With this statistics, it would not be totally wrong to assume that Liu Jingyi herself truly gave Chen Ziyao talents as kids. It was one reason why he doted on her the most, she was actually worth his time and resources.
All five children had different temperaments and characters. Chen Hu the first one was usually solitary and had the air of uprightness around him.
Chen Yu had the gallantry of one who pursued the way of the sword and of course he inherited their indifference and selfish heart as well.
Chen Yue was a high class queen of her own and also an arrogant swan when need arose for it.
Chen Xizi was more scheming and devious, he also loved manipulation and was known for his stubbornness within and outside the Chen Family. But he was also doted on by his mother and father, allowing him escape some mishaps from his trouble seeking ventures.
The last one being Chen Ying was actually calm and collected. She had the best temperament among them and she was actually one of the dust like characters that actually gave Chen Zhiyu an assistance, though she did so in secret.
Already being cautioned by her father a lot of times that Chen Zhiyu was a devil spawn and a little monster hiding in human skin, she would still defy his orders and show the latter some kindness.
But probably because she did her kind acts in secret, Chen Zhiyu could not know that she was the one behind them.
Hence, he still retained the idea that he was all alone in the Chen clan. She wasn't willing to step in and correct the narrative just yet as she had her own plans so she let it be.
"Clan Leader Chen, it's a pleasure to meet your beautiful family today. They are all wonderful people just like Brother Hu and the Clan Leader himself. However, the presence of the Young Master…" Feng Tianyi spoke to this point before he was slightly cut in.
TAP!
TAP!
TAP!
A series of light and ordered footsteps resounded throughout the banquet room as a figure dressed in loose black ancient robes approached the gathering.
Chen Zhiyu's exceptional demeanor and handsome appearance that didn't seem to wear out after all this years of torture and humiliation, happened to be one of the critical reason why Chen Xizi was at unrest.
On seeing Chen Zhiyu's arrival, even Yan Wuyin's eyes couldn't help but let out a subtle ripple. She was momentarily dazed for a second before she regained her sense of concentration.
Her actions though happening in a brief period of time, didn't go unnoticed by Feng Tianyi. One could imagine how disgusted Feng Tianyi felt about Chen Zhiyu now that it appeared that he was a potential competitor for the one he 'admired'.
"Did I interrupt anything…" Chen Zhiyu asked casually after he took his seat.
However, the room was cold and silent, without a hint for answers. Chen Zhiyu however was more relaxed at least on the surface as he was acting so. It was not a hidden affair that he was utterly loathed by his family so he didn't mind how they felt about it.
In fact, he would be excited in his heart if his uncle in the heat of his anger actually ordered him to get out. He was initially not going to come and he was only doing so because he was coerced into doing so with an 'invitation slip'.
Chen Ziyao's eyes were aggressively staring at Chen Zhiyu for a while now. It would be difficult to correlate his present image with the facade of a generous elder he put on earlier on.
And this massive change was caused by someone merely walking in. This level of hatred had already deeply rooted itself in his existence like a seed.
"You didn't interrupt anything Young Master Chen. I was just asking about you earlier on…" Feng Tianyi was quick to recover himself and he put on the airs of a superior quickly after as though he was passively trying to coerce Chen Zhiyu.
"Really? It's fine then. I'm here now, do we still have any guests in waiting" Chen Zhiyu's words were like the release of a toxic fart in the atmosphere.
Everyone from Liu Jingyi to Chen Xizi, they were all looking displeased and somehow irritated.
"Cousin Yu, we've been waiting for you to come earlier on. You're here now, we can start" Chen Ying broke the chain by uttering what was merely a repeat of what Chen Zhiyu had said earlier on.
