Chereads / The Miraculous Damon / Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Her mother tried to blackmail her emotionally but she wasn't having any of them. She was very concerned about the well-being of her boyfriend. She was worried that something might have happened to him since her mother was involved in the case.

If she had known earlier, she wouldn't have invited him. Even if it meant offending him, she would beg him and ask for his forgiveness later. But none of that can happen anymore because he hasn't returned to the dormitory after two days.

"What difference does it make? Are you not involved in what happened to Damon?" She asked.

"Keep quiet and stop accusing me blindly," her mother said coldly and slapped her across the face before she could react.

She held her cheek that was burning with excruciating pain and looked up at her mother with a hint of shock and fear itched in her eyes. She was unwilling to accept that her mother had nothing to do with the disappearance of her boyfriend, Damon.

"You slapped me?" She asked with a hint of shock and unwillingness in her eyes as she stared at her mother intently.

"I'll do that again if you dare repeat that good-for-nothing boyfriend of yours in my presence again."

"You'd better go for Richmond and stop weeping around because of Smith," she said and glared at her daughter scornfully.

Charlotte wanted to retort but she kept quiet because she knew that her mother wasn't going to say anything no matter what she tried to do.

She felt a sense of unwillingness washed over her when she realized that there was nothing that she could do to help her boyfriend. She didn't know whether he was alive or dead.

"If anything happens to Damon, I'll hold you responsible for it, min," she threatened coldly. Her mother rolled her eyes at her without deigning to reply to her.

"I'm sorry, Damon," she smiled bitterly as she muttered. She walked out of her mother's chamber with her eyes burning with rage and fury.

None of the maids or guards could afford to offend her at that moment because she could use them as a scapegoat to vent her anger on. They behaved themselves around her.

A rare smile formed on Darcy's face as soon as her daughter left her chamber. A wider smile appeared on her lips when she brought out the black ring and stared at it dazzlingly for a while.

"I'm going to sell you off today," she muttered as she took a small expensive handbag and left her chamber.

She entered the car and drove off, heading to the Black Ruins Auction house, which was in a very far and rural place. She couldn't afford anyone knowing about the ring that was in her possession so she decided to drive herself there.

It didn't take more than four hours before she got there. She parked her car in a wide space that others parked their exotic and luxurious cars. She placed a black fancy mask on her face before walking toward the entrance of the huge building of the Black Ruins Auction house.

The building seemed to be a house that was built centuries ago due to its old appearance and the material that was used to build it. The exterior has no style of modern life.

She stretched a card at the two hefty men that were outside the building. Her eyes widened in awe under her black mask when she entered the Inner Hall of the Black Ruins Auction house. It was huge and different.

The entire hall was lit up with golden chandelier lights. The interior was something she never expected. The beauty of the Inner Hall was far superior to the exterior of the Outer Hall that seemed like an ancient building.

The Inner Hall seemed to be a different world with a lot of modern items that lit up the room.

Different rich and wealthy people like her under different colors of masks could be seen sitting on different chairs.

A young handsome man dressed in a black suit walked up to her and bowed his head slightly. "Do you want to buy or auction an item?"

"Both," she replied firmly and he nodded his head in response.

"Please follow me," the man said and walked away. She followed him closely from behind.

She was eager to sell the mysterious ring and get hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions. For the past two days, she had been studying the ring but she couldn't get anything about it. She was eager that it was a powerful and valuable ring that shouldn't be looked down upon.

The young man took her to an Inner Room where people that wanted to auction their items were gathered.

Elderly man walked toward them and stopped before her with a cold look on his face.

Her heart skipped a bit when she noticed how strong were the auras that the man exuded. It was strong and almost irresistible.

"What items do you plan to auction?" He asked in a straightforward manner without beating around the bush.

"I want to auction this mystical ring," she said proudly and brought out the ring.

Everyone in the Inner Room looked up and stared at her with interest when they heard her statement. They wanted to see the mystical ring she was referring to.

