Day one passed by quickly.
The second day, the news about Damon missing, spread across the whole campus like firewood. The school website and chat groups were filled with numerous chatter and comments.
"Damon must have been unfortunate to offend the Hernandez family."
"Yes! That's right. It's indeed unfortunate that he has to offend the Hernandez family."
"If he'd known, he would have given them what they wanted."
"The rich always love to abuse their power. It's not a good thing. But what can we, the less privileged, do about it?"
That was indeed the question that was in the minds of everyone on the campus. The topic among the students of the college mostly revolved around Damon.
Sadly, the topic wasn't a good one at all. It was likely that he'd been killed. Although he was just a regular student that entered college on a scholarship, he was very intelligent and also had great potential.
In Damon's dormitory, his three friends weren't in a good mood either. That night, they thought their friend, Damon, must have slept over at Charlotte's house.
But to their demise, they find out from Charlotte that he had left the house after having a good time with her family. Although they didn't believe her, they couldn't refute her because they had no evidence.
"I feel Charlotte's parents are responsible for what happened to him."
"That's right. I also have that feeling, but what can we do?"
"You're correct. We have no evidence or proof. Even if we do, they won't take us seriously."
"If it was someone important, they would have investigated the situation, but they didn't."
"No matter what, we can't afford to offend them. We can only hope that a miracle happens and Damon returns in peace."
The three friends spoke to themselves with helplessness visible in their faces and voices. They felt ashamed of being too weak and poor not to help their friend, Damon, who could be in trouble.
Gideon warned Damon of going to the Hernandez family's mansion, but he refused to listen to him because he was blinded by love.
The news of Damon missing was far spread so it didn't take long before Charlotte found out about her boyfriend's situation.
"According to the news that is spreading around now, your boyfriend is said to be missing," the maid dropped the bombshell and Charlotte, who had been sitting quietly in her room, stood up abruptly with a cold look on her face.
Her long blue gown fluttered as she glared at the maid, who knelt before her, shivering in fear.
"Are you sure about what you're talking about?" Charlotte asked in a cold tone that seemed to be from the pit of hell. It was terrifyingly cold. Her voice sent a cold chill down her spine.
"I w- won't dare lie to you, Young Miss," the maid shuddered in fear, afraid of what her young Miss, Charlotte, could do to her if she talked too late.
Charlotte narrowed her gaze when she saw how serious and sincere the maid was. The maid wouldn't dare to lie to her because she would be punished severely if not killed. That was to show how cruel the Hernandez family are to their subordinates or maids, so no mistake was permitted.
Charlotte took a deep breath and controlled the anger that surged through her veins when she realized there was no reason for the maid to lie to her. And besides, this maid was her favorite.
"Okay, it's fine. Tell me everything that you know about the incident," she said demandingly, as she reassured herself.
The maid recounted everything that she'd heard from the rumor that was spreading across the city.
A gleam of coldness flashed in the depth of her eyes as soon as the maid finished her statement.
"You can take your leave," she instructed coldly, and the maid scampered out of her room fearfully.
"Mum," she grunted coldly and slammed her fist on the table before her and broke into pieces.
She didn't care or pay attention to how her strength managed to increase to such a length. What mattered to her was her boyfriend, Damon, who was said to be missing since he'd been away from the dormitory for more than 2 days and three nights.
The rule restraining the scholarship student was indeed strict. The scholarship students aren't allowed to stay more than a day outside their dormitory or the campus. So why wouldn't she be annoyed?
The instant the maid finished her statement, she suspected her mother because she knew how vicious and capable her mother was.
She left her room and slammed the door with a loud bang. She had a cold and icy gaze on her face as she marched to her mother's chamber.
The maids who were passing by quickly stepped aside and bowed their heads in fright.
"What's wrong with the miss?"
"Didn't you hear that her boyfriend had gone missing after leaving this place?"
"Oh! It seems like the reason why she's agitated."
"But how could she be so pale and annoyed because of a low-life like him?"
The maids muttered among themselves while looking around carefully so they wouldn't be caught gossiping. Gossiping about the young Miss or anyone related to the Hernandez family was indeed a bad thing. They would be severely punished if they were caught.
Charlotte, on the other hand, paid no attention to them. She stormed into her mother's room.
"My beautiful daughter," her mother praised as soon as she noticed her daughter's presence.
She ignored the cold and fierce auras that her daughter was emitting. It showed that her daughter wasn't there to have a chat with her. She came to fight her.
It was easy for her to guess why her daughter had come.
"What's the meaning of what I'm hearing?" She asked with an angry tone.
Her mother narrowed her eyebrows and spoke up. "I don't know either."
"Or is there something wrong?" She asked, feigning ignorance.
However, Charlotte wasn't going to fall for that.
"Don't pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about."
"Snatching that ring from him is enough. But do you have to harm him?" She ask
ed coldly.
"Harm him? Are you accusing your mother of being responsible for the disappearance of Smith?" Her mother's voice turned cold and fierce, suppressing her own voice.