They stared at the ring dazzlingly for a while before speaking among themselves.

"This is indeed a mystical ring like she said."

"Where did she get it from? I was fascinated by it."

"Didn't you notice the extraordinary auras that it was emitting?"

"The auras is capable of weakening if not damaging a weak soul."

"We can't judge the authenticity based on the auras alone, right?

The elderly man's eyes lit up as he stared at the ring in his hand.

"Do you know the origin of this ring?" He asked demandingly and she nodded her head quickly.

An elder of the Black Ruins Auction house wasn't someone that she could afford to offend because of their extraordinary power and background.

"I don't know. I encountered it by sheer luck," she lied.

Although it could be considered as encountering it by luck, she stole it from her daughter's boyfriend, Damon.

The man nodded his head solemnly without doubting her words.

"Hope you know that we can't determine the authenticity of this ring based on the aura it emits alone, right?" He asked and she nodded her head in response.

"Normally, the Revered Elder Zhu, will test the authenticity of the ring but he has gone out not quite long after testing those people's items."

"Well, since you're a member of the Hernández family, I believe you won't dare to lie about the ring being fake or real," the man said coldly and she shook her head quickly.

"I won't," she shuddered softly.

The people in the room who were from lower backgrounds stared at Darcy in awe when they realized that she was a member of the Hernández family. One of the top leading families in the State.

"No matter the amount you get from this ring, we, the Black Ruins Auction house, will get forty-five percent," he said.

"Forty-five percent?" She stammered in shock.

"Yes. Do you have a problem with that?" He asked coldly and she shook her head quickly.

"No, Sir," she said respectfully after regaining her senses.

Being able to get 55 percent of a billion dollars worth of rings was still profitable. At the very least, she has to thank Smith.

"You can take your leave," he said indifferently and waved his hand dismissively.

She nodded her head and walked out of the Inner Room then proceeded to the Inner Hall where the auction will be taking place.

She was taken to the middle ranked section to sit on while she observed the auction. She has no intention of bidding for anything.

She watched as different items were brought to the stage and were bidded at high price. She was ecstatic about the mystical ring she stole from Damon to fetch her a lot of money.

She wore a bright smile as the mystical ring she gave to the elder of the Black Ruin action was brought to the stage finally.

She watched as the host explained the little mysteries they've found concerning the ring because of the distinct and mysterious auras that it was exuding.

Everyone in the hall who came to bid for items were interested in the rings and were ready to spend any amount of money to obtain it.

"This ring seems to be a powerful one."

"You're right. I can feel it's subtle killing intent."

"It must have been used by a powerful being."

"I can't wait to get my hand on it."

Darcy smiled in satisfaction as she watched those men bid for the mystical ring without any reservation. She watched as the price of the ring skyrocketed from hundred million dollars to a billion dollars. The bid was still going on.

"Five billion dollars. Going…" someone interrupted the host and climbed up the stage before he could complete his statement.

"Can I have a look at the ring?" An elderly man with sharp gaze who exuded frightening auras came closer to the host.

"No, problem, senior," the host said with his tone filled with respect. It was easy to tell that the elderly man wasn't an ordinary person.

The old man glared at it for a while and scoffed before smashing it on the floor. "Who gave this ring to you?" He asked coldly.

"You broke this…" the host shuddered, not wanting to offend the elderly man. At the same time, he didn't want to offend the higher ups of the Black Ruins auction house.

"Answer my question," the man demanded, glaring at the host with an icy gaze.

"It's a member of the Hernandez's family that brought it here," he shuddered when he felt the hostility in the gaze of the elderly man.

However, the hostility wasn't targeted at him.

"Perhaps you should call her out to explain why she brought this so-called mystical ring to deceive us," the elderly man demanded as he glanced at the pieces of th

e ring that was shattered on the floor.

Darcy gasped out in shock when she heard the statement of the elderly man who seemed to be a powerful person.

Even the host of the Black Ruins auction show was wary of him, how couldn't she be scared? Is there something wrong with the ring?
